It was the next day. Anastasia stood in front of the mirrorr, her hands flat against her stomach. There was no visible change, no bump to speak of, but her body felt loud. It felt occupied.
She needed a test. The uncertainty was a slow-acting poison, but she had no idea how to get one without Dylan or Matteo finding out.
If Matteo even suspected she was pregnant, he would uproot the entire world just to get to her.
She had spoken to Lori again the day before, but she didn't dare mention the baby. They talked about Matteo and how she had somehow ended up back in Arizona with the ex-husband she used to talk about, but Anastasia didn't give many details. Dylan's ears were always too close, making her feel way too conscious of every word.
She walked over to the window and saw Dylan sitting idle in his car downstairs. What was he doing? What was he thinking about? She decided to go down.
