Chapter 49 - 49

Su Yi invited Vanessa out for dinner, and the location for dinner had already been prepared.

The restaurant had a great ambiance and a very romantic atmosphere.

The two chatted while eating.

When Su Yi was watching the show, Kingpin and Vanessa mainly talked about two things.

The first thing was Kingpin's tragic childhood experiences.

The second thing was Kingpin expressing his desire to change the district and make it a better place.

Su Yi found it preposterous.

Kingpin's tragic experiences were certainly worthy of sympathy.

However, Kingpin's methods were brutal.

And from that time on, Kingpin's thinking went astray.

As for Kingpin's wish to make the city better, that was even more absurd.

Becoming the King of the Underworld, letting crime run rampant, letting Bandits act recklessly—is that what he called 'better'?

Fortunately, he appeared early, so he should be able to end Vanessa's ill-fated relationship prematurely.

Otherwise, if Vanessa were deeply embroiled in it, she would truly be beyond saving.

Su Yi seized the opportunity, using this chance to capture Vanessa's heart.

"Actually, everyone has a lonely period, and I am no exception."

Vanessa was clearly very interested in this, "Is that so?"

"You should be able to tell that I'm not from here. I come from the East, and my life was originally quite happy."

"Due to an accident, my parents passed away. So, I came here to live with my Grandpa."

"But, not long after, my Grandpa also passed away."

"During that time, I felt that nothing I did had any meaning."

Vanessa was indeed moved by this story, "I'm sorry to hear that. Fortunately, you came out of it."

"I was bored for a long time, reading books, traveling. Finally, I understood one thing: life itself has no inherent meaning. So, I started trying to change. I no longer search for meaning; I only want to find happiness. Making my life happy is the only meaning."

Vanessa's beautiful eyes flickered, listening patiently, "It seems you've found it, happiness?"

"I've found a part of it, but a part is still missing."

"I will do good deeds, make others happy, and through that, feel happy myself."

"But, I feel like I'm still missing a woman who can accompany me, forever lead me out of loneliness, and make me feel happy."

"I think, today, I found her."

Vanessa was also a lonely person, and she yearned for someone to understand her loneliness, someone to lead her out of it.

At this moment, Vanessa became even more convinced that Su Yi was that person.

"Su, you are originally from the East, why don't you go back to the East?"

Su Yi thought for a moment and replied, "I have a feeling that the person I'm looking for is here, which is why I haven't left. Of course, there's another reason: I'm studying here."

Vanessa had no doubts, simply assuming Su Yi was an international student.

International students are also of legal age, so there was nothing to worry about.

"So, Vanessa, what about you?"

Vanessa mustered her courage and also shared her experiences.

"My experience is similar to yours; I grew up in an orphanage."

"Because I liked to paint and had some talent for it, I was adopted."

"However, the new family was not perfect."

"Before I went to college, I became financially independent and left that family."

Vanessa omitted the details of her experiences in her new home, but Su Yi could sense that this period might have been even worse than Vanessa's description.

It was precisely that experience that kept Vanessa in loneliness until now, an experience that would require a lifetime for Vanessa to heal.

Talking about these things did indeed break the romantic atmosphere, but it also allowed Vanessa to open her heart.

Su Yi said gently, "I know that your experience in your new family might have been even worse than you described."

"If you don't want to elaborate, I won't force you."

"Right now, I just want to give you a hug and tell you that everything is in the past."

"Perhaps, you will still recall that experience."

"But, in the future, you will feel the warmth of the present."

Su Yi stood up, walked to Vanessa's side, and extended his hand.

Vanessa looked at Su Yi's gentlemanly gesture, placed one hand on Su Yi's, and stood up.

The two were very close, and Vanessa naturally leaned into Su Yi's embrace.

"I feel it, the warmth."

Su Yi smiled and said, "In the future, you'll feel even more."

After a while, Vanessa chose to pull away, revealing a beautiful smile, "I feel much better."

"Perhaps, this would be even better."

Su Yi chose to take the initiative, and although Vanessa was momentarily stunned, she quickly became immersed.

After a moment, the two separated.

Vanessa's eyes were alluring, and her expression gained a touch of charm.

Vanessa was not a shy young girl either.

Having met Su Yi, she had no intention of missing out.

At this moment, she felt an immediate spark.

Vanessa also decided not to temporarily abandon rationality and follow her feelings.

"Su, I think it's time for us to go home. Can you take me back?"

Su Yi gently wrapped his arm around Vanessa's waist, "Of course."

The two immediately left the restaurant, and Su Yi drove Vanessa home.

Su Yi escorted Vanessa into her apartment, originally planning to explore slowly.

But unexpectedly, Vanessa took the initiative, which even surprised Su Yi a little.

As soon as the door was closed, Vanessa proactively invited Su Yi to her studio to paint.

After several hours, the two collaborated to complete the painting.

Su Yi looked at the surrounding environment, with Vanessa leaning beside him.

"So, this is your bedroom? It's practically a bed placed in a studio?"

Vanessa whispered softly, "It's all the same where I rest."

Su Yi gently held the beauty in his arms, sighing with emotion.

When Vanessa was at the gallery, she looked very elegant, a perfect woman.

But her home was minimalist.

One could even say it lacked any sense of home, more like a studio.

The empty room was filled with easels and unfinished paintings.

The bed looked very out of place, as if it were temporarily used for rest.

"Don't you like it being so messy?"

"No, I just want to give you a real home."

Vanessa was deeply moved and said nothing, simply enjoying the tranquility of the moment.

Although she hadn't completely shaken off the feeling of loneliness, Vanessa felt wonderful at this moment.

Having someone by her side, this feeling was truly different.

Su Yi felt a touch of pity and affection in his heart.

"Vanessa."

"What is it?"

"Regarding that painting, I have an idea. I know what content to add."

Vanessa's interest was piqued when she heard Su Yi say this, and she propped herself up, "What idea?"

"I want to draw hearts on it."

Vanessa found it a bit unbelievable, "What?"

"Do you think the style is completely wrong, and a bit too childish?"

Vanessa didn't hide her feelings, "That's how I feel, but since you say so, you must have your own thoughts. I'd like to hear more."

Su Yi continued, "In the future, we'll paint together. Every time we finish a painting, we'll draw a heart on it. When the entire painting is filled with hearts, I think you'll only feel love, not loneliness."

"You might think the method is childish, like a child's. But the joy of childhood is that simple. What do you think?"

Vanessa paused slightly, realizing there was some truth to that.

"Su, I want to draw more hearts."

Su Yi gasped, but since Vanessa was so bold, could he back down?

"Bring it on! Do you think I'm scared of you? Is my full LV6 physique a joke?"
