Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 A Crushing Silence

Vivian's POV

Darkness had already settled over the city when Wade's car pulled up to Liam's estate. I had fought to stay at Grace's apartment overnight to care for her, but Wade refused to consider it. Even Grace had to persuade me to go, insisting she felt much better.

Now we sat in the circular driveway, and I wished I could be anywhere else in the world. Daytime hours were bearable when Salena bustled around the house, creating life with her constant activity and unnecessary cleaning projects.

The bodyguards provided some comfort too. At least they meant I wasn't completely isolated.

But nighttime brought something different. Something crushing.

This enormous mansion became my prison when darkness fell.

"You holding up alright?" Wade's voice came from the driver's seat.

I glanced his way and forced a smile across my lips. "Yeah, I'm managing." My hand moved toward the door handle, then stopped. "Thank you for today, Wade. You didn't have to help me, but you did anyway."
