Kaioshin Realm.
The divine realm radiated a pure, sacred aura. The landscape stretched in serene beauty—endless green meadows, crystal-clear lakes, and tranquil skies untouched by mortal dust.
At the very heart of this realm lay a great lake, and in the middle of it stood a towering stone pillar.
Embedded atop that pillar was a sword—an ancient blade that faintly exuded an aura of destruction.
That aura, however, had long since faded. Even Supreme Kai Shin and his attendant Kibito, both of whom had once visited the Realm of Destruction, couldn't sense a thing.
"Supreme Kai, what exactly are you searching for?" Kibito asked, following closely behind his master as they trekked across the grassy plains.
"According to what Gran and Mr. Whis said, my ancestor—the Elder Supreme Kai—is sealed somewhere in this realm. I'm trying to locate his resting place."
Supreme Kai Shin scoured the vast grasslands, searching here and there.
Unknowingly, his wandering feet led him to the very lakeshore where the Z Sword stood.
"Where could it be..."
Months had passed since his search began, yet he still hadn't found anything. Exhausted, Shin collapsed onto the soft grass beside the lake.
"You're giving up, Supreme Kai?"
"I can't find anything," Shin sighed. "We'll wait for Lord Beerus and the others to arrive—perhaps they'll have better luck."
His gaze casually swept past the sword embedded in the stone pillar at the lake's center—but he felt nothing unusual and soon looked away.
Lying on the grass with his hands behind his head, he rested while Kibito stood silently by.
Soon, the Kaioshin Realm returned to its usual tranquil stillness.
"To think... the universe had beings like the Gods of Destruction all along," Shin murmured to the sky, smiling bitterly. "I really was ignorant back then."
"This isn't your fault, Supreme Kai," Kibito said quickly. "The whole incident with Majin Buu came far too suddenly. The Grand Supreme Kai hadn't even had time to pass on his full knowledge to you..."
He trailed off, then added more confidently, "But from now on, we don't have to worry about Majin Buu ever again."
Shin sat up, determination lighting his eyes.
"With Lord Beerus and Gran on our side, I no longer need to fear any evil!"
He clenched his small fists and looked out over the horizon.
"Gran once told me—Lord Beerus is the strongest God of Destruction in all the universes!"
Kibito nodded fervently. "And that candidate for God of Destruction, Lord Gran... he's terrifying too."
Remembering his first encounter with Gran sent a chill down Kibito's spine.
"Hahaha, of course!" Shin said proudly. "I've watched Gran's growth firsthand for so long—his talent is truly terrifying.
If Lord Beerus is the strongest God of Destruction in all existence, then Gran must surely be the strongest candidate of them all!"
"And then there's the Elder Supreme Kai!" Kibito added excitedly. "According to Mr. Whis's own words, even he's a terrifying figure. Once we lift his seal, our universe will surely rise again!"
The excitement was contagious. Kibito trembled with anticipation, and even Shin's youthful face flushed red with emotion.
With such mighty beings standing behind them, who wouldn't feel inspired?
"But... Supreme Kai," Kibito hesitated, glancing sideways. "I've always wondered—why was the Elder Supreme Kai sealed away by Lord Beerus in the first place?"
"..."
Shin froze.
He had only ever heard from Gran and Whis that his ancestor was immensely powerful—but neither had explained why he was sealed.
"I... I'm not sure," he admitted awkwardly.
"What? Mr. Whis didn't tell you?"
"Nope."
The two stared at each other, the air between them falling silent.
Just then
A streak of seven-colored light shot down from the sky!
"Whis, your flying speed's kinda slow, you know!" Gran complained as he landed. "It's nowhere near as fast as my Instant Transmission!"
"..."
Whis's face darkened. "Then why didn't you use Instant Transmission to bring us here yourself?"
"Well, you already started flying, so I figured I'd let you do it. How was I supposed to know you'd take so long?"
"Hmph! For once, I agree with Gran," Beerus grumbled, stretching lazily. "Whis's travel speed has annoyed me for ages! Why don't you just learn Instant Transmission already?"
"..."
The corner of Whis's mouth twitched.
These two really were testing his patience.
He made a mental note: next training session—double intensity.
"Whis, why aren't you saying anything?" Gran tilted his head curiously. "Lord Beerus asked you a question—why don't you just learn it?"
In the anime, when Golden Frieza invaded Earth, Whis had famously been unable to use Instant Transmission. It was only thanks to Gohan flaring his ki that Goku had been able to teleport back in time.
"You two really are enough," Whis sighed, giving them both a sidelong glance. Then, with calm authority, he said,
"Who ever said I can't use Instant Transmission? It's just that we Angels are forbidden from using such techniques."
Both Beerus and Gran froze—then exchanged stunned looks.
So that was it!
Gran had always suspected as much. If mortals could learn Instant Transmission, how could a being as exalted as Whis possibly be incapable?
It wasn't a matter of ability—it was divine law. Angels were bound by rules that even Gods of Destruction couldn't defy.
At that moment
"Lord Beerus! Mr. Whis!"
Supreme Kai Shin and Kibito finally approached and bowed deeply.
Then Shin turned to Gran with a delighted smile.
"It's been so long! You're finally out of seclusion!"
It had only been half a year, but he could feel that Gran was... different somehow.
His height and appearance hadn't changed—still that same stubborn, boyish face—but his aura carried a faint, ethereal calm.
"Yeah," Gran nodded, tapping his temple lightly. "Half a year of training. I just finished recently."
He hadn't even had time to take in the view yet.
Glancing around, he realized the Kaioshin Realm was every bit as peaceful and beautiful as it had been depicted in the stories—an utter contrast to the harsh, destructive beauty of Beerus's realm.
Then
Gran's gaze fell on the stone pillar in the middle of the lake, and the sword embedded atop it.
Beerus and Whis also turned their attention toward the blade.
A subtle tension filled the air.
Supreme Kai Shin and Kibito swallowed hard—they immediately remembered what Whis had said half a year ago:
"Before long, Lord Beerus may decide to release the Elder Supreme Kai."
Could that time have finally come?
"Gran," Shin whispered, inching closer, "did you all come here... to unseal my ancestor?"
"Yes," Gran said plainly.
"Really?!"
Shin's face lit up in pure excitement. "Then—then tell me! Where exactly is his seal? I've been searching this entire realm for months and still couldn't find him!"
