Chapter 10 - Famous In The Marine

"These youngsters nowadays are terrifying."

A magnetic voice rang out, accompanied by flashing golden particles, as a tall figure in a yellow striped uniform arrived on the scene.

"Admiral Borsalino!" Everyone exclaimed in unison.

"You're always the quickest to join the fun." A red-clad figure walked over, scrutinizing Borsalino.

Borsalino didn't back down, retorting, "What are you talking about? You're not slow to watch the show either."

Sakazuki said righteously, "What nonsense. I rushed here immediately to prevent any serious incidents. It's my duty as an Admiral."

Borsalino replied, "Oh. So diligent in your duties."

"Admiral Sakazuki is here too!"

Everyone looked at the newcomer in surprise.

"Oh my, the training camp is really lively today, isn't it? Is this the young man? Oh, nice to meet you." Another voice sounded.

Renji looked over at the sound, only to see a tall figure slowly approaching, dressed in a white suit with a blue shirt underneath.

"It's Admiral Kuzan!"

"My goodness, are all three Admirals here today?"

Seeing the three Admirals present, Tokikake felt a bit awkward. With these three high-ranking officials here, he couldn'tdiscipline Renji in front of them.

"Hmph." Sakazuki snorted, his gaze sweeping over everyone. No one dared to meet his eyes.

Then, looking at the soldiers lying scattered across the training camp, he said sternly, "Where is the instructor of this training camp?"

Hearing this, everyone suddenly realized they seemed to have overlooked something.

"Cough, cough, cough!"

"I'm here. Hiss..."

From amidst the dust, a stir was heard. Yamakaji bared his teeth and shook the dust from his body, wondering if he should curse or not.

You've been discussing for ages, and only now you remember me?

So, he, the instructor, was the most superfluous one.

Speaking of which, why did that brat hit so hard?

If he hadn't protected his entire body with Armament Haki in time, he might have been torn to pieces by now.

Enduring the pain in his body, Yamakaji walked towards the crowd.

Everyone looked at Yamakaji. At this moment, Yamakaji was covered in dust, his once thick black beard half burnt off, a large hole in his shirt revealing his belly, his trousers barely covering the parts that needed blurring, and his shoes were so tattered that his toes were exposed.

It could be said that from head to toe, there wasn't a single good spot on him.

"Pfft!"

Finally, someone couldn't hold back their laughter.

Seeing this, Yamakaji was a bit confused and asked, "What are you laughing at?"

"Reporting, instructor, we've received professional training and usually don't laugh."

"Unless we can't help it... Pfft!"

At this moment, others arrived, namely Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman, and Stainless. These Vice Admirals burst into loud laughter without mercy upon seeing Yamakaji's appearance.

"Hahahahaha! Yamakaji, you finally got what you deserved."

"I was wondering why these brats kept running here during their break. Turns out there was such a good show to watch."

"Haha, such a big commotion. If I had known, I would have come earlier to see it."

Laughter aside, all the strong individuals present knew that Yamakaji's Armament Haki was not weak. But from Yamakaji's condition, to be able to heavily injure a Vice Admiral at such a young age, this person is truly terrifying.

Sakazuki's face twitched. After suppressing his laughter, he finally spoke, "Yamakaji, report what happened."

Yamakaji glanced at Renji nearby. Seeing that the other party was clean with not even a speck of dust on him, his face couldn't help but flush.

He then recounted the events, specifically raising his voice to emphasize that he was afraid of hurting Renji and had held back during their sparring session.

"So, it was to better guide the cadets. It's not that I couldn't really win..."

"Alright, go get treated. Don't you feel ashamed." Yamakaji still wanted to argue, but Sakazuki raised his hand, dismissing him.

Sakazuki really couldn't hold it in any longer. He was afraid he would burst into laughter himself, and then his carefully maintained persona in the Marine for so many years would be ruined.

Yamakaji didn't insist further and turned to leave. His injuries were not light, a few more hits might really send him to his grave.

"Hey. Aren't you tired of pretending?" Borsalino leaned close to Sakazuki's ear, his tone somewhat teasing.

Sakazuki's lips twitched, and he just glared at Borsalino.

Then, he turned to Renji and said, "Having strength is a good thing, but today you damaged the training ground. The repair costs will be deducted from your salary."

"Oh. Even training gets punished, how inhumane."

Ignoring the sarcastic person beside him, Sakazuki left.

Borsalino looked at Renji and said, "Young Marine, keep it up. Get promoted and get a raise soon, otherwise that old miser's salary might not even cover the repair costs."

In the Fleet Admiral's office, Sengoku suddenly sneezed. "Which scoundrel is talking behind my back?"

Borsalino said, "The sun is really nice today. Since the training ground is destroyed, I might as well leave work early."

Hearing this, Gion's forehead couldn't help but twitch with a vein.

What does a destroyed training ground have to do with you leaving work? You don't even train here.

Also, can you please pay attention to your behavior in front of the soldiers?

As an Admiral, it's one thing not to set an example, but what's with constantly trying to find ways to leave work early every day?

As if sensing something amiss, before Gion could start scolding him, Borsalino transformed into golden particles and vanished.

Seeing this, Gion was a bit speechless, but since he was already gone, scolding him further would be pointless. Besides, there was such a handsome young Marine present today. He was far more handsome than any host she had seen in the flower district, and in terms of temperament, no one could even compare to him.

"Oh dear, everyone's gone now." Kuzan rubbed the back of his head.

Then, he walked over and patted Renji's shoulder, comforting him, "It's alright, young man. You don't have to pay attention to what that red-clad fellow said. If you really have to pay compensation..."

Kuzan paused and then said, "That yellow-clad one will pay for it, you don't have to worry. Oh, and whatever you do, don't make Gion, that pretty older sister in pink in front of you, angry, otherwise the consequences will be very serious."

After saying that, Kuzan took a step to leave, then paused, remembering something.

"Oh... you all continue training, keep up the good work. I have something else to do, so I'll be leaving now, everyone."

"Yes! Admiral Kuzan!"

Gion retracted her murderous gaze. Finally, there was someone who looked somewhat like a Marine Admiral.

She then turned and shouted at the crowd, "What are you looking at? Get back to training! Look at him..."

Gion then remembered that she didn't know the name of this powerful new recruit. His performance and appearance had piqued her curiosity.

"Oh, what was your name again?"

A fragrant breeze wafted over, but Renji's sense of justice was as firm as a rock, completely unmoved.

"Reporting, officer, my name is Renji."

"Ahem, look at Renji. He just joined and already defeated the instructor. And look at you all, still messing around here! Get back to training immediately!"

Gion then turned and dismissed the crowd, secretly noting Renji's name in her mind. She decided to get all his information when she returned.

All of it!

Gion could proudly declare that her actions were absolutely for the safety of the Marine, and certainly not to find out Renji's preferences or marital status. There was absolutely no personal motive.

Absolutely none!

As the show ended, several Vice Admirals came to bid farewell to Gion, not forgetting to praise Renji before leaving.

"Hahahaha, kid, you actually beat Yamakaji! Not bad."

"Keep it up, kid. I look forward to the day you surpass me."

"I'm very pleased that the Marine has produced a talent like you. How about it? Want to work under me!?"

Renji explained, "Huh? But I'm already in Vice Admiral Garp's fleet."

Stainless patted Renji's shoulder with some regret, then left. "Is that so? What a pity. If you have any questions, you can always come to me. Farewell, young Marine. I hope the next time I hear about you, it's that you've slain a great pirate with a bounty over 100 million."

Fleet Admiral's office.

Purururu... Purururu...

Sengoku answered the Den Den Mushi.

"What? A new recruit challenged everyone in the training camp? Is that all?" Sengoku was unimpressed.

"What! They all attacked him at once? Anything else?" Sengoku raised an eyebrow.

"What! He defeated Yamakaji?!" Sengoku's eyes widened in shock.

"Are you sure that new recruit is named Renji?"

Hearing the affirmative reply from the other end of the Den Den Mushi, he couldn't help but recall the scenes when Akainu, Kizaru, and Aokiji first joined the Marine.

It seemed they weren't quite this monstrous back then, were they?

"Hiss... Hahahaha, Garp! You really brought me a good prospect!"

That day, people all over Marineford heard the news of a rising star in the Marine, and Renji's name gradually became known.
