Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: On the Advantages of an Orphan Start

[Obtained reward - Perception Ninjutsu]

[First time completing a teaching, obtained reward - Identification Jutsu]

[First time completing an A-rated teaching, obtained reward - Mastery of Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Changes]

Receiving three rewards at once was quite a surprise for Mokgetsu. He felt as if many memories suddenly flooded his mind, mostly about the training of Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Changes.

Those memories were incredibly vivid, giving Mokgetsu the illusion that he was an old ninja who specialized in Fire Release his whole life.

"Teacher Habu, may I ask you a question?" Shisui asked respectfully.

Hearing Shisui's words, Mokgetsu paused from checking the panel review and took Shisui behind the empty teaching building. He also sensed using Perception Ninjutsu and found no particularly strong Chakra presence.

Mokgetsu felt relieved and smiled, "Is it that part of the class content you didn't understand? Go ahead and ask."

Shisui shook his head and said, "It's not about the lecture content, but there's a question that puzzles me."

"Teacher, you know that the Senju Clan and the Uchiha Clan together founded Konoha, but why does everyone only remember the Senju while the Uchiha's contributions are rarely mentioned?"

Though just a child, Shisui was exceptionally mature and sensitive. He could sense the strange looks people gave them on the streets when he went out with his elders, noticing the Uchiha emblem on their backs.

Even though both clans contributed to the village's founding, why is it that the Uchiha's achievements are not acknowledged, and even seem to be disliked by the villagers? Shisui didn't quite understand.

Looking at the puzzled Shisui, Mokgetsu internally criticized, "What reputation does Senju Hashirama have in Konoha, and what reputation does Uchiha Madara have in Konoha? Can you even compare the two?"

"You've only read some history within the clan, right?" Mokgetsu asked.

Shisui nodded, as the history he could access at the moment was only what the Uchiha provided.

"A lot happened to make it like this now, and it's hard to explain clearly in a short time." Mokgetsu showed a hint of difficulty on his face.

Seeing Mokgetsu's dilemma, Shisui felt guilty, realizing the question was more complex than he thought. Just as he was about to drop the matter, Mokgetsu spoke again.

"Never mind, if you have time after school, come find me, and I'll tell you some of that history," Mokgetsu sighed.

"After all, I suppose I owe the Uchiha Clan a debt of gratitude, so consider it as repaying that debt."

Shisui was a bit puzzled as to why Mokgetsu would owe the Uchiha a favor, so he asked directly.

"My parents were surrounded by enemies in a war, and a ninja named Uchiha Kagami saved them. Although they eventually died in another battle, I've always remembered this life-saving grace," Mokgetsu said gratefully, making up a story.

He was grateful that the original body had long been orphaned, otherwise, his story would have less leeway.

One has to admit, sometimes the dead are more useful than the living.

Shisui's eyes widened, showing an incredible expression. Uchiha Kagami was his grandfather, and he hadn't expected this kind of connection with Mokgetsu, creating a mysterious feeling for him.

However, Shisui wasn't the type to use others' debts to seek favors, so he didn't publicize it and just thanked Mokgetsu.

Before Shisui left, Mokgetsu used Identification on him.

[Name: Uchiha Shisui]

[Chakra: 500]

[Potential: SS-]

[Evaluation: Six Paths Bloodline, suitable for Fire Release and Genjutsu cultivation, enormous potential, recommended to take as a disciple]

Mokgetsu walked toward the office, marveling at the fact that such an incredible individual who could awaken Susanoo in one eye, had two golden S's, making the system recommend taking him as a disciple.

Mokgetsu casually opened his own panel to check if there were any changes in his evaluation.

[Name: Habu Mokgetsu]

[Age: 18]

[Chakra: 4300]

[Evaluation: Mastery of Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Transformation; limited by your sparse Chakra. If you can overcome this flaw, you will be among the elite of Jonin.]

"It seems that the mastery of Fire Attribute Nature Changes is even more powerful than I imagined," Mokgetsu realized he might have underestimated the weight of the word "mastery."

Originally, he thought it was equivalent to Jonin-level knowledge of Nature Transformation. Now, in terms of Fire Attribute Chakra Nature Changes alone, he might have reached the level of the Third Hokage.

Since except for two Fire Release techniques, he only knew Instant Body Jutsu, Three-Body Jutsu, and some basic Taijutsu. At such a level, with the rewards and increased Chakra, he could reach Elite Jonin level.

Elite Jonin is probably at the level of Kakashi or Asuma when the plot starts.

His strength increased significantly, making Mokgetsu initially happy. However, remembering his affiliation with Root, he was no longer pleased.

First, the Curse Seal of Root on him made him feel insecure, and secondly, Danzo's habit of sending subordinates on missions made him even more uneasy.

"I need to quickly take on some disciples and rapidly enhance my strength, even if it's not enough to kill Danzo and leave grandly, I should at least have the ability to protect myself." Mokgetsu set a short-term goal for himself.

Entering the office, Mokgetsu found three other teachers - two male and one female - all of whom were grumbling about their students.

Mokgetsu recognized them all as he had previously visited the school before and met his colleagues.

Mokgetsu casually used Identification on each of them.

[Name: Iketani Isamu]

[Chakra: 2000]

[Potential: C]

[Evaluation: A Chunin cannon fodder]

The data of these three teachers were similar, all identified by the system as cannon fodder.

"Ah, I'm really unfortunate to end up with class 2-4 in my hands; I was already teaching class 1-3," Iketani Isamu helplessly shook his hand.

"How am I supposed to teach this class with Might Guy and Uchiha Obito, the two lowest in the year, both in class 2-4?"

"My family also scheduled a blind date for me to meet someone tomorrow afternoon, but I happen to have a class with class 2-4 then."

"Find a teacher who's free or just take a leave. The blind date is more important," Ueda Aya suggested.

At this moment, Ueda Aya noticed Mokgetsu entering and greeted him with a smile, "Teacher Habu, how did you feel about your first class? Did the teaching tips I shared come in handy?"

Mokgetsu recalled how the enthusiastic female teacher previously advised him, worried he might get nervous. She had urged him to think of cabbages and radishes while lecturing.

Mokgetsu politely replied, "Thank you, the tips were quite helpful. But after class, the students all advised me not to be picky with my food."

"Haha, Teacher Habu, you're quite amusing," Ueda Aya laughed and figured that Mokgetsu must have had a smooth experience since he was in the mood for jokes.

"Teacher Iketani, I don't have class tomorrow afternoon. If you need, I can cover for you," Mokgetsu placed the lesson plan on the desk and offered help with a smile.

Unlike other teachers, Mokgetsu wished for a full schedule every day, especially with Obito and Might Guy in class 2-4, as he very much wanted to check it out.

Iketani Isamu looked delighted and quickly thanked Mokgetsu, expressing that he'd treat him to a meal sometime.

...

In the Hokage Office, the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, watched Mokgetsu earnestly explaining the Will of Fire in the crystal ball. Stroking his goatee, he felt that this young Root member was quite decent, someone who understood the Will of Fire.

Danzo thought he was hiding well, but a portion of ninjas raised by Root, yet not on the Root list, was already known to the Third Hokage.

However, the Third thought Danzo was at least somewhat cultivating power for Konoha, and it wasn't a concern if it didn't exceed a certain point.

The Third Hokage placed significant importance on the Ninja Academy, so he specifically monitored it personally, surprised to see this Root ninja teaching the Will of Fire in his first class, instilling a sense of responsibility in the students, and felt pleased.

"Let's observe his future performance. If he proves to be a talent, let him leave Root."

Mokgetsu hadn't yet done enough to have the Third Hokage negotiate with Danzo on his behalf.

Although Danzo was technically his subordinate, he still needed to consider his old classmate's feelings.

With this in mind, the Third Hokage stopped the Telescope Jutsu, began paperwork, and planned to inspect Konoha again by evening.

...

After dinner, Shisui followed Mokgetsu's directions to find where he lived.

Mokgetsu's residence was located in the southeastern part of Konoha, an area with sparse buildings, considered the remote part of Konoha, far from the main city.

Thankfully, due to the lack of buildings, Shisui soon found Mokgetsu's home, a single-story wooden house nestled in a simple yard.

Entering the yard, Shisui saw something that left him in shock and awe.
