In the doorway stood a man dressed in all black armor. Each step heavy against the ground as it marched in the room.
Calling this creature a man is a huge stretch, more like a tall abomination easily reaching seven feet tall. The dark aura coming off it felt as death had entered the room.
Its cape, laid in tattered with holes, flowed behind it. In its left hand was a gigantic black sword. It looked like something out of a video game with how big it was.
What shocked Gabriel was the fact that he could carry the sword with one hand. Its right hand began to glow bright red. A weird sigil began to form around it as the feeling of heat began to grow in the room.
Gabriel, since something dangerous quickly turned towards Blake. He placed a barrier as strong as he could around the both of them.
Not a moment after Gabriel put up the barriers that the room exploded in flames. The power of whatever attack this creature used blew Gabriel and Blake through the wall of the police station.
Thankfully, he had the foresight to wrap the surrounding barrier. If not, they probably would've died because of the impact of going through a giant glass window.
For a moment, Gabriel lay on his back, around him, the place was beginning to burn. Before had a chance to move, a large hand picked him up by the throat.
Gabriel struggled with all his might trying, but failing to break the grip. The creature strangely didn't have a head, though at the moment that was the least of his worries.
He quickly raised his hand, forming a gun as he took aim. He fired multiple shots, but it was like shooting into a black. The armor itself absorbed the light itself.
Gabriel soon felt the world fly by before crashing into the wall. The pain was so sudden he couldn't catch his breath.
For a moment his vision turned dark; the only thing that forced him to open his eyes was the smell of smoke. Gabriel tried to move his body, but it was like his body refused. Every tinge of his muscles brings about a fresh round of pain.
"Did someone get the number of the asshole who hit me?" Blake muttered, sitting up. He let out a small cough as the smoke began to grow heavy in the building.
Blake didn't get too much opportunity to do anything as the creature raised its giant sword. With such grace you wouldn't expect from such a creature, it appeared in front of Blake, sword aiming to crave him in half.
Gabriel looked on as Blake barely rolled out of the way, the sword leaving a giant hole in the ground where he once was.
"Well, we meet again, detective", Stolas's voice popped up next to Gabriel.
He moved his head the best he could to look at Stolas. Stolas stood in front of him, chains failing to the ground. He had a huge grin on his face, showing off some of his pointed teeth.
"Oh, come, detective, don't look so dour. You always had to have known that I was going to escape.", Stolas taunted, stepping closer towards Gabriel as he looked him in the face. "Honestly, I wanted you guys to capture me, though I didn't expect you to actually injure me, that was unexpected."
"F..F..", Gabriel struggled to say, his lips not keeping up with the words he truly wished to speak.
Stolas put a finger against his lips. "Shush, it's okay. I already know what you are going to ask."
Stolas removed Gabriel's lips before taking a step back. "What is the point of all this? Was it for chaos? Was it for revenge?"
A loud clang cut off Stolas's monologue. Stolas turned to look at Blake's struggle against the creature, the office now destroyed in the wake of their fighting.
Blake had his shield over his head with the creature putting force trying to break it. Blake was forced down to his knee, but held strong.
The creature kept hammering down attacks that Blake struggled with. When the creature lifted its sword up again Blake rolled to the right, the sword hitting the ground hard.
Blake countered with a hit to its back, using the shield to deal extra damage. The creature felt nothing, merely turning around menacing.
"I'm still shocked at how spry the old man is, willing to keep fighting even with the odds against him," he observed.
Gabriel looked on in worry as he tried to move the muscles in his body. He could feel his fingers start responding to his movement.
He wanted to use Echo to heal himself, but he was wary of summoning the creature.
Wanting to use it as a last resort in case they get overwhelmed even more than they are. Kind of like a trump card to use against Stolas if they ever fought again.
Gabriel has just been circulating his energy around his body. Keeping it to a minimum so the white aura won't show up around him.
"I'm going to force myself to train for a while after this", he thought to himself.
Tired of losing, or being on the brink of dying in every fight they have been in since the case has started. The healing overall is going so slow since he's trying to not show the white light that accompanies it.
Stolas clapped his hands together in excitement as Blake dodged another sword slash. Taking advantage of the slightly damaged roof, he quickly threw his shield, bringing down the ceiling onto the creature.
"The ingenuity, ah no wonder you had the moniker of the 'Closer' or something like that.", Stolas cheered. "Although I wouldn't let my guard down if I were Blakey!"
Stolas had a huge smile on his face as the rubble began to move before the creature burst out of it. Stolas turned back towards Gabriel once again, examining him, stepping closer he oddly wiped the side of his face.
"One day we will meet again, I mean, Blake does have the tool I need to finish my plans.", Stolas told him, oddly staring at the blood on his finger. "For now, I'll take my leave. I have what I came for."
Stolas tilted his head to the ceiling, bending his knees. "One last thing, I truly do hope you survive fighting my Dullahan, because if you survive. Well, there is a gift in it for you, Mr. Gabriel."
After finishing his thoughts, Stolas jumped through the ceiling, causing more structural damage as the ceiling fell.
Gabriel, seeing him disappear quickly, uses his ability to heal himself. He gritted his teeth as his bones began to mend together. It felt like his back was burning, especially in the middle of his back.
Blake was still struggling for his life, the armored creature lifting its giant leg kicking Blake backwards. Blake went flying over a desk, letting out a loud scream as his back hit the fire on the ground.
Thankfully, nothing caught on fire, but the flash of pain was hard to get past. The creature moved quickly, kicking the desk out of the way as it tried to step on Blake's body.
Blake rolled out of the stomp, getting to his feet. He got his shield up quickly to block the giant sword, his feet sliding back against the floor.
Gabriel, seeing Blake in trouble, tried moving his arm again. Thankfully, he could feel it moving as he wiggled his fingers.
Gabriel quickly removed his right arm from the wall. Pointing his hand at the Dullahan, he summoned a giant hand that appeared right to behind it.
The hand quickly wrapped itself around the Dullahan, stopping it from attacking Blake. Gabriel flung the Dullahan as hard as he could muster.
The creature went flying through multiple different walls. Causing the already fragile building to shake even more.
Gabriel quickly removed himself from the wall that he was stuck in, landing on his feet a little wobbly. He rushed towards Blake, who was now standing on his feet.
"Are you okay?", He asked
"Honestly, I've been worse." Blake admitted as he stretched out his back. "I will admit that being kicked through a table on fire isn't fun. A zero out of ten experience I wouldn't do again."
"On that note, I think we should head out of this burning building before the Dullahan comes back."
Blake looked at Gabriel with a puzzled expression on his face. "Is that the name of the shit that just attacked us?"
"Yeah, Stolas mentioned it to me right before he left."
"I can't get rid of that guy at all."sighed Blake.
The sound of heavy footsteps broke the duo's conversation. Gabriel, didn't have the chance to brace himself before he was picked up off his feet.
He felt the world blur with some pain as people carried him through multiple walls.
