Chapter 78 - Chapter 77: Eyes Are Not Enough

As Boruto's Tenseigan spiritual orb merged into Katasuke's body, the man's eyes instantly turned dull and lifeless.

Snap!

Boruto raised his hand and snapped his fingers in front of Katasuke's face.

After a moment of blankness, Katasuke's eyes slowly regained focus.

"Young Master Boruto… w-what did you just do to me?" Katasuke asked in alarm. "That silver-white orb in your hand earlier… it made me black out!"

Boruto smiled calmly. "It's nothing, Uncle Katasuke. It just means you'll be working for me from now on."

He gently waved his hand, and Katasuke's body suddenly moved on its own—his arms and legs twitching uncontrollably as though he were a puppet on strings.

Katasuke panicked. "Young Master Boruto! What—what's happening? Why can't I control my body?!"

"Relax," Boruto said casually, waving again. The movements stopped. "I just wanted to make sure you understood. From now on, Uncle Katasuke… you serve me."

A few days later, in a hidden base deep within the Land of Fire, Boruto used the Flying Thunder God Technique to appear in a secret chamber—Katasuke standing beside him.

"Your new lab will be here," Boruto said, gesturing to the space. "If you need materials or equipment, write it down. I'll make sure you get it."

Katasuke looked around at the dimly lit, unfamiliar room. Doubt and unease clouded his mind.

Still, he took the pen and paper Boruto handed him and began carefully listing the items he needed.

"Young Master Boruto…" he hesitated. "Will I… ever be allowed to return to Konoha?"

Boruto smiled faintly. "Return to Konoha? Why? Aren't you a man of science? Here, you can research to your heart's content—free from politics, free from limits."

Katasuke's uncertainty lingered, but the temptation of unlimited resources and unrestricted experimentation was too strong.

Perhaps this was the chance to truly bring his inventions to life.

Time passed.

With Boruto's support, Katasuke's research flourished.

The materials and technology provided were beyond anything he'd ever seen in Konoha. His progress skyrocketed.

Boruto frequently visited, observing the results and occasionally offering insights—ideas so advanced they left even Katasuke awestruck.

[Host: Boruto Uzumaki]

[Character Played: Uchiha Obito (Masked Man)]

[Progress: 100%]

[Ding! Congratulations, Host Boruto Uzumaki, for completing the role play! Reward: All abilities of Uchiha Obito!]

Boruto felt a surge of chakra flooding his body.

Thanks to Obito's Hashirama Cells, his energy grew exponentially—raw power pulsing through every fiber of his being. His body felt alive, overflowing with strength beyond measure.

A mirror appeared in his hand, revealing his reflection. His right eye had transformed—now a Mangekyō Sharingan marked by three curved scythes glowing crimson.

[Host: Boruto Uzumaki]

[Next Character: Mizuki]

[Progress: 0 / 10,000]

Boruto blinked. "Mizuki? Are you kidding me?"

He scowled at the air. "The first three characters were legends—and now you want me to play that nobody? Seriously, system? Say something!"

Silence.

"Tch. Figures. A mute system." He sighed. "Mizuki, huh? Whatever. I'll just play through Naruto's story. He only appears for one episode anyway—it'll be over before lunch."

In a remote clearing, space twisted open and Boruto stepped out, summoning a Shadow Clone in front of him.

"Kamui: Phasing!"

His Mangekyō Sharingan activated. The clone's attack passed right through his body harmlessly.

Boruto grinned. "Kamui… this power really is broken. The ultimate defense. As long as I stay smart, no one can touch me."

He looked thoughtful. "Now I've got the Tenseigan, Rinnegan, a mysterious blue-green eye, and a Mangekyō Sharingan… but I've only got two eye sockets. Swapping them out constantly is a pain."

He pondered aloud. "What if I integrate the Mangekyō's power into my Rinnegan—like Sasuke's Six-Tomoe Rinnegan? Hah, that could work."

That night, the Hokage Building was quiet—save for the soft footsteps echoing through its halls.

A tall figure, disguised as Hashirama Senju, strolled leisurely down the corridor.

"Ah, Young Master Boruto's here," one of the staff whispered automatically.

At this point, no one was surprised anymore.

The reappearance of long-dead figures carrying lunchboxes had become a strange kind of normal—everyone knew it was Boruto.

He pushed open the Hokage's office door.

Naruto looked up from his mountain of paperwork. His face was calm, but his voice softened. "Boruto, you're here."

"Yeah, Dad," Boruto said, placing a bento on his desk. "You've been so busy lately… you barely even train anymore."

Naruto sighed, a flicker of fatigue showing in his eyes. "You're right. But I don't really have a choice. Konoha's expanding fast—there's too much to handle—"

Boruto interrupted him, pulling a scroll from his robes. "Then you'll need this."

Naruto glanced at it curiously. "What's that?"

"The Wood Release Ninjutsu Compendium," Boruto said.

"Wood Release?" Naruto's heart skipped. His first instinct was suspicion. "Boruto… you didn't steal from the Scroll of Seals, did you?"

Boruto laughed. "Steal? Dad, come on. I'm the Fourth Hokage's grandson—what could I possibly need to steal? Besides, I already finished reading that old Scroll of Seals with my Tenseigan. This one's my own transcription."

Naruto exhaled, slightly embarrassed. "Alright, sorry for doubting you. But why are you giving me this?"

"Because your right hand was grafted with Hashirama Cells," Boruto explained. "That means you can use Wood Release too."

Naruto chuckled. "Heh. I barely have time to sleep, let alone train something new."

Boruto frowned. "That's no excuse. You could have your shadow clones train instead."

His tone grew firm. "Even if you're the strongest ninja alive, you can't get complacent. What if someone stronger than Ōtsutsuki Kaguya shows up?"

Naruto's expression hardened. He thought of Sasuke's reports—Ōtsutsuki ruins, new threats beyond comprehension.

After a moment, he nodded. "You're right, Boruto. As Hokage, I can't afford to stop improving. I'll take this seriously. I'll study Wood Release—and make sure Konoha is ready for whatever comes next."
