Chapter 5: Why Did He Save Me When He Caused Everything?

When they arrived at the mansion, Pilea's eyes widened in disbelief. Earlier, when she ran away, she hadn't bothered to check what it looked like, but now she was amazed. If there was another word to describe the size and beauty of the mansion, she wished she knew it.

The garden was huge and expansive. Though it didn't have many flowers or colors, it was a lush green, deep and endless. Pilea was admiring it from outside the mansion gates; she hadn't even entered yet.

She glanced at Androsen, who walked ahead, unfazed as usual. As they stepped closer, the gate automatically opened.

Pilea had many questions swirling in her mind, but the cold expression on the vampire beside her gave her chills, so she stayed silent, continuing to admire the environment quietly. She wondered why she hadn't noticed this place before when she ran away, then concluded she must have escaped through the back of the mansion.

When they reached her room, Androsen's gaze locked on her. "Don't ever run away at night again. This isn't where you live. It's a place for night creatures—ready to devour and kill. No pity here."

Pilea only glanced at him silently. He sighed and opened the door for her. Without a word, she walked inside and collapsed on the bed, exhausted.

The next morning, the two maids had arranged breakfast outside her door. They knocked gently but got no response. One with brown hair softly greeted, "Miss, your breakfast is ready." The other opened the door slightly and gently urged her to wake up.

Pilea's green eyes fluttered open, hair scattered, brow furrowed. She gave a small yawn and scanned the room. Everything felt surreal—as if it were all a strange dream. Her gaze landed on the two ladies, who smiled gently.

One with brown eyes stepped closer. "Miss, your warm bath is ready. You must be exhausted."

The other smiled softly. "And your breakfast is ready as well."

Pilea forced a light smile. They bowed slightly and began to leave, but the one with brown hair paused. "Master said you will be going to school this morning. Your uniform is prepared, and he wants to meet you downstairs."

Pilea's brow furrowed in confusion. The maid quickly corrected herself, "I mean Androsen."

Still puzzled, Pilea smiled back, "Okay, I'll be there in a minute."

After they left, Pilea glanced at the food. It looked delicious—hot eggs with sauce, bread, and steaming tea—but she wasn't ready to eat yet.

She stood and noticed a mirror stand on the small table with body lotion, lipstick, and makeup neatly arranged. She guessed that after she ran away, they'd taken the chance to prepare the room with some feminine touches.

Curious, she opened the door to a huge washroom almost as big as the watch room. Another mirror stand held toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower caps, and face creams. The enormous bathtub looked like a small pool. The toilet was painted blue and filled with various bubble baths.

After showering, she saw the food untouched on the table. Nearby was a school uniform—not hers, since her own had been ruined in the last night's incident.

"Why did he save me when he was the one who caused everything?" Pilea muttered, remembering the dark aura from last night.

Dressed and ready, she stepped into the enormous hallway. She recalled Androsen showing her the way out last night, as if he expected her to leave.

She sighed and walked toward the stairs, where she spotted Androsen talking with someone else—Kensley. Kensley smiled as he looked at Androsen. "So you actually saved her—even carried her to your eyes."

Androsen simply glared.

Kensley's eyes met Pilea's as she gracefully descended the stairs. He smiled at Androsen, who glanced at Pilea and back to Kensley. "I'll take my leave—your lady is here."

Androsen turned fully to see Pilea. He hadn't noticed before how gorgeous she was. Kensley was already at the door and waved goodbye before leaving.

Despite Androsen's dark aura, Pilea didn't feel scared. She approached him as usual. He didn't even glance at her, his expression cold as ever.

Today, he wore a crisp white t-shirt, neatly ironed, paired with black suit trousers and polished black shoes. His thick black hair was pushed back, exposing his handsome face and cold eyes.

"Good morning, Androsen," she said, standing beside him.

"Let's go. The car is waiting outside," he replied.

Pilea didn't say anything else and followed silently.

The car was huge, but she wasn't excited. She stared out the window, confused about why all this was happening to her.

Androsen glanced at her once before turning away.

When they reached the school, the driver opened the door for her.

"Thank you," she whispered as she stepped out. "I'll head to class now."

"Hmm," Androsen replied.

"When classes are over, wait for me outside, okay?"

"Okay," she said with a small smile.

As she walked into class, she felt everyone's eyes on her. Some were curious, others whispered and gossiped. She ignored them and headed inside.

At the door, two girls approached, their faces furious.

They were different from the girls who confronted her the day before.

"So after everything, you survived?" one with blue hair said angrily.

Pilea ignored them, but the girl with red hair grabbed her roughly and pulled her back.

Another raised her hand to slap her. Pilea fell to the ground, scratching her hands on the wall—bleeding.

She covered her face, bracing for the slap, while the whole class watched quietly.

Suddenly, someone stopped the girl just in time. Pilea looked up in shock as tears streamed down her cheeks.

What I like about this chapter:

Your vivid descriptions of the mansion and environment really help set the mood and make the setting come alive.

The tension between Pilea and Androsen is well drawn — their dynamic keeps readers curious.

You create a strong contrast between Pilea's vulnerability and her quiet strength.

The cliffhanger with the bullying scene hooked me—makes me want to know who saved her.
