Chapter 74 - Experiencing the Harshness of Society

Everything happened in the blink of an eye. The surrounding diners watched as five people from Canghui Academy rushed forward, only to have two of them cleanly and efficiently thrown out by a beautiful young girl.

The teacher from Canghui Academy was shocked by Xiao Wu's attack style. Furious, he shouted, "Idiot, use your Martial Soul!"

On the other side, Oscar rubbed his eyes hard and couldn't help but say, "Damn, she's so strong. Luckily, I've never offended your Xiao Wu."

Tang San smiled silently. At this moment, Dai Mubai stood up again and said in a deep voice, "Xiao Wu, come back. With us boys here, there's no need for you girls to intervene."

In a flash of movement, Dai Mubai arrived at Xiao Wu's side. Xiao Wu turned to Tang San, who nodded at her. Only then did she stop attacking and walked back calmly.

The chubby Ma Hongjun, after stuffing two big bites of food in his mouth, reluctantly came out and stood next to Dai Mubai, his plump hands clasped together, crackling with sound.

Tang San walked toward Xiao Wu and swapped positions, standing on the other side of Dai Mubai.

Three teenagers facing five young adults might appear underpowered at first glance. But is the power comparison really so simple? Previously, Xiao Wu hadn't used her Martial Soul, so the two people who had been thrown around weren't truly injured. When the five Canghui Academy students regrouped, their anger reached a peak, and they immediately activated their Martial Souls.

They couldn't believe that, as students of a high-level Soul Master academy, they could lose to these teenagers.

In an instant, various lights burst forth. The five youths' soul rings were the same: one white and one yellow each, representing a ten-year soul ring and a hundred-year soul ring. All five were Battle Soul Masters, including two Weapon Martial Soul users and three Beast Martial Soul users. The Weapon Martial Souls were a spear and a trident; the Beasts were a deer, a goat, and a horse. By themselves, the Martial Souls were not particularly powerful.

Seeing the opponents release their Martial Souls, Dai Mubai's tiger-like eyes gleamed with disdain. "So these are the so-called high-level Soul Master Academy students? Ten-year soul rings? Brothers, open your soul rings and show them!"

The eldest of the Shrek Academy students, the tiger-eyed Dai Mubai, was never one to reason with others. Tang San had noticed this the first time he met him. Unless someone's strength earned his recognition, his arrogant demeanor would not change.

"White Tiger, possess me." A strong pale light suddenly erupted from him. Dai Mubai stretched both arms to the sides, chest forward. His bones cracked audibly as his muscles expanded, straining his clothes. Each muscle became extremely pronounced; even the air around him seemed agitated.

His blonde hair immediately turned black and white, mostly white with a few streaks of black. Four faint lines appeared on his forehead—three horizontal, one vertical—forming the character "王" (King).

His hands changed the most, doubling in size. White fur covered them, and short dagger-like claws extended and retracted from the palms. Each claw was about eight inches long, gleaming with a dark, cold light.

He leaned forward, his eyes now four deep blue pupils, radiating icy killing intent. At his feet, three shining soul rings rose—two yellow, one purple. As the soul rings revolved, surging soul power pressed outward like waves. Perhaps due to Martial Soul incompatibility, the three Beast Martial Soul users on the other side trembled and took a few steps back.

In front of a tiger, how could a deer, goat, and horse not be afraid? Especially with the thousand-year purple soul ring Dai Mubai possessed—Canghui Academy's students were shaken to their core.

As Dai Mubai released his Martial Soul, Tang San and Ma Hongjun also activated theirs.

"Phoenix, possess me."

A purplish-red light surged from Ma Hongjun. His short hair grew long, forming a mohawk-like crest. Two yellow soul rings rose from his feet, extending along his exposed muscular arms into long feathers. His hands turned into claws.

The hot aura rotated around Ma Hongjun's body. Although shorter than the Canghui students, the aura from the purple flame transformed his presence. Combined with Dai Mubai's White Tiger Martial Soul, it suppressed the opponents, making it hard for them to breathe.

Tang San's Martial Soul remained calm. Two yellow rings rose from his feet, and dense Blue Silver Grass quietly spread around his body.

Without taking action, the release of three soul rings by Dai Mubai had already deflated the five Canghui Academy students. The difference in power between soul rings was clear, and the thousand-year purple ring alone was beyond their capacity to resist.

What frustrated Canghui Academy's students most was that these seemingly younger teenagers were far stronger than they appeared.

"Stop!"

The Canghui teacher finally intervened, waving at his students, "All of you, step back."

Though his students felt uneasy, the teacher himself was deeply shocked. He realized that the three teenagers—whether the slightly older one in the middle or the two on either side who looked only twelve or thirteen—were geniuses among geniuses.

Especially the one in the center. At most seventeen, he already had three soul rings, reaching the Soul Respect realm—a rare feat. The thousand-year soul ring was blinding to witness.

Being a middle-aged man, the teacher saw Dai Mubai release his true power and considered the possibilities. Even if his students could fight, he wouldn't allow them to continue. Some troubles were better avoided.

"I am Ye Zhiqiu, Director of External Affairs of Canghui Academy. May I ask which sect you belong to?" Seeing Ye Zhiqiu approach, Dai Mubai felt a chill. This man's soul power far exceeded his own.

"We are from Shrek Academy." Before Dai Mubai could speak, Ma Hongjun proudly said, glancing at the lone female student of Canghui Academy.

Ye Zhiqiu was momentarily stunned. "Shrek Academy? I don't think I've heard of it."

Dai Mubai snorted. "That's because you're ignorant."

Hearing that they weren't from any sect, Ye Zhiqiu breathed a sigh of relief but felt powerless. He had believed Canghui Academy's students were strong, intending to help one student gain a third soul ring at level 30. But these three boys had completely shaken him.

Ye Zhiqiu realized that these three truly had the right to disregard Canghui Academy. How they cultivated such strong soul power at such a young age was astonishing—little monsters, indeed.

Although impressed, retreating would mean losing face in front of all the diners.

Determined, Ye Zhiqiu activated his Martial Soul, "Xuan Turtle, possess me."

Beast Martial Soul: Xuan Turtle.

Black ripples erupted from Ye Zhiqiu, suppressing Tang San, Dai Mubai, and Ma Hongjun. His limbs shrank by a third, while a massive shell rose from his back. Five soul rings floated above—one white, two yellow, two purple. Ye Zhiqiu was a Soul King above level 50. Though not the strongest in his level, his soul power alone suppressed the Shrek Academy trio.

Gasps filled the restaurant. Soul Kings were rare, powerful, and even granted titles in smaller kingdoms.

Dai Mubai's expression changed, glancing at Tang San. They understood each other and slowly raised their hands, touching the "Twenty-Four Bridge, Moonlit Night" artifact. Against someone with obviously higher soul power, they could only rely on hidden weapons, ensuring a hit.

Ye Zhiqiu spoke sternly, "You children are reckless. Don't speak carelessly. Call your teacher."

Ma Hongjun shouted, "Old turtle, you want to see our teacher? We can handle you ourselves!"

"Everyone, everyone, please, no fighting in the restaurant! Small business, small business…" The owner ran out, fearing his shop would be destroyed.

Ye Zhiqiu, possessing the Xuan Turtle Martial Soul, hated being called "turtle." Ma Hongjun had touched his taboo, and in anger, Ye Zhiqiu laughed, "Fine, I'll teach you a lesson. Let's go outside."

Hidden in the shadows, Yun Chuan whispered, "Good, let them experience a beating from society!" Clearly, he had no intention of intervening like Zhao Wuji in the original story, letting Tang San and the others get their lesson.
