Chapter 4 - Crazed Monkey

Bang…

That monkey appeared in front of me, hitting me with his fist. My body broke through the few walls behind, flying like a kite, before I was barely able to balance myself.

"Kreeak…"

Without even letting me breathe, that monkey instantly appeared above my head. I quickly rolled to the side, trying to avoid the blow, but I dodged one, and another hit me. His tail slashed at me like a hunter, throwing my body into the sky, destroying the concrete road beneath.

He wasn't even giving me time to breathe, let alone fight back. Just after his tail flung me into the air, he appeared in the sky, his claws tearing through my chest; if not for the earlier breakthrough, I may not have survived this blow.

Joining his hands, he smashed it into my stomach, the blood flowing out from my mouth. My body fell on a broken car. The aftershock from the fist also flattened it.

With swollen eyes, I saw the monkey delivering his last blow, but he got tangled in the red flames falling to the side. Giving me a few seconds to breathe.

"Huh…huh…"

I was taking a few quick breaths before joining this battle again. I took out the red crystal, which I had plucked from this monkey's crown, making him absolutely crazy.

It was shining with a crimson glow, much different from the black crystals. It was warm instead of bone-chilling cold carried by monster cores. It was carrying a warmth which was truly rare in this apocalyptic night.

When I looked at the Bird and the monkey fighting each other. It was clear to see who was winning just at first glance. This monkey was already this terrifying when there were still 2 days left, before the full moon. I can't even imagine the horror it will carry on the night of the full moon.

I quickly clenched my fist, carrying a red crystal. If the information I have isn't wrong, then swallowing this crystal won't be a problem.

'Well, even if the information is wrong, what else could I do?'

With a bitter smile, I placed the crystal in my mouth. It quickly melted just like black crystal gliding down in my stomach, burning my throat as fire spread through my whole body. Like the lava had been put inside my body. The pain was unbearable, even after all I have been through these days. I still can't hold on; my consciousness started to fade. My eyes stared at the figure of a burning bird fighting with a monkey.

'I… I can't… die… until…'

The only thought that remained in my mind before the world went blank in front of my eyes.

"Huh… What happened last night?"

When I opened my eyes, I was lying on top of the broken buildings' debris, with no memories about the night, except for the last moment of that deadly pain as I lost consciousness.

I gave a quick look at the surroundings before thinking about last night's incident. It would have been better if I hadn't done so. The entire city, as far as I can see, was turned into debris; not even a single building was standing.

'What actually could have happened last night?'

My gaze was fixed on the distant horizon where the sun was rising. As far as my gaze went, only the sign of last night's disaster remained. I closed my eyes, trying to accept whatever I'm seeing right now. My head was hurting like hell when I tried to remember what actually happened last night.

The blood-red blurry images started to surface in my mind. Nothing can be seen except intense red light, like a sign of danger, burning my head.

'No… No… it can't be right.'

"Squeak…"

A bird chirp sounded, saving me from this suffering. I quickly moved towards the direction the voice came from almost instantly.

"Squeak…"

The voice was coming from the broken buildings' debris. I quickly started to remove the broken walls and stones. I could feel the difference in my strength, but I don't have time to care about it. Finally, when I threw away a broken pillar, I saw a black bird buried there, its body was covered in wounds, blood covering its feathers, its small eyes staring at me.

I instantly carried him up in my arms before dashing towards my old base.

"Little Guy, just hold on for a bit more."

"Squeak…"

I dashed through broken buildings like a flash, the speed that I had never felt before. In less than a minute, I was almost at my base. I quickly entered through the broken door, entering the darkroom, before slamming my fist on the ground.

Bang!

A crack appeared on the ground, followed by the sound of metal clinking. I waved my hand, swiping away the dust. Taking out the metallic black buried there.

It was completely pitch black with no opening, but just as my hand touched it, I felt a light shock in my body, and this metal case turned into liquid falling on the ground. Leaving a small glass vial and bronze key in hand.

I quickly opened the vial filled with blood-red substance, and there were only 3 drops. I quickly opened the vial, dropping a single blood droplet at the bird's mouth.

As the blood entered its mouth, it started to transform into its battle form, flying straight into the sky. My gaze followed him into the sky as it started to form a mini sun in the midair.

The mini sun, in the sky, continued to intensify, increasing the temperature in the surroundings. At the same time, creating a beautiful scenery of transparent egg wrapping around a young fletchling. Giving birth to a new life.

Unfortunately, this wasn't the time to enjoy this beautiful scenery. I should better prepare for the battle with Night Ranger. I bent down, touching the liquid metal on the ground, which quickly reacted according to my thought, turning into a black box sealing the vial and key again.
