The doctors moved fast around Isabella, checking her pulse and nerves. She wouldn't stop screaming about Anastasia.
"If anything happens to my baby, I will haunt her down to everyone that has a drop of her blood in their veins," she swore.
She gripped Matteo's hand like a vice, refusing to let go.
"She hit me, Matteo! She pushed me to the floor because she hates that I'm carrying your child," Isabella wailed, her eyes darting to see his reaction.
Matteo watched her, his face like stone. He knew her theatrics. He had known Isabella his whole life... she was a shark, a woman who could hold her own in a room full of killers. Anastasia was no match for her in a physical fight unless she had caught her completely off guard, or allowed herself to be defeated.
"Check the fetal's heartbeat," Matteo told the doctor, his voice flat.
Isabella kept at it, her insults getting nastier.
"She is as evil as her mother,"
She told him, a direct hit at the mother Damian had mentioned.
