Chapter 1 - Smile i never owned

You are the smile i never own,

a love i feel yet stay unknown

an ache that learns my name before i learn yours.

I gave you mornings folded in my palms,

words soft as prayer, hope stretched like sunlight across the room.

I walked into your silence thinking it was mine to fill, never knowing you had no intention of staying.

You were never ready, yet you lingered,

a phantom warmth, a fleeting glance,

the half-truths dressed as kindness,

the open door you never meant to keep.

I learned to count my own patience like coins,

small, desperate treasures that vanished in your hands.

Each smile, each word, each fleeting attention

was a lie wrapped in the gift of possibility.

I burned my honesty like incense for you,

and you watched it smoke into the air

without ever bending to catch the flame.

I was a cathedral built of trust and light,

and you walked through like a visitor who never knelt.

Do you know what it is to love purely

and have it mistaken for weakness?

To bleed hope into empty rooms

and call it devotion?

I loved you with bones and blood and breath,

you gave me shadows in return.

I will not cry now; tears have no home

for a love that never saw sunrise.

But know this, one day, you will feel the absence

like a stone pressing against your chest:

a reminder of a heart that gave everything

to someone who could not hold it.

I was pure. I was open. I was fire.

You were the frost that learned my warmth

and let it melt into nothing.

I will remember, I will rise,

and my honesty will light me long after

you learn what you've lost.
