Blake fought hard to keep his face neutral; the tightening his fist expressed to Gabriel how he felt about the situation.
"Come, officers, sit, let's break silence with words", Stolas spoke up when no one made a move to take a chair.
"You have some nerve-", Blake started but soon trailed off at the look on Gabriel's face.
Gabriel gestured towards the chair Blake was setting in once before. At first reluctant to move, Blake let out a deep sigh before sitting in the chair. Sitting down with a loud thump.
Gabriel had to bite the inside of his check to stop from laughing at Blake's reactions. Crossing his arms like a child in timeout.
Quickly, Gabriel took a seat from across Stolas. Once again observing Stolas, the feeling of familiarity was strong, but he didn't understand why.
Stolas fidgeted in the chair, the chains rattling, looking the littlest bit uncomfortable at Gabriel's gaze. "I'm flattered at the way you're staring at me, maybe take a picture to keep on your desk.", He joked.
Gabriel nor Blake took the bait, instead they both remained quiet. Gabriel didn't bring any of the case files this time. Wanting to take a different approach, instead of relying on perceived guilt.
"Come on guys this is starting to get boring if we are going to just sit here. At least say something.", Stolas whined once again.
"Something.", Blake sarcastically said.
"Huh you think you're funny don't you"
Blake made a so-so hand gesture. "Honestly it can go either way if someone finds me funny"
"I see", Stolas grunted, dropping the topic completely.
"I just want to know why?"Gabriel finally asked, his gaze never leaving Stolas.
"I think you're going to have to be a little bit more specific my friend." Stolas answered the smirk leaving his face for the first time since entering the room.
"Let me be more specific, why did you murder Andrew Walterson?"
As soon as Gabriel finished speaking those words it was like the room turned colder. The playfulness in Stolas's body instantly left. His eyes turned cold, calculating even.
"Are you accusing me of murder officer?"Stolas spat.
"Of course not, I'll rephrase my question for you. Did have any involvement in the untimely death of Andrew Walterson?"
Gabriel felt Blake's intense gaze on the back of his neck. Combined with Stolas's cold gaze, for Gabriel the tension was strong in the air.
He refused to back down, ignoring Blake, he held Stolas's gaze. Eyes unwavering, the idea Gabriel had was to make Stolas feel trapped.
Gabriel was hoping to ask his real question, a thought that has been on his mind. Will two questions to be exact why target people close to Blake instead of Blake himself.
The other question, Does he know who Cain Corson was. Maybe he could be wrong, but it's as if Stolas on some level knows them. I mean both of them went to the military so it wouldn't be so farfetched if they met each other there
"Decective.", Spoke Stolas finally, breaking Gabriel from his thoughts. "I haven't had any dealings with anyone named Andrew Walterson. And frankly I don't know he pertains to this case at all."
Gabriel observed Stolas's body language. Noticing how pale his face became, how small beads of sweat started forming. This was the pressure he wanted to build in him, loosening up his overall demeanor
"I'm starting to think I should lawyer up, if you guys are going to keep throwing around baseless accusations."
"Do you honestly think you're going to be able to get a lawyer.", Blake replied in the place of Gabriel.
"Aye so the rotten pig does speak.", Stolas goaded.
Blake once again didn't take the bait instead staying silent. Stolas, noticing that Blake didn't give the reaction he wanted, ended up scowling.
"Per your laws I have the right to an attorney, and a fair trial as well." Stolas decided to add, his voice icy.
"I also punched you on camera, at this point I don't give a fuck about your rights."
"Now, Blake, we are still officers of the law, if Stolas would like to lawyer up we have to give him that right.", Gabriel scolded.
"Just add to the other list of rules I have broken over the years."
"This is the corruption I was talking about prior, how there is a system that people abuse for their own gain.", Stolas lectured.
Blake let out a loud snort. "Right like I would listen to a person that goes out and murders people."
"At least I stay true to who I am and don't hide behind a badge to hide who I really am."
"Oh then who am I really?"
"You're nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing. A coward who uses their badge as a means to get away with crimes normal people wouldn't dare try.", Stolas growled.
Blake let out a slow clap, the sound loud. Mocking even in the tiny room they're in. "Wow you must've really done your work on me if you know oh so much.", he taunted, finishing the sentence with a final clap.
"You're pathetic!"
"At least I'm not the one sitting there in chains!"
Stolas didn't offer a reply, just snarled showing his teeth.
Gabriel closed his eyes for a moment letting the drama for the last few minutes die down. He is happy that Blake seems to be picking up on what he's trying to do. Also not raising any insults have been helpful with keeping Stolas off of his game.
Feeling like enough time has passed Gabriel opened up his eyes to Stolas still frowning. Compared to earlier where he was joking around, keeping a small smile on his face.
Stolas now is more somber, angry, icy with his emotions. At least those are the emotions that Gabriel could pick up from Stola's body language.
"Can we get back to the question, or is there more you need to say?", Gabriel asked, now sitting up straight in the chair.
Stolas opened his mouth, before closing it after letting out a deep sigh. "If you have any more questions then ask before I end up changing my mind."
"What branch of the military did you serve?"
"Marines, fourth Platoon, Alpha Company."
"At any time during your service did you end up meeting a man by the name Cain Corson."
Stolas's eyes widened in shock though he quickly schooled his facial features. His face becomes an air of neutrality.
Gabriel waited patently as the seconds went by, hoping that Stolas would answer the question.
"Come on a serial killer like you shouldn't be so scared to answer a little ole question.", Blake sassed, adding to the already heavy tension in the room.
Stolas lifted his head and looked past Gabriel at Blake. Even with his gaze focused on Blake, Gabriel couldn't help shiver at the angry look.
"Cain Corson, he was a better man than you or I.", finally Stolas spoke up, his while angry had a hint of respect in it.
"He was a good kid."
"And even better man, one who risked his life to save mine at one point."
"Then we can say you were close friends at some point?", questioned Gabriel.
"Yeah, something like that.', muttered Stolas, though the entire room was able to hear it.
Gabriel cleared his throat, getting Stolas's attention, and hoping to break the somber that had fallen over the room. "Did you know-"
"Enough of these questions, I grow weary of these games!" interrupted Stolas
Blake stood up from his chair, the sound of it scratching the floor. "Well suck it the fuck up, unless you want to admit to murder!", he sneered.
"I think I'll cash in my rights and call for my lawyer."
"Oh you got to be kidding me", Blake growled, his footsteps loud as he mad his way towards Stolas.
Gabriel quickly stood up using his right hand to hold Blake back. "Blake, you've been doing well not getting pissed off. Don't let him get into your head now."
"Yeah, listen to your partner detective, we don't want you getting into any more trouble."
Blake clenched his jaw tightly, but one look from Gabriel got him to at least back away from the table going back to where his chair was.
Seeing Blake calming himself down, Gabriel turned towards the Stolas. "If you have a lawyer we can allow you to call him. If not, we will appoint you one."
Stolas shrugged his shoulders, the chains rattling at the sudden movement. "Nope, my lawyer should be here any second.
"This guy is fucking nuts.", Blake whispered under his breath.
Stolas just smirked, leaning back in his chair acting confident. His demeanor is different compared to the meek behavior he was just showcasing.
Gabriel went to ask another question when the door blew off its hinges. The door itself landed at Gabriel's feet.
"Holy shit!"Blake shouted in shock.
Gabriel's eyes widened at the tall figure standing in the doorway.
