Chapter 94 - Chapter 093: Danzo Like a Stray Dog Running in Panic

Outside the Hidden Leaf Village, Danzo walked alone, leaning heavily on his cane, following closely behind Anko Mitarashi.

"Is this enough already? How much further?"

Danzo slammed his cane against the ground, irritation written all over his face.

Moments earlier, Anko had suddenly appeared before him.

She claimed that a certain "adult" wanted to meet him—and that he had to come alone.

With Danzo's sinister and paranoid personality, he should have dismissed her outright.

But Anko had brought something with her: a severed wooden arm.

It was the very same piece cut off by Danzo's Root swordsman during the failed ambush on Itsuki.

That made Danzo hesitate.

Not many people even knew about that incident. The Third Hokage had already issued a strict gag order.

So who was making a fuss about it now?

And how many people in the ninja world could Anko possibly call "adult"?

Very few.

Danzo immediately thought of Orochimaru. After all, Anko was once his student before being discarded.

If this was about Wood Release, it wasn't impossible that she had reconnected with her old master.

If Orochimaru knew someone had awakened Wood Release, it would make sense for him to reach out.

But what didn't make sense… was why Anko had come to him directly.

On the surface, Danzo followed her obediently.

In reality, he had already arranged for Root operatives to tail them in secret.

"Almost there. Just up ahead," Anko said casually, pointing to a dense forest.

Danzo narrowed his eyes.

That place… it was exactly where he had set up his ambush on Itsuki.

So it really was a trap.

Still, he put his hands behind his back, giving a subtle hand sign. His Root would be ready.

Soon, they reached the location.

The battlefield had long since been cleaned by the Third's men—there was no trace of what had happened.

Swish!

Just as Danzo was about to demand an explanation, Anko suddenly leapt away.

In the next instant, a light curtain sprang up on all four sides.

A barrier.

A Four-Corner Sealing Formation.

Danzo's expression stiffened.

He turned and saw four kunoichi maintaining the formation, with one standing before him, her expression serious.

One was Anko Mitarashi.

Another was Kurenai Yuhi.

The third was a purple-haired female ANBU operative.

The fourth was Shizune.

The final figure made Danzo's eyes widen. At first, he didn't recognize her—but after a closer look, he froze in shock.

"P-Princess Tsunade!!"

Before he could react further, a voice roared from above:

"Heavenly Pain Kick!!"

A slender leg crashed down from the sky like a dragon splitting Mountain.

BOOM!!!

The ground shook as if struck by a meteorite. Earth shattered into massive chunks, then instantly collapsed into powder.

A cloud of dust exploded outward, filling the barrier with a blinding haze.

"Not good!"

"Lord Danzo is in danger!"

"Hurry, we have to save him!"

The Root operatives outside panicked as the earth quaked. They rushed the barrier in desperation.

But every strike they launched rebounded instantly.

Their own attacks slammed back into them, leaving half their squad gravely injured in an instant.

Even the lucky ones were battered and bleeding.

Meanwhile, the four kunoichi inside were straining to maintain the barrier.

None of them were hurt, but their faces were pale, bodies trembling from the sheer power of the clash.

"Damn it! How could this be Lord Danzo?! Kurenai, you lied to me!" the purple-haired Anbu shouted angrily.

"It wasn't me! I was tricked too!" Kurenai snapped back.

Her face twisted in frustration as she rounded on Anko. "Anko, you idiot! You set us up! What the hell are you trying to do?!"

"This has nothing to do with me," Anko said innocently, shrugging. "I was forced into this. Anyway, if the sky falls, someone taller will hold it up. Don't worry."

"Don't worry?!" the purple-haired Anbu nearly exploded.

They'd only agreed to help capture a supposed spy who had stolen Konoha's secret documents. And now, somehow, they were targeting Danzo himself.

Anyone who got tangled with that old snake never had a peaceful life again.

Kurenai glanced at the last member of their foursome. "Shizune! That's you, right? So the one inside really is Lady Tsunade?!"

"I… I don't know!" Shizune stammered, completely lost.

Only Anko knew the truth. The rest had simply been dragged here to help.

They'd each been placed in separate hidden positions, unable to see anything outside, waiting for Anko's signal to raise the barrier.

And then… boom. Suddenly, they were standing over a battlefield crater.

Now that they were already caught up in it, there was no backing out.

Dropping the barrier would only doom them all.

"Anko, you've screwed us!" Kurenai shouted furiously.

"Meeting you was the worst misfortune of my life," the purple-haired Anbu snarled. "From now on, we're done!"

Anko only chuckled. "Relax, relax. We've got backing, so what's there to be afraid of?"

Inside the barrier, the dust slowly cleared.

The earth was split open by a massive crater.

Tsunade stood tall in the center, one hand on her hip, clicking her tongue.

"Tch. Dodged, huh?"

Danzo crawled from another pit nearby, blood dribbling from his lips.

He had sensed something was wrong just in time, using the Body Replacement Technique to escape the brunt of the strike.

Even so, he was badly shaken.

"Tsunade, are you insane?! How dare you attack one of Konoha's elders! Do you mean to betray the Leaf?!" he bellowed.

This was beyond humiliating.

To be fooled so thoroughly by the younger generation… when he escaped, none of them would survive his wrath.

"Betray Konoha? That's rich!" Tsunade sneered, cracking her knuckles as she strode toward him.

"Let's see if the old man actually dares issue a wanted order for me."

Danzo's mouth went dry. She really didn't care.

"Y-You… don't be reckless!" he stammered, turning on his heel and fleeing.

Fight Tsunade? What kind of idiot would do that?!

Even if he won, there was no benefit. But if he lost, he might lose his life.

Tsunade didn't care. She lunged forward, fists hammering down again and again.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Every strike was like dozens of exploding tags detonating at once.

The earth roared with each impact, the sound shaking the air.

Outside, the Root agents shivered with dread.

Inside, the four kunoichi maintaining the barrier trembled, struggling not to collapse.

Danzo darted left and right in a zigzag, like a mangy stray dog fleeing for its life, narrowly evading every thunderous blow.

The terrifying sounds of her fists smashing into the earth echoed endlessly inside the barrier.
