ADANNA POV (Point of view)
Mist clung to my skin, cold and damp, but I didn't notice. All I could feel was Darian pressed against me, strong and taut, every muscle coiled as he scanned the water and the fog beyond. Eden thrummed beneath my fingers, louder now, sharper, as if it had sensed the shadow trailing us.
"Something's coming," I whispered, voice tight.
Darian's jaw clenched, eyes narrowing. "I know. Kade."
A shiver ran through me, part fear, part anticipation. Kade wasn't just another Syndicate operative, he was cunning, brutal, the kind of man who made fear a weapon, and now, he was closing in.
I clutched the pulse of Eden, letting it guide me. It was almost alive, almost sentient, a protective force tethered to me, to us. I could feel it respond to Darian, to my emotions, to the rhythm of our hearts. Its vibrations throbbed through my fingertips like an urgent warning: danger, but also opportunity.
