Jiraiya was completely stunned.
One moment, he had been sinking into the depths of the ocean—and now, he found himself standing in a dimly lit underground chamber surrounded by strange equipment and humming machinery.
"Could it be… Orochimaru used the Impure World Reincarnation to bring me back?" he muttered under his breath.
"Impure World Reincarnation? Revival?" Shisui echoed softly, deep in thought as he repeated the words.
Then his eyes widened as he turned toward the man beside him. "Wait… Are you Lord Jiraiya?"
Jiraiya looked back, equally confused. "And you are?"
"I'm Uchiha Shisui," the young man quickly introduced himself. "You may not remember me."
Jiraiya blinked, then nodded in recognition.
"Ah, yes. The Uchiha prodigy. Shisui of the Body Flicker, right? You made quite a name for yourself in the shinobi world when you were barely a teenager."
Shisui smiled faintly. "You flatter me. It's an honor to receive praise from one of the Legendary Sannin."
Not far away, Fugaku listened silently, his mind racing. Jiraiya… Shisui… Impure World Reincarnation?
Beside him, Mikoto's voice trembled slightly. "Fugaku… weren't we already… dead? Itachi… he…"
Shisui froze at her words, eyes wide. "Clan Head Fugaku? Lady Mikoto? You're both here too? Then… does that mean…?"
"That's right," Fugaku said quietly. "We're already dead."
Shisui's heart dropped. "Dead? Then… the Uchiha Clan—?"
Before he could finish, a calm voice interrupted from across the room. "The Uchiha Clan was annihilated."
Everyone turned toward the sound. A man wearing a three-eyed fox mask stood there silently.
Shisui's face went pale. "The Uchiha… annihilated?" He turned desperately to Fugaku, hoping for denial.
But Fugaku only nodded, wordless.
A crushing wave of guilt hit Shisui like a kunai to the chest. So Itachi really did it… he bore that pain alone… because I wasn't there for him.
Meanwhile, Jiraiya's sharp gaze landed on the two standing apart—Kabuto and the masked man.
"You're Kabuto, Orochimaru's follower, aren't you?" He narrowed his eyes at the masked figure. "And you… are you Orochimaru himself?"
The masked man's tone was calm and emotionless. "No. I am Uchiha Menma."
Fugaku frowned. "Uchiha? Other than Itachi and Sasuke, there shouldn't be any living members of our clan."
Mikoto's eyes softened, hope flickering in her voice. "Are you Itachi's son?"
Boruto—under the alias Menma—shook his head. "No."
"Sasuke's then?" she asked quickly, her voice tinged with fragile hope.
"Forgive me for not finishing earlier," Boruto said evenly. "Uchiha Menma is only an alias."
Mikoto's expression dimmed. So he's not my grandson after all…
Jiraiya's eyes narrowed. "Then why revive us? Are you like Orochimaru—planning to use us to destroy Konoha?"
Boruto sighed, exasperated. "Why is it that every time I bring someone back, people assume I want to destroy Konoha? What did that village do to everyone to make them so obsessed with seeing it burn?"
Kabuto let out a quiet chuckle. Boruto, blowing up his own home? That's rich.
Boruto's eyes flicked toward him. "What's so funny?"
"Nothing," Kabuto said quickly, still smiling faintly. "Just a random thought."
Boruto crossed his arms. "Do I look like a bad guy to you?"
Kabuto smirked. "You want the truth?"
"Better tell me a lie."
"Then… you're absolutely evil," Kabuto said with a grin.
Boruto rolled his eyes, muttering, "Smartass."
Jiraiya, however, wasn't laughing. "So you're not planning to destroy Konoha… and you've revived others before?"
"That's right," Boruto replied, turning toward a corridor. "Come on. I'll show you."
The group—Jiraiya, Shisui, Fugaku, and Mikoto—exchanged uneasy glances but followed behind him.
They passed through a long, dim passage until they reached another room—this one brighter, with chakra seals glowing softly along the walls.
Jiraiya's breath caught in his throat. "First Hokage… Second Hokage… Minato… Kushina…? You've brought them all back?"
"Jiraiya-sensei," Minato greeted warmly, smiling gently.
"Sensei…" Nagato's voice trembled, his expression conflicted.
Jiraiya looked at him in shock. "Nagato… it was you, wasn't it? Controlling Yahiko and the others…"
He sighed. "But seeing you here, I guess Naruto finally did it. He saved you, didn't he?"
Nagato nodded slowly. "Yes… your student succeeded, Sensei."
Nearby, Mikoto's eyes welled with tears as she spotted a familiar figure. "Itachi…"
Fugaku stood silent, but his gaze locked firmly on his son.
"Itachi, you…" Shisui's voice broke slightly.
"Uchiha again…" Tobirama muttered, glancing at the small cluster of revived clan members.
Itachi stepped forward, his expression heavy with guilt and sorrow. He stopped before his parents and knelt.
"Father, Mother… I was the one who destroyed the Uchiha Clan," he said quietly.
"For Konoha's peace, I bore the clan's disgrace and became a rogue ninja. I never regretted that choice—but I'm sorry. I'm sorry to both of you… and to you, Shisui."
Mikoto's hands trembled as tears streamed down her cheeks. She reached out toward him. "Itachi… my child… you've suffered so much."
Tobirama folded his arms, his voice blunt but honest. "So these are Itachi's parents, huh? Well then, you truly raised a good son."
Fugaku blinked, taken aback. A good son? He turned his head slightly, his voice low.
"Second Hokage…?"
