Hearing that Cedric was alright, Fred immediately laughed, but quickly realized he was in the Ministry of Magic, surrounded by many busy people, which was somewhat inappropriate. So, he quickly shut his mouth again.
However, Mr. Digory didn't know what they were thinking and curiously asked, "By the way, you Weasley boys, didn't you both quit? Why are you here?"
"Ah, we heard about the attack here and came specifically to help." George said.
"That's right." Fred nodded as well.
For some reason, they didn't mention Cedric again, only saying they were there to help.
"I see, you're really a group of enthusiastic kids." Mr. Digory nodded with a smile, "But I must say, you're truly lucky."
"Yeah, that's right." Fred said with a smile, "If we hadn't quit, we might have been among those sent to St Mungo's by now."
"Not might, but definitely... or perhaps worse." Mr. Digory shook his head, his expression becoming much more serious, "I heard that after the Death Eaters came out of the Minister's office, they specifically went to the Department of Prohibition of Misuse of Muggle Items.
"I suspect it's because Arthur keeps opposing them that they wanted to retaliate."
"Indeed, Dad has always been opposing the Death Eaters." Fred said cheerfully, seeming unbothered.
Being a member of the Order of Phoenix, it was too normal to be targeted by Death Eaters, nothing unusual about it. Otherwise, their whole family wouldn't have moved from the Shabby Residence to No. 12 Grimmauld Place.
"How's old Perkins?"
"Not very well." Mr. Digory shook his head with a heavy heart, "As far as I know, he encountered the Death Eaters in the lift and was tortured with the Crucio Curse. But fortunately, he survived."
"Yes." George sighed, "I remember he'd always wanted to retire early... I guess he'll get his wish now."
They continued walking upstairs.
After learning that Cedric was safe, they weren't as anxious, and began helping the injured on different floors, while also inquiring about what had happened here.
From everyone's descriptions, it seemed that after killing Fudge, the Death Eaters didn't leave immediately. Instead, they tried to find those opposing them one by one, relying on their numbers.
Later, Amelia Bones, Scrimgeour, and others led the Aurors and Beaters to the scene, and both sides engaged in a battle here.
As for the outcome of the battle... although the Aurors successfully drove off the Death Eaters, the Ministry of Magic lost from the start, and lost thoroughly.
At this time, there were still many Ministry employees affected upstairs, most of whom were long-time civil servants. Having not fought for a long time, they were completely bewildered by the sudden situation.
Some didn't even manage to draw their wands before being knocked aside by the Death Eaters.
Kael turned a corner and saw a wizard unconscious in the ruins.
He remembered this person, who had been in the lobby checking visitors' wands. It was unclear why he ended up here, maybe for some reason or perhaps due to the chaos.
Kael waved his wand, turning a broken door into a stretcher, and then transformed a few stones into small legged figures.
The stone figures roughly tossed the man onto the stretcher and ran downstairs with him.
"Hey, that's quite a trick." Fred said from the side, mimicking Kael to help other injured people.
However, while busying themselves, he always felt like he had forgotten something, and George beside him felt the same.
They subconsciously thought they should go somewhere to do something, but couldn't pinpoint where.
But they didn't mind, continuing their rescue efforts.
If they couldn't remember, it mustn't be important.
During this time, they encountered Amelia Bones, who was commanding a team of Beaters while methodically directing follow-up work.
She also expressed her gratitude to Fred and George, who had resigned but came of their own accord to help.
"Maid, take a few people to the third floor, the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee office is almost completely dismantled."
"And the sixth floor, Barty is injured, he can't manage to restart the Floo Network before dawn alone."
"Scrimgeour, please guard each entrance with the Aurors to prevent the Death Eaters from returning."
She efficiently and swiftly organized the work, with each order quickly executed. No one opposed her, not even Scrimgeour, who silently took the Aurors to the hall.
"It looks like she's going to be the next Minister of Magic." Fred whispered after Amelia Bones left, "I remember Dad saying that the Head of the Auror Office isn't someone a Minister can command."
"I think so too." Kael nodded.
During her tenure as the Minister of the Ministry of Magic Law Enforcement Department, Amelia Bones always left an impression of fairness and rigor, never making any mistakes, and almost everyone holds her in high regard.
Including when Sirius was re-tried, Amelia was the first to advocate for his innocence.
