Chapter 18
Power Like a Miracle
In a bad mood, Yi Fan sat in a luxurious reception room at a clubhouse in City A. He gulped down fine liquor like cheap booze. His arms embraced two beautiful women who had been called specifically to service him.
He was still unsatisfied. Thoughts of the stunningly beautiful young woman he'd met today only irritated him further!
"Young Master Yi, someone photographed that woman on the walking street today."
Liang Zhongxin, who wasn't far away, held out his phone to show. In it was an image of Bai Fanxian's face smiling faintly. The two women in Yi Fan's embrace sneaked a peek. They all had to admit they couldn't compare to the young woman in this picture at all!
Yi Fan grew even more annoyed. He threw the phone back to Liang Zhongxin with such force that Liang had to jump to catch it.
Rumble
At that moment, he suddenly felt pressure like a huge wave. It came crashing through him and spread out rapidly. Yi Fan stood up.
The cultivators in the room all sensed it. They exchanged fearful glances because they didn't know what happened. Only Yi Fan looked toward the direction that wave came from thoughtfully.
The elderly medicine shop owner who was closing up also felt this wave of power. He trembled, unsure of the cause, looking toward one corner of the shop.
The cultivators in City A all stopped their activities in unison after feeling this wave of qi pressure surging like a giant wave.
The quiet night erupted into chaos...
.
.
.
In the room that was the source of the disturbance, Bai Fanxian sensed her own qi with surprise. She'd intended to use pure qi to guide that pill, helping it circulate smoothly in this child's body. The result, however, was unexpected.
Her qi actually stimulated that pill to rise another level. The special phenomenon that occurred—powerful enough to be sensed at a distance—was something that only happened when refining or using pills of level 6 or above.
However, that pill was only level 5!
There was no way that phenomenon could occur. What should happen was just the small phenomenon at first that occurred in the room.
That grand phenomenon occurred after her pure qi merged with the pill.
Bai Fanxian thought she needed to investigate this matter later.
She turned to pay attention to what was happening in front of her first. Little Yeye floated in midair, unconscious. A gentle aura flowed around her like silk, slowly repairing the damaged parts of the little child's body at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Her furrowed brow relaxed. Her emaciated body filled out with vitality. The girl's face showed the flushed color of someone with good health.
The little child even looked like she got one or two years younger!
Even a fool could see she must definitely be healed!
This kind of treatment was like a miracle from the heavens!
"My lady is amazing."
Hui'er, watching the scene in front, praised her lady with admiration. The Tang clan members who heard all nodded unconsciously. Especially for the Tang clan head Tang Tianjie, whose eyes had tears streaming down uncontrollably.
"...This is it. This is true alchemy... This is the power of pills..."
The old man murmured softly, seemingly dazed. He felt that what he had studied and been passionate about wasn't in vain. Because the magnificent destination had appeared before his eyes!
The old man decided once more.
No matter what, he must become her disciple!
He didn't need to be an official disciple. He only asked to be able to occasionally request knowledge from her!
The girl floating in midair emitted brilliant white light one last time. She floated down to lie on the bed softly and gently. Everyone could sense the happiness from the little smile on her face.
Suddenly, the little child began coughing non-stop. She coughed something out from her body. Bai Fanxian used qi to stop it in midair.
The remaining power of the pill erupted lightly once more to heal. Tang Yeye's face looked healthy again instantly.
Tang Tianjie, who was closest, moved in to look closely. From his granddaughter's body came a small worm just a few centimeters in size. It wriggled briefly, then went still.
"This is..."
"Life-Draining Parasite." Bai Fanxian spoke flatly. Uncle Huang nearby hurried out to get a clear tube to receive the parasite's corpse from Bai Fanxian.
"Grandmaster Bai, could you explain?"
Tang Tianjie asked. He could already sense that this parasite must not be a good thing.
"It slowly drains the host's life force and qi until death."
Her explanation was brutally brief. But that alone sent a chill through everyone in the room. Tang Tianjie, who caught some hint, asked Bai Fanxian further:
"Could it have occurred naturally?"
"No..." Bai Fanxian turned back to make eye contact with Tang Tianjie.
"...It seems someone wanted this little child to die."
The young woman's answer made Tang Tianjie's mustache twitch.
"And it's a slow, torturous death too..."
Bai Fanxian left that final remark and walked out of the room, Hui'er running after her. Behind them, only Tang Tianjie remained, trembling with rage. Tang Xiuhuan himself was also angry. But feeling the qi current bursting from his father's body, he immediately knew how furious his father was.
"Investigate...I must know who dared to use this disgusting thing to harm my granddaughter!"
Tang Tianjie's voice rang out like wrathful thunder. The pressure of a Martial Master-level cultivator shot toward the sky. Hui'er, who was following behind Bai Fanxian, actually startled and grabbed her lady's waist unconsciously.
That night, the Tang clan members witnessed just how terrifying their clan head could be when enraged.
As for Bai Fanxian, she wouldn't be shaken by pressure at this level. She just patted Hui'er's head lightly and led the little child back to her bedroom.
.
.
.
Morning came bright and clear. Hui'er, who for the first time slept on a bed that was both soft and comfortable, woke up because of the light knocking at the door in the early morning.
Drowsy, the little child startled, thinking everything that had happened was a dream. When she turned to see her stunningly beautiful lady sitting on the balcony sipping warm tea with steam rising, however, she sighed in relief.
She was truly afraid that everything had been a dream.
If she woke up to find herself on the roadside, she would be so sad.
"Go open the door."
Bai Fanxian spoke softly but she heard clearly. The little child quickly got up and tidied the bed efficiently. She hurried to the door where a guest was waiting.
Hui'er reached for the doorknob. When she opened the door, she was surprised. In front of her was a cute little girl even smaller than her, standing there. That child's eyes stared at her questioningly.
"...Hello!"
The child greeted her first. Hui'er, looking carefully, remembered who this child was.
Tang Yeye.
The little sick child her lady went to treat yesterday. At first she didn't remember, since the condition now was so vastly different from yesterday.
From a little sick and emaciated child with pale skin like paper, now she had become a girl who looked very healthy and was smiling brightly at her.
Uncle Huang standing behind that child, smiling, confirmed it. He looked at Tang Yeye and Hui'er, who were slightly different in height, like siblings with affection.
"Good morning, Hui'er. Did you sleep well?"
"Good morning, Uncle Huang."
Hui'er greeted politely. He bowed his head lightly in return. But at that moment, Tang Yeye, who was about ten centimeters shorter than her, rushed to hug Hui'er.
"Hey, what's your name, big sister!?"
Hui'er, grabbed by Tang Yeye, backed up in surprise. The two small bodies hugging each other nearly fell to the floor together.
Uncle Huang, who was closest, hurried to extend his hands to catch both. But before the two children could touch the floor, a gentle qi current came to receive both children first.
That qi current supported them. Both little children's feet touched the floor gently. Uncle Huang knew immediately who came to help the children.
It was Bai Fanxian sitting sipping tea looking at the view outside on that balcony!
"Good morning, Grandmaster Bai."
Uncle Huang bowed his head respectfully in greeting. The image of the young woman standing in the center of yesterday's phenomenon was still embedded in his mind.
"Mm..."
Bai Fanxian just sent out an acknowledgment sound. She stretched out on the long chair on the balcony and continued sipping tea comfortably.
Uncle Huang noticed the two little children were conversing about something with happy expressions. The two of them had somehow already moved to sit on the bed. That allowed Uncle Huang to confidently walk closer to Bai Fanxian to converse.
"About yesterday... I can't thank you enough, Grandmaster Bai."
Uncle Huang bowed his head with the utmost gratitude. Besides pulling the young miss from death's door, Bai Fanxian also helped solve Tang Yeye's incurable illness, healing her completely in one go.
While speaking, he glanced toward the two little children. Tang Yeye was listening to something from Hui'er attentively. The little child nodded firmly while turning to look at Bai Fanxian with sparkling eyes periodically.
Uncle Huang smiled. Last night, after the clan head vented his anger, it was also the night that the clan head and young master were happiest. Their only daughter and granddaughter had finally recovered from the terrible illness that had tormented her for years.
She was now strong and incredibly cheerful. This morning the little child woke up before everyone and ran around wildly to wake up her parents, older brother, and grandfather Tang Tianjie, all the way to their bedrooms. But no one who was woken early could get angry at Tang Yeye. Especially not grandfather Tang Tianjie, who picked up his little granddaughter and laughed to greet the new day joyfully.
The little child had run around the house since early morning. But there was one part of the house that both caretakers and the Tang clan absolutely forbade her to disturb.
That was the guest room where the great being they all witnessed from last night's events was resting at the end of this hallway!
They had to wait until around 7:30 before Uncle Huang brought the little child who urgently wanted to meet the person who saved her life to the front of the bedroom like this!
