With the capture of Vigoroth, Cain completed the last of his objectives in this area.

Sitting in his sand chair, he began to explore the unknown regions.

Heading north.

Slowly moving in the direction of the central volcano.

The ancient and towering trees intertwined their branches with one another, the leaves overlapping layer upon layer, and only a few rays of sunlight managed to filter through the small gaps to the ground, leaving scattered patches of light like tiny shining clusters.

Wild Pokémon of varying strengths and levels ran back and forth through the forest.

Pidgeotto chased Caterpie, Spearow was after Weedle, but among the trees were invisible yet densely woven webs, waiting for some distracted flying Pokémon to crash into them. Ariados waited motionless, hidden in the shadows.

In the bushes, Rattata or Raticate could occasionally be seen darting across the trails.

Unaware that, from within some underbrush, cold eyes were watching them, while a forked tongue slid in and out of a reptilian mouth, clearly searching for the most succulent-looking target.

A completely typical scene of jungle law, of natural selection in the wild forests.

Cain, upon entering this forest with his Pokémon, immediately broke many of the traps carefully laid by the Pokémon and startled more than one prey that was just about to be captured.

But upon seeing the imposing and dominant: Tyranitar and Aggron, the other wild Pokémon only dared to be silently angry before slinking away with their tails between their legs.

Of course, if there were Pokémon too cautious to take risks, there were also others more daring, who, angry that Cain had interrupted their hunting plans, decided to fight back.

Like, for example, that Ariados who at this moment was descending rapidly from a tree on its thread.

Or the Arbok that had just leapt out from a bush.

The arrival of this group of intruders had ruined their hunt, and being violent and fierce by nature, how could they let the culprit off so easily?

"Aggron, Blaziken!" said Cain with a slight smile, as he extended his psychic power, using it as a way to train the control of his ability: to perceive everything within range that he could detect.

Aggron and Blaziken, upon hearing Cain's voice, instantly detected the presence of those two wild Pokémon.

Clack

Ssshhh

Two sounds were heard.

Blaziken immediately leapt toward the descending Ariados.

Flames leapt from his clenched fists, although they vanished almost instantly.

It was a sign of energy control: the fire from the Fire Punch move was entirely concentrated in his fists. The small bursts of flame were simply overflow from the move itself.

Although the control wasn't perfect yet, and that's why the flames sometimes escaped, the goal was that, once perfected, each of Blaziken's punches would be a true fire fist.

Without hesitation, he clashed head-on with Ariados's attack and landed a direct punch to its face.

Ariados was sent flying with even more force than it had when falling, suspended in the air for a second before crashing to the ground, completely unable to continue fighting.

Aggron, on the other hand, was even more effective. The charging Arbok opened its mouth to bite his arm, believing it was about to succeed. But Aggron, incredibly agile despite his size, turned his body and stomped on it.

Arbok's body tensed instantly, stopping just two centimeters from the arm it wanted to bite, unable to reach it. It seemed like an unbreachable distance.

Aggron then grabbed it by the head. Although it wasn't as convenient as grabbing it by the tail, there wasn't much difference.

Wham!

Wham!

Wham!

He slammed it against the ground and nearby trunks.

It didn't take much. After a few blows, Arbok was also out of commission.

Aggron and Blaziken dusted off their hands and returned to Cain as if nothing had happened.

During this time, as they moved through the forest, they had already encountered several Pokémon like this.

But against Blaziken and Aggron, they had no chance of resisting.

Not because these wild Pokémon were weak—their boldness in attacking directly already showed they were strong.

Both had reached the Quasi-Elite level. But no matter how much they ruled the forest, against Aggron and Blaziken, they simply didn't measure up.

Cain had already spent a good part of the day walking with his Pokémon toward the volcano, and had long since left behind the twenty-kilometer radius he had already studied. He was now venturing into a completely unknown forest.

Just as he imagined, the closer he got to the volcano, the stronger the wild Pokémon he encountered became.

In the previous area, Quasi-Elite-level Pokémon were rare. You had to walk several kilometers to find one at that level.

But now, as he got closer to the volcano, he was running into Pokémon of that level more and more frequently.

Cain was beginning to suspect: could it be that once he reached the volcano, all the Pokémon that appeared would be Elite level?

If so, this place would truly be terrifying.

However, for Aggron and Blaziken, facing strong Pokémon so frequently was the best thing that could happen to them.

After seeing how Tyranitar broke through his limit and reached the Elite level, both were eager to follow.

Luckily, Tyranitar wasn't competing with them for these battles along the way.

In fact, Tyranitar was beginning to show that typical pride of pseudo-legendary Pokémon. If it wasn't by Cain's order, he didn't even bother fighting Quasi-Elite-level Pokémon anymore.

He had become arrogant.

He considered those Pokémon no longer worthy opponents and preferred to leave them to his two battle siblings.

They too were close to breaking through their own limits.

After defeating those two unimpressive wild Pokémon, Cain continued moving forward with his team into the depths of the forest.

According to Team Rocket's map, once they crossed this forest, they would reach a grassland area.

There, ambushing Pokémon were no longer as common; brute-force Pokémon predominated.

And after crossing the grasslands, there would be another vast forest.

Once they crossed that final forest, they would be near the central volcano.

However, both the grassland and the final forest were vast.

At their current pace, it would be impossible to reach the volcano in one or two days.

In such a wide area, if upon reaching the central volcano they found no sign of Mew, Cain would assume that Pokémon simply wasn't in this closed world.

Because if he aimed to explore the entire space without resting a single day, he would need at least a year.

And he had already been inside for a month.

Of course, in that month, his Pokémon's strength had greatly improved.

But asking him to stay here a year... the resources he brought would already be depleted by then.

To ensure his Pokémon kept growing, he could stay for at most two more months.

Besides, in three months, who knew what changes could occur within Team Rocket or the League? Cain didn't want to fall behind in information.
