Chapter 102 - Vaatu's Eradication 2

"I tire of your pitiful attacks!"

Vaatu's distorted voice filled the surroundings for many kilometres, his massive body growing even larger as shockwaves of dark energy radiated off his body in destructive impulses, crushing and grinding the ground under its floating body into ash.

"Yeah? Well, I'm tired of your emo, distorted ass voice trashing my ears!"

In response, Katara let out a disdainful shout as the air around her condensed and a ring of fire spun with a flash. Her figure rushed towards Vaatu like lightning.

Crackle!

Vaatu was pushed back as Katara crashed into him head-on, her body surrounded by a spinning ball of air that reduced anything into dust, with a ring of pulsing fire distorting the air from its heat, spinning around her.

Boom!

Vaatu responded with a beam of pure energy, blasting a massive hole through Katara's defence, and making her back off with a sharp turn, avoiding the attack, a massive gash appearing on her stomach, blood staining her clothes.

Pain exploded throughout Katara's senses before she quickly placed her palm on the wound, using bloodbending and icebending to freeze it shut.

'I need to trap him so he doesn't dodge my next attack!' Katara's eyes focused back on Vaatu as she looked at the sky above her, swimming with bolts of lightning thicker than a person's waist.

"Have you given up, you insect?!" Vaatu's loud voice interrupted Katara, who looked at Vaatu as he slowly floated in circles around Katara without haste.

"I admit, you might be as strong as the first Avatar responsible for sealing me... But in the end, even he couldn't defeat me in a battle of pure firepower," Vaatu spoke darkly, his body radiating a dark glow that gave off a terrifying energy fluctuation.

"You want a contest of firepower?... Well, then I will give you what you want!" Katara's eyebrow twitched as she lifted her palm towards the sky, her other hand pointed at Vaatu.

Katara's arm trembled as she bent the air around Vaatu, condensing the water molecules around his massive body to the point where it turned into mist.

Vaatu looked around before ignoring it without a worry in the world. A dark chuckle left his mouth as he spoke again, disdain in his tone at Katara.

"A contest of firepower? I feel misunderstood, child. It will not be a contest, but a one-sided win-"

Boom!

Everything went silent with a dull explosion.

The mist around Vaatu froze over into hard ice, encasing his body inside a massive floating ball hundreds of meters in radius that crashed down into the ground with the force of a meteor.

Crack!

Vaatu's body inside the ice glowed, and a terrifying crack spread on the surface of the ice ball, about to crack in seconds.

But seconds were all Katara needed.

HMMMMM!

A quiet, but also loud sound at the same time appeared deep in the storm-filled clouds above the entire area. Norrak and Azula looked up, smirks on their faces as the entire plain turned a light shade of blue.

Boom!

A massive shockwave erupted from the clouds, revealing a massive ball of pure blue lightning.

The ball of lightning was at least a kilometre in radius, with its size constantly growing as the ice pellets continued to collide, creating lightning bolts that were absorbed by the ball of pure destruction.

Crack!

Inside the ice ball, Vaatu's body shimmered with a deep, dark glow, about to break out as he felt a slight threat to himself above the sky.

Just as Vaatu was about to break free, Katara spoke, her voice loud in his ears.

"Be gone with the thunderclap..."

"KIRIN!"

Crackle!

Everything in a dozen kilometres turned into a world of pure white. Sound was gone, air molecules too slow to transmit anything, as air itself was annihilated.

A pillar of blue lightning erupted from the heavens, piercing through the clouds and sizzling everything in the sky as it flashed down towards the ground with destructive momentum.

A kilometre-wide beam crashed into the frozen Vaatu, instantly evaporating the ice ball in a thousandth of a second, before crashing onto Vaatu's body with full force.

BOOOM!

Sound finally came back, erupting with such force that it would rupture the ears of everyone in the surrounding mountains and plains.

A massive dome of energy expanded from the point of contact, enveloping the ground for a dozen kilometres, and vaporising the ground into ash.

The shockwave surged forth, destroying any spirits who were unlucky enough to remain near the battle or stayed to watch, instantly torn apart by the category 5 winds.

3 minutes later...

The destroyed field was silent, wiht the exception of the occasional sound of lightning that flashed on the surface of the charred earth, the volts still remaining around temporarily.

A massive crater was all that remained, except for the Tree of Time, which now stood on a stone pillar about ten meters wide and three kilometres tall due to everything disintegrating around it.

Crack!

From the edge of the three-kilometre-deep charred crater, a hand with blood-stained fingers gripped the edges, crushing it from the force, before pulling herself out and onto her back with a roll.

"Did..."

"Did I do it?"

Katara's raspy voice came out in short bursts, her body trembling in pain she had never felt before.

Her skin was prickling and numb from the electricity, and lightening-shaped scars covered her body, blood leaking from her split skin and wounds from the shockwaves.

Her eyes were dazed as she looked up to the now clear and green sky, no sight of clouds anywhere.

"No!"

Boom!

A dark shadow shot out from the crater, appearing above Katara's numb body. Its body was tinged with white clouds as crackling lightning ran through its body.

Vaatu glared at Katara with deep anger for the attack, but also newfound respect, feeling a slight numbing pain running through its senses.

Katara's breath hitched at the sight of the otherwise fine Vaatu, her hands clenching in frustration and disappointment.

It was a sucky feeling to give it your all, only for it to not amount to anything but a small wound. Katara felt her heart drop to her stomach before she sighed.

"Raava, looks like in the end I still couldn't defeat him as you hoped..." Katara spoke to herself, a glow appearing on her chest as Raava spoke up wiht a soothing voice.

"Katara... If you want to beat Vaatu, then you need to merge with me," Raava spoke without any blame or disappointment in her tone.

Truth to be told, Katara was one of the finest avatars ever, and she was barely an avatar for almost a year.

Vaatu watched from above, giving Katara a bit of time as a show of respect.

"Merge?" Katara asked, her eyes opening as she spoke.

"Yes... But we could also let your husband, Norrak, deal with Vaatu," Raava suddenly sounded extremely relaxed, causing Katara to let out a short chuckle before gasping as pain shto throguh ehr body.

"Hahaha-ugh! I guess you're right about that, isn't she, Norrak?"

"Yeah, she is right, leave it to me!"

Norrak looked down at Katara with a reassuring smile as he met Katara's eyes. Azula stood next to him with a smirk, respect in her golden pupils as she looked at Katara.

"Not bad, you water splashing women," Azula spoke.

"Shut up, you spark-throwing emo!" Katara snapped back, a smile on her face.
