Chapter 198 - Chapter 197: Ino Was Captured by Chie Mai?

Konoha Street.

Two figures darted across the rooftops, moving quickly as if rushing to deal with an urgent matter.

"Captain Tenzo, Senior Genma, why are you two together? And where are you heading?"

One of Itsuki's wood clones caught up to them.

Because the major clans and the Anbu had already mobilized, the two clones he had sent out earlier for support were basically useless.

One had already dispersed on its own. Now, just as this clone was about to vanish, it happened to spot Tenzo and Genma Shiranui hurrying somewhere.

They clearly had an emergency on their hands, so the clone chased after them to see if he could help.

Tenzo was wearing standard Anbu gear and a mask, but Itsuki knew him far too well.

He could recognize him even without using Kagura's Mind's Eye to sense his chakra.

"Itsuki?" Tenzo was taken aback. "What are you doing—"

"I'm just a wood clone," Itsuki explained.

Tenzo immediately understood. "There's been a report from the Special Security Facility. A group of criminals escaped. It has to be the work of Orochimaru's men.

"The problem is, that facility is in a remote location, so there weren't many guards. The news only reached us just now. But since most of Konoha's fighters are already spread thin, I have to handle it myself."

Genma added, "That Sunagakure jōnin, Baki, who was fighting me earlier, discovered that their Kazekage was Orochimaru in disguise. He rushed off to confirm it. I didn't stop him, so I came here."

"As for Kabuto Yakushi, he's vanished again. That damn bastard—I swear, next time I see him, he's dead."

Itsuki quickly pieced things together and nodded. "I'll go with you. But… what exactly is the Special Security Facility?"

Tenzo realized Itsuki had only been a shinobi for a short time and might not know of certain restricted places. So he explained while they moved.

The so-called Special Security Facility was also known as the Konoha Serious Security Facility, but its original name had been Special Prison for Serious Ninja Offenders.

Simply put, it was a maximum-security prison for criminals who had committed murder, leaked top-secret intel, or carried out crimes too severe for the standard village cells.

But since very few shinobi had committed such crimes in recent years, the facility had been downsized and renamed.

"Even though the inmates are all shinobi, they've been relatively peaceful. The prison itself is secure." Tenzo frowned.

"That's why the guards have grown complacent. Fewer people are stationed there now… I didn't think something like this would happen."

Genma gave his take. "This has to be a diversion. Cause chaos while Orochimaru and Kabuto retreat, make us too busy to pursue. It must've been planned long in advance. And I'll bet my life Kabuto is behind it."

Itsuki was hearing about this prison for the first time, though the name sounded faintly familiar. But he let it go for now.

Just then, he received Ino's distress signal from the harem chat group.

Ino had even started a live broadcast. A woman with a mocking smile was dragging her swiftly through the forest.

Itsuki froze.

Chie Mai?!

What the hell? Was this really the same Chie Mai he knew? When did she become this strong? And why would she kidnap Ino?

If she hadn't suddenly appeared on Ino's livestream, Itsuki might have completely forgotten she existed.

…Come to think of it, hadn't he had the same reaction last time when he saw her photo at Tsubaki's house?

Scrolling through the chat group logs, Itsuki quickly understood what had happened.

Ino had gone to the Academy with Tenten to support Honoka.

After the situation there was handled, Tsunade had called Honoka away.

Ino and Tenten then joined the teachers in escorting the students to the shelter.

But near the shelter, Ino had been ambushed and knocked unconscious before she could even see the enemy's face.

She'd only had time to fire off a distress signal in the group.

When the livestream started, her captor had already carried her away. Tenten, despite rushing there immediately, couldn't find her.

Fortunately, the harem chat group had a location-tracking function. As long as Ino wasn't killed right away, support could find her.

Checking her live location, Itsuki saw she was in the woods just outside Konoha—not far from where he was now.

Meanwhile, Tsunade had already declared in the group that she was heading over herself.

So Itsuki didn't panic. He watched the livestream feed while continuing to follow Tenzo and Genma.

Soon, the three of them arrived at the Special Security Facility, a bleak prison at the village's edge.

The surrounding ground had been hollowed into a moat filled with murky lake water—and dangerous creatures lurked beneath the surface.

This was clearly the work of Danzo or Ibiki Morino. Either way, Itsuki disliked the ominous, gloomy atmosphere.

In the middle of the lake stood a small island, topped with a four or five-story tower-like building—the prison itself.

Anyone attempting to wade across the lake would be torn apart by the creatures. The only way to reach it safely was by the suspension bridge on the east side.

But the drawbridge had already been lowered, and there were no guards in sight—only a corpse lying on the shore.

"Stay sharp. Something's off," Tenzo ordered, signaling the other two.

He charged across the suspension bridge, Genma and Itsuki at his side.

By now, the criminals couldn't have gotten far. They should have left obvious traces behind.

Yet the place was silent. Too silent.

Apart from the corpse and the lowered bridge, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Itsuki activated Kagura's Mind's Eye. His face darkened. "There are a lot of chakra signatures inside. Either the jailbreak was a lie, or this whole thing is a trap."

If the goal was to throw the village into chaos, wouldn't the criminals be scattering everywhere, attacking civilians? Why would they all stay here?

Tenzo and Genma exchanged grim looks but pressed on.

A ninja didn't back down just because they knew danger was ahead.

"Let me go first," Itsuki said.

At the tower entrance, he stepped forward in front of Tenzo and Genma.

He was the strongest here, and this was just a clone anyway. Even if it got destroyed, it didn't matter.

Tenzo instinctively wanted to stop him, but remembering it was only a clone, he held his tongue.

Inside, the wide lobby looked empty—no ambush in sight.

Only two figures stood in the middle of the hall.

"It really moves me to tears! You all came all this way to throw a welcome party for us!"

"You're too kind, brother!"

Two massive men, each nearly five meters tall, stood there.

Their bodies radiated brute strength, but their dim, idiotic faces made them look more like overgrown fools.

The two were literally crying, overwhelmed by their own words.

Itsuki froze, then finally placed them.

Ah. These two.

Relief washed over him.

So that's who it is. Nothing serious then. They wouldn't be able to stir up much trouble.

And suddenly, he understood part of why Ino had been captured.
