Hawk didn't know how other Saints trained.
After all, the Saints in his memories were from anime.
This was reality. As everyone knew, stories needed logic, but reality didn't. So...
Hawk, who had continuously thrown ten thousand punches every day for a full thousand days, could be said to have long since mastered this simple boxing technique.
How did the saying go?
If someone could persist in drawing and sheathing their sword a hundred thousand times, they could master the Heaven-Slaying Sword Drawing Technique.
The number of times he had persistently pulled back and thrown his punches was far more than a hundred thousand, and after completing his Cosmo training activation mission, his boxing technique finally underwent a qualitative change.
Supersonic Fist!
A boxing technique that could elevate his punch speed to supersonic levels, and potentially break the sound barrier even further after burning his Cosmo.
What was a Supersonic Fist?
It meant that when his fist landed on you, you would first feel the pain, and only then would you hear the sound of him throwing the punch.
That was a Supersonic Fist.
Boom!
As the aircraft exploded in the sky above the district, the Chitauri Captain, who had narrowly escaped by leaping from the craft, heard the explosive sound of a punch by his ear.
He drew a weapon from behind him, one that also emitted an eerie green glow but was not a firearm; instead, it was a spear-like weapon.
He stared at Hawk, who stood shirtless before him, possessing a physique as robust as a sculpture.
There was nothing for it.
Under the Chitauri's recent carpet bombing, Hawk wasn't injured, but the T-shirt he'd worn for several years had finally met its end under the barrage of flying debris.
But it didn't matter.
Having shed his torn T-shirt, now clad only in grey casual pants and old sneakers, Hawk felt himself grow a bit stronger.
And it wasn't an illusion. As everyone knew, clothes ripping increased combat power!
"Human!"
The Chitauri Captain, holding the phosphorescent green spear, fixed his large, beady, green eyes on Hawk from beneath his faceplate.
Hawk's image also appeared on the display screens of the Chitauri alien mothership behind the wormhole.
Hawk looked at the Chitauri Captain, who held the eerie green spear, and tilted his head with a smile.
The next second, he extended his right hand towards the Chitauri Captain, palm open, then closed his fingers, beckoning to the captain.
No wasted words.
"Come!"
"Die!"
The Chitauri Captain looked at Hawk's nonchalant expression and almost insulting gesture, his face impassive.
With a bang, his feet instantly shattered the ground, and he shot through the air like a streak, rapidly closing in on Hawk.
Simultaneously, the tip of his spear glowed with an eerie green light, unleashing one energy beam after another.
Hawk likewise exerted force with his feet; the ground instantly cracked and sank as he transformed into a golden streak that tore through the vision, rushing towards the Chitauri Captain.
In his memory, once a Bronze Saint awakened their Cosmo, gained recognition from their affiliated constellation, and donned their constellation's Cloth, their bodies would transform into truly terrifying existences.
Their physical defense would be incredibly astonishing, and the speed of their punches and movements would reach supersonic levels.
Even their lifespans would far surpass those of ordinary people.
Although Hawk had currently only awakened his Cosmo, and had not yet lit up his affiliated constellation, nor even seen a shadow of a Cloth, this didn't stop him from no longer being an ordinary person in a certain sense.
So...
"Pfft!"
The Chitauri Captain, who was rapidly closing in on Hawk, attempting to disrupt and stop him with ranged attacks before trying to slay him up close, suddenly had his expression drastically change.
Immediately after, he spewed a mouthful of equally eerie green blood.
The force of the gushing phosphorescent green blood was so immense that it directly blasted off the metal faceplate from the Chitauri Captain's face, revealing a grotesque visage beneath the mask that looked more like an insect than a human face.
The next moment. The sound of a punch arrived, exploding next to the Chitauri Captain's ear.
"Boom!"
The Chitauri Captain dazedly lowered his head, looking at the arm that had pierced his sturdy armor and was embedded in his chest.
The Chitauri Captain let out an incomprehensible or meaningless shriek, trying to lift his increasingly heavy head to get one last look at the human who had killed him in a single blow.
But... it was out of time.
Just as it had lifted its head halfway, as the arm was withdrawn from its chest, boundless darkness instantly enveloped it.
Boom!
Deprived of Hawk's arm's support, and enveloped by boundless darkness, the Chitauri Captain toppled over onto the ground like a dead giant insect.
As the Chitauri Captain fell to the ground, Hawk hooked his right hand, retrieving the energy spear weapon from the Chitauri Captain's grasp.
A phosphorescent green, liquid-like substance filled the interior of the energy spear, and as the energy flowed, the spear also emitted an eerie green glow.
Hawk weighed the energy spear in his hand.
A question suddenly popped into his mind.
By the way, if he were to sell this energy spear, along with the several weapons dropped by the Chitauri soldiers he had just killed, on the black market, how much money could he get?
Alien weapons... they should be quite valuable, right?
Hawk thought, subconsciously turning his head to look at a corner of the apartment ruins.
When he was arranging the bodies earlier, he had incidentally tossed the four dropped energy firearms into a large pit.
Just then, Hawk's peripheral vision caught the sudden burst of brilliant blue light blooming over Manhattan.
He snapped back to attention. He gazed towards the sky above Manhattan.
What he saw was that the eerie blue pillar of light that had seemed to exist between heaven and earth had disappeared, and at the same time, the rift tearing open the sky above Earth was beginning to close at a visible rate.
"That's it?"
"It's over?"
"The 'Chitauri soldiers invading Earth' instance is done?"
"How does it feel like..."
Hawk blinked.
He was tempted to say that if he had known the Chitauri invasion of Earth would be so weak and powerless, he wouldn't have been so worried and scared.
But... Hawk withdrew his gaze, looking at the utterly devastated district, now like a post-war ruin, where even some scattered limbs could be seen.
He swallowed the words he was about to say.
It wasn't that the Chitauri soldiers were too weak.
It was that he had become stronger.
"If I hadn't awakened my Cosmo at just this opportune moment, a part of me would probably be among those scattered limbs," Hawk thought.
His gaze falling on the visible dismembered body parts, further solidifying an idea in his mind.
He wanted to become stronger.
To continue becoming stronger.
Not for anything else, but to be qualified to utter that one sentence: My fate is mine to control, not Heaven's!
But currently, Hawk had something important to do.
That was... to find a place to properly store the five alien weapons he had painstakingly acquired from defeating monsters, and then figure out how to sell them for money to improve his life.
