The other girls approached Itsuki mostly for the sake of enhancing the [Fabrication System] buff effect.
But after getting to know him, they all realized that Itsuki was someone worth befriending.
Slowly, they began to treat him as a friend—or even a close confidant.
As for romance? None of them had seriously thought about that yet.
But for Sakura, everything was different.
In her mind, there was only Sasuke.
For her to take the initiative to approach Itsuki was, in her heart, almost equivalent to betraying Sasuke.
Especially since the system's chat group was introduced with the infamous "Itsuki harem chat group" slogan, Sakura—being a lovestruck girl—couldn't ignore that fact at all.
Now, by acting as Itsuki's wingman in a transactional way, she found the perfect balance:
Both parties benefitted. She could enjoy the perks of the chat group with a clean conscience. And best of all, she didn't have to betray Sasuke. Perfect.
Itsuki immediately understood Sakura's thinking. It wasn't harmful to him, and honestly, it seemed kind of interesting.
Of course, he couldn't just agree right away. He deliberately acted puzzled and said:
"If you want to improve your strength, you should go to your team leader, right? From what I know, Senior Kakashi is a genius ninja who became a jonin at the age of twelve. You should really make use of that resource."
"Don't even mention it!" Sakura huffed in frustration, waving her hands. "He's not a reliable teacher at all! Every day it's just 'Sasuke this, Sasuke that'—he doesn't care about me one bit.
"And when he does have free time, all he ever gives me are the most basic things—totally useless. If I relied on him, I'd stay like this forever, just standing there like a log watching everyone else fight."
Itsuki blinked, a little surprised. He hadn't expected Sakura to see things so clearly.
After all, during this period Kakashi was still living in the shadows of his past, confused and half-detached.
Teaching students was more of a burden forced on him by the Third Hokage.
And to make matters worse, from the beginning to the end, Kakashi never put any real attention on Sakura.
At best, she was just "the burden" of Team 7.
In fact, in the original story, Kakashi's feelings toward Sakura could only be described as "growing fond of her over time."
At first, there was basically no care or expectation at all.
"Hey, Itsuki, I've told you everything!" Sakura grabbed his arm, looking at him with pleading eyes.
"Can you help me? I don't want to be a burden anymore. I'll also pay attention to your affairs. As long as you need anything, I'll do my best to help you!"
Itsuki weighed the pros and cons for a moment. Then he nodded.
"Fine. I'll help. But I can't promise how much I can actually do for you—I'll just do my best."
Sakura's face instantly lit up. She patted her chest confidently and said, "Don't worry, I won't let you down."
Then, unable to hold back her curiosity, she leaned closer.
"By the way… who's your target? You can tell me now, right?"
"I haven't really thought about it," Itsuki said vaguely. "They're all cute and excellent in their own ways. Honestly, I might not even be worthy of them. We're still young anyway. We can talk about that later."
"How can you say that?!" Sakura got anxious again. If I didn't prove my value, how could my group level improve?
She quickly started analyzing the strengths of Hinata, Ino, and Tenten for him, while Itsuki responded vaguely.
Finally, Sakura clenched her fists and declared:
"Since you're not sure yet, then let's just interact with them all. Slowly, we'll figure out which one you like best. Don't worry, I'll create opportunities for you!"
[Ding! Congratulations to group member Haruno Sakura. The group level has been upgraded from LV0 to LV2, and all attributes have increased by 250%!]
The system notification rang, leaving Sakura completely stunned for a moment—then elated.
She instantly understood what Ino had once meant when she said the feeling of "likely becoming stronger."
Sure enough, she had made the right gamble!
Now she was a higher level than Hinata, Ino, and Tenten. She could even show off in front of them.
But having been burned before, Sakura didn't dare get arrogant.
She knew her connection with Itsuki wasn't strong enough yet, not compared to the others.
They could easily catch up to her again.
This mission in the Land of Waves was a critical opportunity, and she had to seize it.
Meanwhile, Itsuki was quietly thinking.
After seeing several group members level up, he had probably figured out the rules.
First, members had to genuinely support him—that much was certain.
Anko had been right when she said the system rewarded "deeds, not intentions."
But there was a catch: those deeds had to be acknowledged by Itsuki himself.
If someone was nice to him but he didn't accept it, then it wasn't really kindness—it was just annoying.
Back when Ino and the others dragged Sakura to Itsuki's house, everyone else leveled up. But Sakura didn't.
Why?
Because she was reluctant. Helping him back then felt to her like she was "doing him a favor," as if Itsuki owed her for it.
If she had leveled up in that situation, wouldn't that just make Itsuki look like the bootlicker?
Some people might argue that this contradicted the idea of "not caring about intentions."
But that wasn't the case.
Not caring about intentions meant you didn't have to have genuine feelings.
You could have your own purpose while pleasing Itsuki, as long as he accepted it.
But coming with malice? Trying to "smash the pot after eating"? The system wouldn't allow that.
Itsuki Harem Chat Group:
[Yamanaka Ino: What the hell? @Haruno Sakura, you actually leveled up? This is world-class news—it'll shock me for a hundred years.]
[Tenten: Wait, what? Sakura leveled up? Did you meet Itsuki? What did you do to him?]
[Hyuga Hinata: That's… unexpected.]
[Tsunade: Is it really that hard to level up? Isn't it enough to just treat Itsuki well?]
[Yamanaka Ino: But this broad forehead—eating from the bowl while staring at the pot—suddenly levels up? Sounds like two-timing to me.]
[Haruno Sakura: Nonsense! Who's eating from the bowl and staring at the pot? Who's two-timing? I've always been principled, okay?!]
[Yamanaka Ino: Then explain your sudden level-up. Are you telling me you gave up on Sasuke and fell for Itsuki instead?]
[Tenten: Yeah, I doubt that.]
[Hyuga Hinata: I don't believe it either.]
[Karin: I don't know Sakura that well, but even I don't believe it.]
[Haruno Sakura: Hmph! You don't get it. Being nice to Itsuki doesn't mean you have to fall in love with him. Anyway, I've got my own way—and you can't copy it.]
[Yamanaka Ino: Oh, there's definitely some shady scheme going on.]
[Tsunade: I don't care what your way is. But if anyone hurts Itsuki, you'll have me to answer to. @Haruno Sakura]
[Anko Mitarashi: Don't say I didn't warn you—Itsuki's already confirmed as a Senju. That makes Lady Tsunade his aunt. So if you've got any ulterior motives… ho ho ho, better be careful.]
[Haruno Sakura: Uh… I don't dare (shivering.jpg)]
[Yamanaka Ino: (shivering.jpg)]
[Tenten: (shivering.jpg)]
In reality, Sakura decided to strike while the iron was hot.
She asked Itsuki to guide her on what direction her training should take next.
At first, she hadn't expected much—she just wanted a reason to keep talking to him.
But to her surprise, Itsuki actually gave her serious advice.
Until she became Tsunade's apprentice, her best options were either:
Go to the hospital and study basic medical ninjutsu.
Or start learning basic genjutsu techniques.
Itsuki didn't know any medical ninjutsu himself, so that would have to wait until they returned to Konoha.
But genjutsu? He had already mastered it well.
So he first explained the theoretical foundations, then tossed Sakura a few D-rank genjutsu to practice on her own.
