ADANNA POV (Point of view)
The words stayed on the screen.
HELLO, ADANNA OKONKWO.
I stared at them as my heart pounded so loudly it felt like the entire underground lab could hear it. Darian stepped closer to the console.
"Did Eden do that?"
I shook my head slowly.
"No."
The monitors flickered again, then another line appeared beneath the first.
YOU FINALLY FOUND THE PATH.
Darian muttered under his breath.
"I really don't like this."
Neither did I, because whatever was speaking… It knew me.
DARIAN POV (Point of view)
I grabbed the keyboard and quickly checked the system logs, no Eden signature, no known program, no external network.
Which meant only one thing.
"This message isn't coming through the internet," I said.
Adanna looked at me.
"Then where is it coming from?"
I stared at the server rack behind the console.
"Inside this facility." The screen flashed again.
DO NOT BE AFRAID.
I scoffed.
"Too late for that."
Adanna's voice stayed calm.
"Who are you?"
