Stella had only just stepped out of the bathroom when Adrian returned from outside.
"You took quite a while," she observed as she walked out of the dressing room. "Did something happen?"
Adrian quietly exhaled before closing the distance between them, while Stella carefully studied his face.
Although his expression remained as calm and unreadable as ever, she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that something unpleasant had happened during the meeting.
But welcoming him earlier, she had decided not to probe at that moment, she had chosen to let him have dinner and settle down.
But looking at him now, his composure looked exactly the same, yet there was something heavy hidden behind those quiet eyes.
"Is something bothering you?" she asked softly after a brief moment of silence.
Adrian did not answer immediately. Instead, he simply stood there with his gaze fixed on her face. None of the emotions swirling inside him found their way onto his expression.
