Chapter 77 - Traversing the Hell Road

Chu Bai landed on a dark platform and scanned his surroundings. He sensed no immediate threats, but the air was thick with a violent energy, and scorching heat radiated from beneath his feet.

"Sigh, we were supposed to be out of here within a year, but now we've already wasted a year just getting this far."

"Let's just charge straight through."

With that, the magnificent Featherburn Wings unfurled behind Chu Bai, their surging flames illuminating the path ahead.

In the next instant, Chu Bai shot forward like a meteor streaking across the silent night sky. As the surrounding space expanded, the searing heat from below grew more intense.

*Buzz... buzz...*

Suddenly, Chu Bai detected a rustling sound. Expanding his mental energy, he sensed a swarm of bats rapidly approaching through the darkness.

*Boom!*

The Pangu Axe materialized, its Primordial Chaos Aura sweeping outward. The crimson bats that came into contact with the aura were instantly pulverized.

Chu Bai slaughtered countless crimson bats. Soon, a massive figure emerged: a colossal bat with three heads.

Facing this behemoth, Chu Bai unleashed his full Soul Power, channeling it into the Pangu Axe. With a swift downward strike, a beam of light, as primordial as chaos itself, blasted toward the Three-Headed Bat!

The Three-Headed Bat seemed to attempt to withstand the Pangu Axe's strike head-on, but the moment they collided, two of its heads were violently shattered!

Before the Three-Headed Bat could react, Chu Bai, enveloped in surging Primordial Chaos Aura, took a step forward, soaring into the air. The Pangu Axe crashed down once more.

This time, the Three-Headed Bat's body was cleaved in two, its severed halves plummeting into the magma below.

"..."

Chu Bai glanced down at the magma drawing closer, his body growing increasingly feverish. His mind began to blur, and a violent rage surged within him.

He shook his head, struggling to maintain his clarity.

Though he had slain the Three-Headed Bat, the crimson bats still swarmed around him.

Chu Bai abruptly pinched his arm, forcing his gaze to sharpen slightly. He reactivated his Featherburn Wings and continued his relentless advance.

The path beneath Hell Road was narrow and fragile, constantly threatened by the relentless attacks of the crimson bats. But for Chu Bai, with his Featherburn Wings, this posed no real danger.

Moments later, a rustling sound echoed through the crimson air.

Chu Bai halted his flight, gripping the Pangu Axe as he peered into the crimson void ahead, sensing something lurking within.

"Finally here. Kill you, and Tang San won't get his inner core."

A pair of fiery red eyes materialized from the narrow path ahead.

Waiting for the figure to emerge, Chu Bai saw an enormous serpent, its body radiating intense heat. Strangely, nine pulsating fleshy tumors grew along its back.

"Roar!"

The giant serpent roared at Chu Bai, then unleashed a torrent of molten lava that surged toward him through the air.

Primordial Chaos Aura rapidly coalesced, neutralizing the lava.

"Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Serpent," Chu Bai muttered, glancing disdainfully at the creature below. "You're certainly not much to look at."

The Pangu Axe in his hand began to glow with chaotic light.

In the next instant, Chu Bai moved.

Propelled by the Featherburn Wings, he darted through the air, landing beside the Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Serpent in a flash.

The serpent, with its keen senses, immediately detected Chu Bai's arrival. It whipped around, its powerful tail shattering the air as it slammed toward him.

*Boom!*

The serpent's tail collided with the Pangu Axe. The tail was sent flying, still trembling violently.

The Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Serpent roared in alarm, then opened its massive maw and unleashed a barrage of molten lava.

Chu Bai's figure flickered incessantly as he relentlessly attacked with the Pangu Axe. The Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Serpent, leveraging the unique terrain, constantly maneuvered through the darkness, evading his strikes.

*Boom!*

Deep, thunderous collisions echoed through the darkness.

Upon closer inspection, chunks of flesh could be seen scattering across the ground. These were fragments of the Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Serpent's body, torn apart by the Pangu Axe. After a dozen clashes, the serpent collapsed limply to the ground.

Chu Bai swung the axe once more, severing all ten heads of the serpent. From within the severed necks, he retrieved a small, glowing orb that pulsed with crimson-gold light.

"This must be the inner core," Chu Bai mused, examining the orb. It seemed unremarkable.

"Still, this thing is said to be the bane of all serpent-type Martial Souls. Perfect for giving that old poison master a scare later."

Chu Bai grinned, stowed the core away, and unfurled his Featherburn Wings, soaring out of the cavern.

The surrounding temperature continued to rise. Chu Bai sensed something was constantly stoking the flames deep within his heart, causing him unbearable pain and threatening to overwhelm his control.

Chu Bai quickened his pace, desperately clinging to his sanity.

Soon, a vast crimson lake appeared ahead, seemingly formed entirely from congealed blood. Chu Bai gritted his teeth and charged forward.

*Boom!*

A torrent of overwhelming killing intent erupted from within Chu Bai's body. His pupils turned blood-red, transforming him into a savage beast.

He raced across the crimson lake and reached the end of the Hell Road. This place seemed to be a unique dimension, utterly devoid of life, save for an bone-chilling cold.

Chu Bai collapsed weakly onto the ground.

He had made it out, escaped the Hell Road. He now understood that the true terror of this trial wasn't the Three-Headed Bats or the Ten-Headed Blazing Sun Serpent.

It was the ever-present threat of his killing intent spiraling out of control.

If that happened, he would likely be lost forever within the Hell Road.

After an unknown amount of time, Chu Bai regained consciousness.

The Pangu Axe floated before him, having undergone a remarkable transformation. It now radiated an extreme, berserk killing intent.

Without a doubt, the Pangu Axe had become even more powerful.

Chu Bai sensed the changes within his body—a unique ability similar to his fifth soul skill, the Desolate Domain.

However, while the Desolate Domain was merely a soul skill, unusable within the City of Slaughter, the Slaughter God Domain was different. As an innate domain (innate domain), it was unbound by the city's rules.

"Time to leave this place," Chu Bai murmured with a faint smile. He took a step forward and vanished from the Hell Road.
