Chapter 80 - This Is the Rasengan?

(first bonus chapter ^^).

"Chidori?"

"Rasengan?"

Obito looked at Yuzuru with curiosity. "Brother Yuzuru, are those two jutsu really that strong?"

Yuzuru rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Hmm… they're decent. Among A-rank jutsu, both have incredible potential."

"Huh?"

"A-RANK JUTSU?!"

Obito's jaw dropped in disbelief before his expression turned to pure excitement. "Brother Yuzuru, I want to learn them!"

After all, the most powerful jutsu he'd learned so far was the C-rank Fireball Technique. Compared to an A-rank jutsu—that was a full two levels apart!

And he'd heard clearly just now: even among A-rank jutsu, these two were considered highly promising.

If he could master one, he'd definitely become the most admired student at the Academy!

Even Kakashi, standing nearby, couldn't hide his growing anticipation. Any jutsu Yuzuru described as having great potential had to be something extraordinary.

Seeing how eager they both were, Yuzuru smiled. "Alright, I'll show you first."

He raised his right hand, and a sky-blue sphere of chakra began to form in his palm.

"This technique is called the Rasengan. It's a chakra-based, non-elemental jutsu."

"Its destructive power scales with the user's chakra output. The advantage is that it requires no hand seals—it's instant."

As he spoke, Yuzuru pressed the glowing Rasengan against one of the wooden training posts.

The next moment, wood splintered everywhere, leaving behind a deep spiral-shaped indentation.

"That's it? This is an A-rank jutsu?"

Obito muttered in disappointment.

It didn't even look as flashy as the Fireball Technique!

Yuzuru's mouth twitched slightly. As expected of Obito—brains clearly weren't his strong suit.

While Obito looked unimpressed, Kakashi's eyes were gleaming.

A jutsu with no seals that could be cast instantly…

That fit perfectly with his swordsmanship-based fighting style.

Used mid-battle, it could definitely create a devastating surprise!

"Brother Yuzuru," Obito asked, "what about the other A-rank jutsu?"

"I'll show you."

Yuzuru formed a quick string of seals. "Ox—Rabbit—Monkey… Chidori!"

Electric arcs wrapped around his right hand, and the shrill cry of a thousand birds echoed through the training grounds.

Then, in a flash of light, Yuzuru lunged forward like lightning.

Crack!

The thick wooden post—wide enough that three people together could barely wrap their arms around it—was pierced clean through.

The sight made Obito tremble with excitement. "That's it, bro! That's the A-rank jutsu I want!"

"Brother Yuzuru, please teach me Chidori!"

Compared to the Rasengan, Chidori wasn't just stronger—it had sound effects and a dramatic entrance!

Obito was already imagining himself using it at the Academy while everyone stared in awe and envy.

"Obito, wipe your drool," Kakashi said dryly, pushing him aside. Obito quickly sniffed and straightened up.

Yuzuru chuckled and shook his head. "Obito, I was planning to teach you Chidori anyway."

"Chidori's strength lies in its incredible speed and piercing power, but it requires exceptional dynamic vision."

"If your visual perception can't keep up, that speed becomes a danger to yourself."

"However, with the Sharingan, that problem disappears entirely."

Then he turned to Kakashi. "Kakashi, you'll learn the Rasengan."

"Combined with the Hatake clan's swordsmanship, the Rasengan can be a deadly surprise weapon in close combat."

Hearing that, both boys nodded enthusiastically.

"Brother Yuzuru, can you start teaching us now?" Obito said eagerly.

Yuzuru flicked his forehead. "You think learning an A-rank jutsu is that easy? I'll explain the principles and training methods first."

The two immediately sat cross-legged on the ground, ready to listen.

Time passed.

Obito's head soon felt like it was going to explode.

Hand seals, chakra nature transformation—it all sounded like some kind of divine riddle.

Still, determined to show off later, he forced himself to memorize every word.

Kakashi, on the other hand, listened with full concentration, occasionally raising thoughtful questions.

The gap between genius and struggler was painfully clear.

By the time Yuzuru finally stopped, the sun had already begun to set.

"Alright," he said, "you both know the theory and training methods for the Rasengan and Chidori. The rest depends on your own effort."

Obito and Kakashi stood up and bowed respectfully.

"Thank you for your hard work, Brother Yuzuru."

"Thank you, Senior Yuzuru."

Then Obito suddenly said, "Brother Yuzuru, since you care so much about us, why not just become our teacher?"

"Nope!"

"Absolutely not!"

Yuzuru crossed his arms in front of his chest and refused immediately.

Was this kid trying to set him up?

The Hokage line had a long tradition of killing their masters. He wasn't about to invite that kind of bad omen.

"Alright then." Obito didn't seem too disappointed. He turned to Kakashi, grinning smugly.

"Kakashi, don't feel bad just because I'm learning Chidori. You can be my sidekick from now on."

"After all, you don't have a Sharingan, so all you can do is learn a lower-tier jutsu like the Rasengan."

Kakashi frowned. "Obito, the Rasengan isn't inferior to Chidori."

Obito waved him off with a laugh. "Come on, Kakashi. You know it's true. Chidori looks cooler and hits harder. Right, Brother Yuzuru?"

Seeing Obito's triumphant grin, Yuzuru exhaled softly. "I told you—both are highly potential techniques. There's no such thing as one being lower than the other."

"What, you doubting my judgment now?"

Obito pouted. "But it's obvious, isn't it? The Rasengan looks plain and boring."

Yuzuru stood up slowly, raising his right hand.

"Obito, why don't you take another look, then?"

As he spoke, chakra began surging through his body.

Obito and Kakashi watched in confusion as Yuzuru's voice dropped to a calm murmur.

"Grand Rasengan."

In the next instant, a massive sphere of chakra nearly one meter wide formed in his hand.

The sight made Obito drop to the ground in shock.

Wait—what?! That thing was the same Rasengan from before?!
