Madge wouldn't have stormed over at the crack of dawn, practically radiating fury, if she hadn't already discovered the truth.
A heavy sigh escaped me. Even someone as polished and brilliant as Madge Uriah could completely lose her composure when it came to matters of the heart.
"Miss Uriah, Mr. Zaid isn't home right now." Kellan materialized the instant Madge crossed the threshold, positioning himself protectively between us.
Anyone could see he feared what she might attempt to do to me.
Madge's lips curved into a saccharine smile, though her eyes burned with barely contained rage. Those piercing emerald orbs seemed determined to slice right through me.
None of this was my doing. Eliminating me wouldn't alter a single thing between her and Soren.
The tangled web of love and hatred binding them together had absolutely nothing to do with me. Yet somehow, I had become the target of her wrath.
