Dahlia's POV
"Dahlia, find my mother. She visits Lashana Spa for treatments every Friday. I cannot let her be harmed." Bill's words came out in a strained whisper, each syllable requiring tremendous effort.
Heavy footsteps approached from the corridor. I quickly disconnected my call with Dorian and dropped onto the living room sofa.
The door handle clicked. I tensed slightly, wondering if Soren had returned early.
Had it been Kellan, he would have announced himself with a knock.
My phone buzzed with an incoming message just as Soren appeared in the doorway.
When he noticed my startled reaction, his eyes sharpened with suspicion, studying me with calculated intensity.
"Hiding something from me?" His tone carried that familiar dangerous edge wrapped in false casualness.
"Absolutely not." I shook my head firmly while checking my phone screen.
Lorena had sent the message. She had made it to Weston City and was growing impatient waiting for my response.
