Lia's breath stopped for a moment when she heard the voice.
It was almost... like the earth itself.
The light circles on the ground began to rotate slowly
And the air got heavier, smelling like rain.
She raised her hand from the stone, and the light shone, and the sound of words remained in her head.
> "Hello, daughter of the core... You've been waiting a long time."
She stood in her place, you don't know if what happened was real or a dream.
But the ground under her feet is still warm
And the forest around her looked different-- more alive, more conscious.
And then, out of the shadows, an unseen object.
He wasn't quite human, not a pure soul.
He made it long, his skin as clear as water, and his eyes glowing old silver.
He stood away from her, silent, and said in a tone more than a word.
> "Finally... Pure blood is back on the ground."
Leanne took a step back, her heart beating.
- Who are you
A little smile, he said.
> "I'm the gatekeeper. found before time was born, to wait for who holds the magic core in his blood."
Shut up, you don't know what to say.
Then I asked him in a trembling voice:
- And why me I don't understand anything.
He said, approaching her gently as if he were not touching the ground.
> "Because the core chose you, not because you wanted it. inside you, remnants of the first light
And if you don't learn how to control it, it will swallow you before you know what it looks like."
She looked up at him, and felt something strange-- a mix of fear and reassurance.
His voice reminded her of the whisper she heard in her dreams
Like she's known him for a long time, without seeing him.
She said in a dreaded voice:
What do you want from me
He answered her slowly, as if speaking to the air itself.
> "I want to show you the truth. But the road is not safe yet.
In the village there are those who smell magic in your blood, and those who fear what they don't understand
They're coming soon. Then, you have to choose between staying and passing."
And before you ask him what it means to cross
Suddenly the light went out, and darkness came over the forest like a heavy cover.
The object disappeared, and there was only the stone
It's beating slowly like a scared heart under the ground.
Leanne came home before dawn.
Her clothes were wet, her hands shaking.
Inside, I found her mother sitting by the fireplace, her face wet with tears.
She said in a loud voice:
> "Where were you People say the forest lit up tonight!
But Lin didn't answer.
She sat quietly, staring at the fire glowing in front of her
And I saw a picture of the stone, turning
Like the flame of a fire knows what you don't dare say.
At that moment, she realized her old life was over.
The whisper is no longer in her head
He's been living in everything around her
