Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

10 p.m., in a secluded area on the outskirts of Kluang.

"Uhhoo, this place seriously looks terrifying!" shouted a man named Eman, staring at the towering building before him. Beside him stood a girl named Ena. Both were wearing oversized black hoodies.

They were now standing in front of Kluang Mental Hospital—the first of two psychiatric hospitals sharing the same name in the city. This old building had long been abandoned and ceased operation since 2018.

A two-meter-high iron fence surrounded the entire area, with a rusted warning sign that read: "NO TRESPASSING!"

"Eman, you didn't forget to bring the important stuff, right?" asked Ena, glancing at the large black backpack hanging from her friend's back.

"Don't worry, everything we need is in my black bag," replied Eman as he set the bag down on the ground. He unzipped it and began taking out his gear one by one.

Eman laid out all his equipment: his main smartphone for live streaming, a secondary phone for backup recording, a 20,000 mAh power bank, a bright LED tactical flashlight, and a foldable mini tripod—simple gear, but enough to produce high-quality content.

"I'll check the connection first," said Eman as he opened TikTok on his phone.

Once satisfied with the setup, he pressed the button to start the live stream.

The viewer count began to climb steadily: 15... 45... 78... 156... 289...

Within five minutes, the number had surpassed 500 viewers. Comments started flooding the screen rapidly.

Viewer: "First!"

Viewer: "Where have you been these past few days?"

Viewer: "Is Ena with you? Show us her face!"

"Hey guys, long time no see, huh? Maybe around seven days?" Eman greeted enthusiastically, turning the camera toward his face.

"Anyway, welcome back! It's me, Eman. Tonight, I'll be exploring a place I've had my eyes on for a while," he continued, stepping back a few paces to give the camera more space. "And this isn't just any random location."

He slowly panned the camera, doing a dramatic pan shot toward the mental hospital towering in front of them.

"This is the first Kluang Mental Hospital, which was shut down back in 2018," he explained in a serious tone. "Rumor has it, several patients died under mysterious circumstances here. Some say their spirits still wander these halls... haunting this place to this very day."

The number of viewers jumped to 847. Comments poured in faster.

Viewer: "Whoa, new location! You've got guts!"

Viewer: "That building looks seriously creepy! I'm getting chills just watching this!"

Viewer: "I wonder what's inside… I'm really curious!"

Viewer: "There's obviously nothing. It's 2025 already, people still believe in ghosts? It's all just suggestion."

"And as usual," Eman continued, turning the camera sideways to show Ena holding the flashlight firmly, "I'm not alone tonight. My best friend, Ena, is here with me!"

Ena waved at the camera with a faint smile. Her sharp eyes met the lens briefly before turning back toward the building. Instantly, the viewer count spiked to 1,200.

Viewer: "THERE SHE IS! ENAAAA! Finally!"

Viewer: "She still looks as beautiful as ever!"

"Okay, before we head inside, let me tell you a bit about this place's history," said Eman, performing a walking shot as he approached the iron fence slowly. "Because you need to know—this isn't just any mental hospital."

He stopped right in front of the gate, zooming in on the rusted, broken warning sign.

"This hospital was built in 1962, and it treated thousands of patients with various mental disorders for 56 years before shutting down," he said. "Just imagine how many souls passed through these doors—how much suffering, screaming, and madness is trapped within those walls."

"What made this place infamous—or rather, terrifying—was the incident in 2017," he continued, lowering his voice slightly. "Seven patients died in a single night. To this day, the cause of death remains a mystery. No official explanation ever made sense."

He walked even closer to the gate, making the viewers feel as if they were walking right beside him.

"Some say it was a mass suicide. Others claim they were murdered—by someone, or something unknown. But the scariest version of the story is that… they were eaten."

Viewer: "Eaten? By what? Ghosts don't eat people."

Viewer: "Hahaha, maybe you ate them."

Viewer: "Isn't this story fake? Sounds made up."

"After that incident," Eman went on, "there were constant reports of strange sightings. The security guards said they often heard blood-curdling screams from the second floor, saw shadows moving in dark corridors when no one was there. Some even claimed to have seen a long-haired figure... eating something... in patient room number 13."

Ena, who had been silent all this time while providing lighting, finally spoke.

"That story's exaggerated, you know?" she said, turning her LED flashlight brighter, shining it on Eman's startled face. "I've done my research. This hospital was shut down because of government funding issues, not because of ghosts or supernatural nonsense."

The comment section instantly exploded with mixed reactions.

Viewer: "That's a spoiler! But I like her honesty!"

Viewer: "Reality vs expectation lol!"

Viewer: "Ena's always the rational one. That's why I like her! Smart girls are attractive!"

Viewer: "Hey! Don't ruin the vibe! Let Eman tell the story!"

Eman glared at Ena in disbelief. "Hey, do you even realize that's a huge spoiler? I was building up the atmosphere! You just ruined everything!"

"But I don't like misleading content," Ena replied coolly, unaffected by his glare. "The viewers deserve to know the truth, not just some sensational stories that might not even be real."

Viewer: "I agree with Ena. Don't make hoaxes just for views!"

Eman grew more annoyed reading comments siding with Ena, but he kept his composure. With 1,800 viewers now tuned in—a record high for his small account—he couldn't let his ego ruin tonight's stream.

"Fine, whatever you say," Eman sighed, gripping the metal fence with both hands. "Either way—whether it's fake or real—let's go in and see for ourselves. The camera doesn't lie."

The iron gate was tightly locked with a rusted padlock, but as Eman had discovered in his earlier research, there was a large hole at the bottom of the fence—big enough for an adult to crawl through carefully. It was likely made by previous explorers.

Eman went in first, crawling while holding his phone in one hand to keep recording. Ena followed right behind him, carrying the backpack and other equipment.

Once through the fence, they slowly made their way toward the building's main entrance. Wild grass grew up to their shins, nearly covering the cracked pavement. Trash was scattered everywhere—plastic bottles, old papers, even torn clothing. The place was truly abandoned.

Ena walked right behind him.

"Look, guys, this is the main door," whispered Eman, pointing the camera toward the large door that hung half open. "It's already unlocked. Looks like a lot of people have been here before."

He gently pushed the door open.

But as soon as they stepped past the doorway—

CRACK!

The floor beneath them suddenly collapsed!

"!!" Eman shouted in panic.

"EMAN!!" Ena screamed back, reaching for his hand.

But it was too late. Both of them fell into a massive hole that had opened out of nowhere, swallowing them into utter darkness. The live stream cut off.

---

A few minutes later.

"Uhh… what… what just happened?" Ena groaned, slowly opening her eyes, her entire body aching.

She was lying on the ground.

Ena tried moving each part of her body—nothing seemed broken, though she felt as if she had been beaten all over. She sat up slowly with a wince, then her eyes widened in shock as she looked around.

"W–Where… are we?" she whispered in disbelief.

They were no longer inside the dark, abandoned hospital.

Instead, they were in a forest under the night sky.

"Hey, wake up! Wake up, now!" she shouted, shaking Eman, who was still lying beside her with his eyes closed.

Eman groaned softly and slowly opened his eyes. His face was full of confusion. "What's going on… why did I suddenly black out?"

"That's not what matters right now! Look where we are!"

"Why do you look so shocked—"

Eman turned to where Ena was pointing.

"Hey, Ena… what's that… above the clouds?"

His eyes widened.

"Is that… a floating island?!"
