DAMIEN POV
Morrison approached the jury box, his movements calculated and confident.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury," he began, his voice carrying through the courtroom. "This case is about choices. About a man who chose to help cover up a murder instead of doing the right thing and calling the police."
He gestured toward me.
"Damien Cross is a successful businessman. Educated. Intelligent. He knows right from wrong. Yet when Elena Castellano killed Sarah Rodriguez, he didn't call 911. He didn't encourage her to turn herself in. Instead, he helped her cover up the crime."
I kept my expression neutral. Didn't react. Robert had coached me no matter what they say, stay calm.
"The evidence will show that Mr. Cross actively participated in concealing Sarah Rodriguez's death. He arranged for the disposal of her body through criminal contacts. He helped clean the crime scene. He destroyed evidence. And he did all of this knowing it was illegal."
