The moment he spoke, Gyarados's massive body instantly charged toward Absol.

Kenji's heart jumped. He recognized at a glance that the move Absol was using was also a combination move.
If he wasn't mistaken, it was likely a combination of Take Down and Thunderbolt.

If Yuki tried to say she hadn't developed this specifically to counter his Gyarados, Kenji would never believe her.

Its body arched, like a longbow being drawn.

With a final roar, Gyarados shot downward. At the same time, its powerful aura locked onto the Absol below.
With a three-stage speed advantage over Absol, Gyarados was now definitively faster.

A crisp sound, like shattering glass, came from the crater, but it was completely drowned out by the explosion.

The next second, a white figure was sent flying out.
It was Absol.
Absol tumbled through the air and rolled twice on the ground, its snow-white fur now dirty and matted.
In the center of the crater, Gyarados was breathing heavily. The toll on its stamina had clearly been immense.
After all, it had first taken that Thunderbolt/Take Down combo, and then a raw Thunderbolt.
If this were a game, that 4x weakness would have put it to sleep long ago.

But after shattering the barrier, most of the move's power had been spent. The remainder wasn't enough to defeat Absol.

Just as Kenji was lamenting, a furious roar snapped his attention—and the attention of the entire audience—back to Gyarados.
Gyarados's eyes were now blood-red, like two eclipsing suns. A thick, crimson aura enveloped its body, and all traces of its previous exhaustion were gone.

Kenji's eyes widened.
This appearance... this was Gyarados using Outrage!
"Oh my goodness! Kenji's Gyarados! It's actually mastered the move Outrage!!!"
Kenji looked at Gyarados's status panel. Sure enough, in its move list, the move "Outrage" had appeared out of nowhere!

Gyarados had now lost all rational thought. Its blood-red eyes had only one target: Absol. It arched its body and charged!
