"Da-da-da-da-da-da!!"
High above the ruins, Vegeta was locked in a two-on-one fight. Despite his young age, he wasn't the one being overpowered — in fact, he was the one dishing out the beating.
"Both of you are supposed to be elite Saiyan warriors! So why are you this weak?!"
"Three years of training and not an ounce of progress!"
"And you, Raditz — you're even older than Gran, yet somehow weaker than him!"
Vegeta's fury burned hotter, and his blows became heavier, more ruthless.
"AAAAAHHH!!"
Under Vegeta's relentless assault, both Nappa and Raditz screamed in agony.
Finally.
Vegeta thrust out both hands, hurling two concentrated energy blasts straight at them.
BOOM!!
The explosions threw them down from the sky, smoke trailing off their charred armor as they hit the ground hard.
"Hmph! Pathetic trash."
Vegeta landed lightly, glaring down at the two smoking bodies, then spat on the ground.
Half an hour passed before the two managed to stagger back onto their feet. When they looked at Vegeta again, fear filled their eyes.
"If there were more of us Saiyans left," Vegeta said coldly, sitting atop a jagged boulder, "I'd have killed you both long ago."
That statement made both Nappa and Raditz flinch. They knew — Vegeta wasn't bluffing.
"After this, when you train, you'd better take it seriously. Next time you slack off, I'll make sure you regret it."
"Y-Yes, sir!"
Raditz nodded frantically. Nappa followed suit, then cautiously asked, "Vegeta… once this planet's resources run dry, where do we go next?"
"Where to go?"
Vegeta frowned.
His usual habit was to plunder a planet dry, then randomly move on to another one.
He shot Nappa a sharp look. "What are you getting at?"
Raditz glanced at the bald brute too — since when did Nappa have the guts to question Vegeta?
"I know, Vegeta," Nappa said through gritted teeth, "that Planet Vegeta's destruction must've been Frieza's doing. But… at this rate, our training is far too slow."
He clenched his fists. "Frieza became Emperor of the Universe for a reason. His power must be overwhelming. Even if we train for ten, twenty more years, the three of us alone may never be enough to defeat him!"
Vegeta fell silent.
He knew that truth all too well.
Back then, Planet Vegeta had countless warriors with power levels exceeding ten thousand — Bardock was only one of them. Yet all of that strength couldn't stop the planet's annihilation.
Even with his exceptional talent, could he alone ever hope to defeat Frieza… and uncover the truth?
"Vegeta," Nappa pressed on, his voice low and firm, "if we keep training by ourselves, we might never uncover what really happened!"
He took a deep breath. "We should gather the Saiyans still scattered across the galaxy. If we unite, train together, and harness our Great Ape forms, maybe—just maybe—we'll stand a chance!"
Every Saiyan who still had their tail intact could transform into a Great Ape under the full moon — a form that multiplied their battle power tenfold.
A warrior with a base power level of 10,000 would soar to 100,000 in that form.
"Vegeta," Raditz added nervously, "Nappa's right! My father was incredibly strong. He and King Vegeta must've been able to transform too — but even they perished with Planet Vegeta!"
"I know you're gifted, Vegeta, but… there's only three of us left. It's not enough."
Vegeta didn't answer. His gaze was distant — cold, calculating.
Nappa and Raditz swallowed hard. They'd said more than they should have. Would he kill them for it?
Then, suddenly...
"Raditz," Vegeta said flatly. "You have a younger brother, don't you?"
Nappa's eyes lit up. If Vegeta was asking that, it meant… he was considering their idea!
Raditz, on the other hand, froze. His expression darkened instantly.
"Raditz, are you deaf? I asked you a question!" Vegeta's voice dropped to a frigid tone.
"Heh, hahahaha!"
Nappa suddenly burst out laughing, waving his hands in apology. "Sorry, Vegeta! It's just—Raditz's brother is hilarious!"
"What do you mean?" Vegeta frowned.
"You don't know?" Nappa smirked. "Raditz's little brother is named Kakarot. When he was born, his power level was only two! A pathetic lower-class infant — just like his brother! Can you imagine? An elite and his weakling sibling—what a joke!"
He laughed so hard his stomach hurt.
Vegeta twitched. "Two? Even a dog's got more power than that! Truly the brothers of failure."
Then—Vegeta paused.
He suddenly remembered something. Didn't he also have a younger brother who'd been exiled at birth? And his power level had been just as low as that Kakarot's…
"Tch. Nappa, shut your mouth before I crush you!"
Vegeta clenched his fists, annoyed at himself for walking right into that insult.
"..."
Nappa froze instantly, laughter dying in his throat. What the hell just happened?
Raditz, meanwhile, was secretly ecstatic — finally, that bald oaf got put in his place!
"Yes," Raditz said after a pause, "I do have a brother — Kakarot."
His tone grew serious. "When he was born, we were all recalled to Planet Vegeta. You told me to ignore that order, so I survived the explosion… but I also received a message from my father."
"My father said that Kakarot had been sent to a planet called Earth."
"Earth?"
Vegeta and Nappa frowned. "What kind of backwater rock is that?"
"Actually…" Raditz hesitated. "There's something else I haven't told you."
"Speak."
Vegeta narrowed his eyes. What was this fool hiding now?
"In that same message, my father said Kakarot was the hope of the Saiyan race. He told me… if I ever had the chance, I should go to Earth and bring him back."
Raditz's voice dropped to a grave tone. "He said… one day, Kakarot would become the Legendary Super Saiyan."
For a second, silence.
Then
"HAHAHAHA!!"
Both Vegeta and Nappa burst out laughing, clutching their stomachs.
Raditz rubbed his temples. Exactly as I expected. He'd never believed that prophecy himself.
The Super Saiyan was nothing more than a myth — a legend whispered among their people.
"Raditz," Vegeta sneered after catching his breath, "if that legend's even real, then the one destined to become a Super Saiyan"
He jabbed a thumb at himself.
"is me, Vegeta. Got it?"
But before Raditz could respond, a strange pressure filled the air.
Three divine auras suddenly appeared on the planet, faint but overwhelming — enough to make even Vegeta's breath catch.
Then, from the sky, a young yet arrogant voice echoed in their ears:
"Only you, Vegeta, can become a Super Saiyan? You? What kind of trash are you supposed to be?!"
