Am I single? Yeah. For now, I don't want my heart broken again. At this point, I barely understand women's emotions. They want a guy like me to care for them, yet they never return the favor. And if they don't shed a tear for me, I won't for them either. The more you care, the less it seems to be enough. In the end, I've convinced myself: women… aren't necessary for my life.
Brrrrring! My phone vibrated. I picked it up to answer the call from a mysterious number.
"Yoboseyo?" I greeted.
"Annyeong, you're Woo Seokjin, right?" A happy voice said.
"K? H-how did you get this number?!" My voice carried a bit too loudly, and a few passengers on the bus glanced at me. "Oh Please, don't mind me."
"Hehe, social media makes it easy to find someone y'know~ cuz u didn't accept my friend request! You're staying near me, not too close, but close enough to meet. Wanna grab a bite at Mangwon Market?"
"Oh! My bus is passing by now. Okay, I'll stop by. Send me your lotio- i mean location."
"Ha! 'kay, will do." Doo-doot! K sent me his location after hanging up.
"I'll get off at the next stop, please!" I told the driver, who pulled over for me. Following K's coordinates, I arrived at a stir-fried glass noodle restaurant.
"Hey! Woo Suc-Suc-Jin!" someone called out. I turned to find K already sitting there, sipping a smoothie. "Come, take a seat," he said.
"Thanks." I waved and sat across from him. "So you live nearby?"
"Not really." K chuckled through his straw, making his smoothie bubble. "I'm the outskirt, we have a farm there, old shitty house, but I came to stay at my aunt's in Ahyeon-dong, waiting for the audition results. There were a lot of pretty girls auditioning, but they're all under 15-16. Among the guys, you and I are practically past the cutoff. I wonder… at 20, still competing with these kids? And if we get selected as trainees, how will the younger ones look at us?"
"Well, that's life, hehe," I chuckled. "It's not unusual. Even Gong Minjun from D\8/ got in at 21."
"J.Minjun… no one's too old to learn, blabla, hehe. Uh, aren't you gonna order something?"
"Not really hungry. I cleaned the convenience store and ate free snacks earlier."
"You work at convenience store? Didn't know that!"
"Gotta take whatever i can. Opportunities are so demanding in this city."
"So picky, no unemployed. Blabla… Xu Wen never said that. I'm tired of quotes. These rich folks always say that once they own everything. Real opportunity comes from doing, not listening."
"You can make your own quotes, right?" I nodded with a smirk.
"Yaya, I think i got one umm~ i pissed on trees and~~ they grow. Bahahaha~" Yup, He just laughed his ass off.
"Jeez, that's motivational." i cracked a smile
"We shall see the results soon. I hope you pass and become a trainee. From the first time I saw you, I knew you're a don't really give a shit kind of guy, but deep down, I believe...that you! might! have! the! talent. Might even surpass me someday."
"Nice of you to see it that way. Wish I could be more like that," I said, staring at his sparkling, happy eyes with a twinge of envy. 'Is he deadass?' i let my mind spoke.
"Hehe~ If we get in, we'll be walking through fields of Mugunghwa! Just kidding. But in a year or so, when we debut, we might go separate ways graduate, work, life… Separate. Finding a real friend is so hard, sigh~" K slurped the last of his smoothie and tossed the cup on the floor. A cleaning robot rolled by to pick it up. "Oh, by the way, on results day, The senior will return home. Gangnam Elle, the Rabbit Foot! Gangnam Elle," he stated.
My eyes widened "Wait! Elle? Isn't he retired?" i replied.
"'Bruh, he's still active. He just got back from Shanghai,"
"Huh... Ya, i don't really care much."
"Man~ you should follow the news..... sometime not every time....." K was at the dead end so i extended his last words. ".....stop it, or i'll flee to the farm."
My words made his eyes widen once more "maybe it's working as a rhyme" he said.
"cuz we're partner in crime, yeah~." we both laughed our butts off "hahahaa~."
We joyfully talked until it almost got dark, realizing the time, and took a taxi back to our dorms. Once I arrived, I quickly updated my social media story so my old classmates would see. I posted a photo of the empty announcement board.
"#FaxThatBoard, results drop the day after tomorrow~ Stay hyped~"
