Chapter 6 - Dadan: “Garp, Your Grandson Is a Monster!”

"How is this possible?!"

"Conqueror's Haki?!"

"Who was it?!"

The power said to appear only once in a million—

the qualification of a true king… here? In this place?

Dadan's fat, muscular body trembled as she pressed both hands against the wooden table, forcing herself to stay steady. Her wide eyes were full of dread as she stared toward the source of that terrifying aura.

She could feel it clearly.

That overwhelming pressure just now… came from that direction.

"Was it Ace?"

The thought flashed in her mind—

only to be crushed instantly when she stepped forward, dragging her heavy body across the floor.

Stepping over her unconscious subordinates one after another, she soon reached the narrow corridor.

There she saw Ace lying on the floor, knocked out cold.

Beside him, plates shattered into pieces, food scattered everywhere.

Clearly—

Ace had been overwhelmed as well, completely fainting from the aura.

"It's not Ace…"

Dadan's throat went dry, her breath unsteady. Her gaze shifted from Ace's limp body to the closed door at the end of the hall.

Gulp.

She swallowed hard. The truth pressed down on her mind like a weight.

"It's… him!"

"No one else here could have that kind of talent."

"And with the blood of the Marine Hero Garp flowing through his veins…"

"Of course! He was born with it—the king's potential that only one in a million ever awakens!"

"But I never thought…"

"That at such a young age, he would already awaken the Conqueror's Haki!"

Her heart pounded violently, her thoughts chaotic.

Breathing heavily, she steadied herself and spun on her heel, fleeing the corridor as quickly as her bulky frame allowed.

She rushed into the main hall, her eyes darting toward the Den Den Mushi in the corner.

With trembling hands, she picked it up—

and dialed.

Purururu… Purururu…

The Den Den Mushi's ring echoed in Garp's home at Foosha Village.

It was late at night.

The house was still brightly lit, golden lamplight driving away the silence and darkness.

Fresh out of the bath, Garp's hair was still wet, steam rising from his muscular body like mist. Wrapped in only a white towel, his towering frame radiated power.

Even approaching old age, the muscles carved into his body were as hard as diamond, radiating unstoppable strength.

Purururu…

Hearing the ring, Garp frowned, confused.

"This late at night?"

"Who could it be?"

"Don't tell me it's that old geezer Sengoku again…"

Muttering, he walked to the hall, grabbed the receiver, and answered bluntly:

"Sengoku, you old bastard, what do you want with me in the middle of the night?"

But instead of Sengoku, the voice that answered shocked him—

"Garp. It's me."

"…Dadan?"

Garp's pupils shrank.

Why would Dadan, of all people, call him?

Unless… something serious had happened.

"Wait…"

"Did Kai get into trouble? Or Ace?!"

His mind raced through grim possibilities.

For Dadan to take the initiative to contact him—there could be no other reason.

"What happened to those two brats?!"

His voice grew sharp, urgent.

One was his grandson.

The other was the son of a sworn brother he had promised to protect.

If anything happened to them, he could never accept it.

"No, Garp, you're mistaken. Don't panic."

Dadan's tone was strange, her words forced, like she was suppressing fear.

"They're both fine."

"…Both fine?"

Relief washed over Garp's face, though confusion quickly followed.

"Then why are you calling me this late at night? What happened?"

"This… isn't something I can explain in a few words. If you have time, I suggest you come here immediately. Once you see it with your own eyes, you'll understand."

"…So mysterious."

Garp's brows furrowed.

This was the first time in three years of leaving Ace under Dadan's care that she had ever called him directly. For her to do so now, and at night no less—

something big must have happened.

"Fine. I'll head over now."

Taking a deep breath, Garp nodded to himself. He couldn't rest until he saw for himself.

"Wait."

Just before hanging up, Dadan's trembling voice added one final line:

"Garp… your grandson… is a terrifying monster."

Click.

The line went dead.

Garp froze, the receiver still in his hand.

The hall fell into silence.

"…My grandson… a monster?"

"What the hell does that mean?"

His mind was clouded with questions, but one thing was clear—

Dadan wasn't joking. He could hear the fear in her voice.

This had to do with one of the boys.

And most likely… It was Kai.

"Enough. I'll go myself."

Without hesitation, Garp redialed, contacting his subordinate.

"Bogard, get ready. We're heading to Mount Colubo immediately!"

Within minutes, Garp and his trusted aide Bogard set off at night, rushing straight from Foosha Village toward the mountains.
