Liam's POV
The words echoed relentlessly in my skull with each passing heartbeat.
I am not a good man.
Every breath I took carried the weight of my deception. I was lying straight to her face, acting as if I had no clue who her father really was. Pretending I wasn't the one responsible for putting Tim Abel behind bars.
But listening to Vivian describe the monster her father had been made every violent instinct in me roar to life. I wanted to tear him apart piece by piece for what he'd stolen from her.
Vivian had never known what real love felt like as a child, and that bastard was entirely to blame. My own father had been a nightmare, but at least Wade and I had our mother to shield us when she could, even though she paid dearly for protecting us.
The way Vivian shouldered the blame for her own abuse nearly shattered something inside my chest.
