"Wow, if you prepare such a big one every day, can you finish it all by yourself?" Looking at the cake brought out, Kanna was very satisfied. This person is good; worth befriending.
"Don't underestimate the Laterano people's love for sweets. Of course, every evening, after confirming you weren't coming, I would share the cake with the children around here," Luo Cha said with a smile, taking out a plate and handing it to Kanna.
"You've gone to too much trouble!" Kal'tsit didn't take the plate but nodded and sat to the side.
"Um, Luo Cha, are you eating?" Kanna pointed to the cake in front of her and asked Luo Cha.
Hearing Kanna, Luo Cha waved his hand. "I've eaten a lot these past few days. You eat it yourself..."
After Luo Cha finished speaking, Kanna's eyes narrowed, and her hands moved with a whooshing sound. In less than a minute, to Luo Cha's astonishment, she devoured a cake large enough for seven or eight adults.
After smacking her lips, Kanna gave a thumbs-up to the wide-eyed Luo Cha. "The cake is good. Kanna likes it very much."
"This... this... Doctor Kal'tsit, this..." Luo Cha, startled by Kanna's terrifying eating, was momentarily speechless.
"Don't worry, Kanna has a very strong digestive system. On Rhodes Island, she's the kitchen's number one danger," Kal'tsit said, pinching her brow and speaking helplessly to calm Luo Cha, who was almost at a loss for words.
"Hahaha, I didn't expect such an interesting little one to join Rhodes Island in the three years I've been away." After a while, looking at the empty plate, Luo Cha finally accepted reality. Thinking that even the usually stern Kal'tsit described her this way, one could imagine what the kitchen must be like every time Kanna went to eat on Rhodes Island.
Thus, by the next morning, Luo Cha, holding a stack of documents, led Kal'tsit to the entry and exit management bureau to complete their registration, then watched the two leave Laterano.
The vehicle quickly entered their destination, Iberia.
However, compared to Siracusa, which is family-centric, and Laterano, which is outwardly relaxed but inwardly strict, Iberia presented yet another different appearance.
Kanna's first impression upon entering was silence.
As a country with a wide coastline, Iberia suffered heavy losses during "The Great Silence," which almost collapsed the nation. Coupled with the subsequent chaos caused by the Abyssal Church, a cult founded by the Seaborn and their worshippers within Iberia, Iberia has faded from the mainstream view of the continent.
As the vehicle passed along the road, the Iberia people on both sides simply watched quietly, neither greeting nor rejecting, remaining as silent as the term "The Great Silence" itself.
However, what made Kanna curious was that in Siracusa, Kal'tsit had deliberately covered her body to avoid being seen as an Infected. In Laterano, after openly admitting to being an Infected, she could only stay in the wilderness, only spending one night in a nearby "village" before leaving. Yet, upon arriving in Iberia, Kal'tsit drove the car into the city openly, without concealing her status as an Infected.
"Iberia is different from other countries. They don't discriminate against the Infected here. However, due to the proliferation of cults, this place isn't suitable for most people to live. Coupled with Iberia's increasingly tightened religious rule, the once glorious Golden Land has become what it is today."
It was evident that when Kal'tsit spoke of Iberia, it was more with a sense of reminiscence and lament, lamenting how things had changed.
Just as Kal'tsit was having a meal with Kanna in a small restaurant in the city, the door opened, and a handsome old man walked in from outside.
Upon seeing the old man, everyone in the restaurant, including the owner, appeared very nervous. However, the old man merely pointed to Kal'tsit's table and said, "Give me the house special."
With that, he sat opposite Kal'tsit.
Kanna looked up, glanced at the person, then continued to bury her head in her ten-person meal, while Kal'tsit, upon seeing the person, showed no alarm or other emotion, calmly enjoying her food.
By the time the owner served the old man's meal, Kal'tsit had just finished eating.
"Why don't you wait for me?" the old man said.
Kal'tsit said nothing, just sat quietly, her gaze seeming to invite him to begin.
The old man apologized and then began to tackle the food in front of him.
"Kal'tsit, I've never seen you so serious with all the handsome older men on Rhodes Island. Is this your type?" Just as the atmosphere grew heavy, Kanna suddenly spoke.
Hearing her words, the old man was clearly caught off guard, so surprised that for a moment he wasn't paying attention and choked.
"Cough, cough, cough! I'm sorry, I didn't expect Kal'tsit to bring such an interesting little one to Iberia." The old man took a sip of the clear water Kal'tsit handed him and finally felt much better.
"Study time doubled tonight!" Kal'tsit first sternly pronounced judgment on Kanna before continuing,
"I apologize, the little one is ignorant. I hope 'Saint' and your friends will be more understanding."
The old man, whom Kal'tsit called "Saint," glanced at the few people standing at the door who had already drawn their weapons because of Kanna's single remark, and frowned slightly. "She's just a child, speaking innocently. Do you really need to draw your swords?"
"Apologies, Your Excellency!" Hearing the reprimand, the few people apologized while sheathing their weapons.
"Kal'tsit, these Iberia people are as boring as fossils..." Kanna naturally noticed their actions. Just a single sentence and they pulled out knives right in front of her. Did they really think she had no temper? Kanna couldn't help but speak sarcastically again.
"Shut up. Say one more word and tonight's study will be doubled again." To prevent Kanna's loose tongue from causing unnecessary trouble, Kal'tsit unhesitatingly suppressed Kanna's resistance.
Kanna expressed her anger at this. She pulled the nearby owner over, pointed to the most expensive dish, rubbed her hands together, and then held both hands up in front of him.
"Uh... little one, do you mean ten portions of this dish?" The owner's legs were trembling a bit, but his mind was still working. Although Kanna hadn't said a word, he understood her meaning.
After speaking, he looked at Kal'tsit.
"Give her ten portions," Kal'tsit said, taking a stack of money from her bag.
"Since you've come to Iberia, Kal'tsit, how can I let you pay? This meal is on me. Owner, go ahead and serve the dishes. Send the bill to the church later; you won't be shorted a single coin." The old man stopped Kal'tsit from handing over the money.
After the old man spoke, the owner nodded and retreated into the kitchen.
"May I ask, Your Excellency Kal'tsit, what brings you to Iberia this time? And to bring such an interesting little one!" the old man asked elegantly while dining.
