May 22, Year 2065
SPI Entertainment Building, Hannam-dong, Seoul
A small butterfly flitted through the air vent of a square room, where the hum of the air conditioner blended with the news broadcast from the television.
"DJ BezBoy has departed from Haneda Airport! Can't wait for the podcast tonight~" The TV crackled, mingling with the whirring of the air conditioner.
In the room, rows of chairs were neatly aligned, and a young man in his early twenties sat alone, filling out forms. The tiny insect hovered and landed on the back of his shirt, seamlessly blending into the black fabric without him noticing.
"So quiet… I guess we got here too early," he muttered, his stomach growling,
"Auditions aren't until ten O, right?"
The plain-looking Asian young man rubbed his stomach and muttered to himself. Just then, the door creaked open, revealing a long-haired young man carrying a sandwich.
"Wowee! The air is freezing!" he exclaimed, plopping down into a chair on the opposite side. "Yay~ life goes on like this again~ heh heh." The mysterious good-looking guy ate his sandwich quietly, then glanced at the plain young man. "Oh! Thought I was the only one here. Hey there~"
"Hi. You're here for the audition too?" i asked him calmly.
"Yeye, looks like we're in the first batch! Huh?!" The long-haired man walked over and sat beside him. "So quiet in here, haha. Oh! Ji Sang-hye, or just call me K. Nice to meet you."
"O~K..... Woo Seokjin. It's nice to make a friend during auditions. SPI doesn't mess around; they are very picky about their trainees."
"Hey, as trainees, we'll probably get to know each other more. It'll be tough tho', but fun! Here's hoping we both make it, um~~ cross ya finkas!"
"Yeah... right...." uUuuU~ A grumble sound came from his stomach. "That wasn't a fart...."
"Oh, someone must be hungry~ eh?" K said, offering the remaining sandwich to Seokjin. The plain man accepted the food.
"Thanks," Seokjin murmured.
"Usually, i would eat chaltteok but, sandwich's alright. We're the only two in the room anyway, and besides, I need to borrow your laser pen. Cuz i got none, hehe," K said, leaning over to glance at Seokjin's documents. His handsome face made Seokjin feel slightly envious.
"Mr.Woo, Born October 12, 2045?!" K's eyes widened in surprise. "Damn! born in the same month! Mine's October 4, '44, Ya~ lil' brothaa~"
Seokjin replied with a smile. "Ah, what a surprise!"
Seokjin scanned the room. Holographic posters of the popular man band D\8/ from OPP4 adorned the walls, eight members raising their hands to welcome new trainees auditioning that day, May 22.
Constantly, the two man chatted in the empty square room until a bell rang loudly.
"Time to submit your forms! Let's go my man!" K nudged Seokjin, pumping him up. A window for submitting applications slid open, and they handed their documents to the waiting female staff.
"Hmm~ Woo Seokjin, height 177 cm, three-time gold medalist in rap and R&B competitions… looks okay, though a bit plain-looking. But as for talent, no problem," the woman nodded before checking K's forms.
"Ji Sanghye, height 178 cm, four-time cover dance champion, winner since age 12. This one's interesting~ If trained young, you'd be shine. Hmm…" The woman looked up, her gaze sharp enough to make both men tense.
"You two are older than all the other contestants. What makes you think you're better than them?" The woman asked in a firm tone.
"Cuz we are friends~" K replied while touching Seokjin's shoulder "Experience talks!"
"Ya, I agreed" Seokjin nodded lightly. "I've admired your company since I was a little, and I… I mean, we want to enter the competition. After that, we'll fight our way to the top.....um~"
"Right~" K finished pal's sentence with a decisive hook. "Motivation talks too!"
"Hmm ~~~" She paused, studying them carefully, causing them to bite their lips nervously.
"Alright~" Thump! Thump! The stamps fell on both forms. "You both meet the standard!"
