Chapter 68 - Chapter 67: Train Horror

Sister Mingyue continued her investigation, collecting information related to the plot while checking the body of a crew member. A slight sound of footsteps came from behind her.

"Who?!" She immediately turned back, alert.

Only to see a dark gun muzzle. The person holding the gun was a muscular man wearing a vest, with slicked-back hair and a military tattoo on his right arm. Sister Mingyue's heart skipped a beat. She instantly recognized the identity of the person in front of her.

Isn't this the death row inmate the team is searching for?

"You're Billy... Lieutenant Coen!"

The man, who had originally breathed a sigh of relief upon confirming the girl wasn't a Zombie, suddenly heard her call out his name, and a sharp glint flashed in his eyes. The gun he was about to lower was raised again.

"Oh? Looks like you know me, or even came for me."

Facing the gun muzzle, Sister Mingyue was not afraid at all. Even being deeply immersed in the role, it was highly unlikely to completely forget oneself 100%. Adventurers are not cowards who fear death. She spoke frankly: "You are a prisoner about to be executed, sentenced to death by military court for killing twenty-three innocent people!"

She continued directly, "And to escape punishment, you killed the escorting military police!"

"I see, you're from STARS..." Billy lowered his gun. "Listen, kid, no matter how you see me, I don't mean you any harm. If you want to live, get out of here quickly."

After speaking, he turned and left.

Sister Mingyue was stunned for a moment. "Hey, wait, you can't escape! You've been arrested!"

"I know!" Billy raised the handcuffs on his left hand and shook them, looking nonchalant, not taking the rookie agent seriously.

"Stop! Or I'll shoot!"

"Suit yourself." Sister Mingyue raised her pistol and aimed at him, but he continued on his way, seemingly unconcerned about his life or death.

Billy was fearless. He swaggered out of her line of sight. After much hesitation, she still didn't pull the trigger.

The Adventurers outside were puzzled by this.

Cat Meow Meow exclaimed, "Sister Mingyue, why didn't you shoot? Isn't he the bad guy we're supposed to catch?"

"There's something strange about this!" Sister Mingyue said in a low voice. "I have a hunch that this guy named Billy is not simple; he should be a very important person."

Time Traveler agreed: "Although there have been a lot of clues pointing to this person from the beginning, he should be more than just a death row inmate. He really shouldn't be killed so hastily."

Sister Mingyue stopped communicating with the Adventurers outside and began to focus on playing Rebecca, further integrating into the plot.

Not long after, she walked into the dining car. The light bulbs here were damaged. Sweeping with a tactical flashlight, she saw a mess on the floor, overturned coffee cups, and scattered newspapers. In addition, the air was filled with a foul smell. She stepped on a puddle of viscous liquid and almost slipped, seeing a large amount of unknown gelatinous substance sticking to the floor and even the ceiling.

"So disgusting, what is this..."

Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck, and at the end of the dilapidated and eerie dining car, a white-haired old man in a sharp suit was sitting. Sister Mingyue quickly raised her gun and observed carefully. The old man's skin looked intact, not a Zombie, but sitting expressionlessly was somewhat eerie.

"Hello!" she called out as she approached.

The old man's head suddenly rolled off his neck and fell to the ground, instantly turning into a large puddle of viscous liquid, full of wriggling leeches.

"Oh my god!"

Such a bizarre scene startled Sister Mingyue. Countless leeches burst out from the severed neck of the headless old man, constantly gushing out like a fountain. His entire body disintegrated on the seat and instantly reassembled into a standing humanoid old man in the corridor.

"What kind of monster!"

All the Adventurers were stunned by the strange scene. Upon closer inspection, they found that this was a mimic formed by thousands of leeches. The battle began without warning. The leech man swung a leech tentacle, and Sister Mingyue quickly rolled to dodge. The dining table beside her was split in half.

"Die! You monster!"

Sister Mingyue fired wildly. The bullets penetrated the viscous body but had no effect, and she suddenly found that she couldn't move. Looking down, a large group of leeches had come to her feet at some point, like a giant tentacle, firmly fixing her feet. At the same time, they surged from her feet toward her body.

Sister Mingyue was about to be swallowed by the leeches. Suddenly, a shotgun blast rang out, and dozens of scattered bullets landed on the mimic's body. With a bang, a large number of leeches were shattered, and the mimic lost its ability to shape, instantly turning into scattered leeches on the ground.

Sister Mingyue narrowly escaped death, only to see Billy holding a shotgun and firing another shot at the group of leeches attempting to reshape.

"Run!" Sister Mingyue knew that bullets were unlikely to completely kill these monsters. At this point, she didn't care about anything else and immediately retreated to the end of the carriage.

The leech swarm increased rather than decreased. More leeches kept pouring in from the broken windows and ceiling. Almost instantly, like an ant colony, they covered nearly half of the carriage. Their frantic wriggling movement was like a crazy vortex, resembling an abyssal void that could swallow everything.

Sister Mingyue's scalp tingled, and she felt a chill all over. Too exaggerated! My trypophobia is acting up!

Billy smashed the fire hydrant box beside him with the butt of his gun, pulled out an axe, and cut off the dangling cables. In the sparks, all the leeches twitched due to the electric current. The next moment, they all retreated. Sister Mingyue let out a long sigh of relief.

Just then, another electric arc lit up the night sky, and both of them saw a figure appear outside the carriage. This figure was burly and tall, with long hair, but his face was unusually handsome, possessing both male toughness and female delicacy. Standing in the darkness, he looked very eerie.

The Adventurers could see it in the fleeting lightning flash. A large group of leeches was constantly pouring into his feet, seemingly merging with him.

"It's the mysterious person from the beginning!"

"It really seems to be!"

"Who exactly is he?"

The mysterious person smiled coldly before disappearing into the night. Sister Mingyue had not yet recovered from the thrilling experience when a sense of bumping struck. The train, which had been stationary, suddenly started and accelerated wildly in a short time.

"Damn it! The train's brakes are damaged! We have to stop this train, or everyone will die!"

Billy made a judgment after inspecting the train. His gaze fell on Sister Mingyue. "Looks like, if we want to survive, we have to cooperate."

After experiencing everything just now, Sister Mingyue had initially verified her judgment. This Billy should not be a bad person but a very important character. Even if he was a bad person, he saved her life. There was no reason to repay kindness with enmity at this moment.

Sister Mingyue gave a thumbs-up. "Okay, since you saved my life, I'll trust you this time!"

The two began to cooperate, working together to try and repair the train's braking system. During this process, Sister Mingyue encountered her teammate Edward, who had turned into a Zombie. After suppressing her grief and killing him, she faced the first BOSS battle in the plot.

Bang bang! Several dull thuds came from the roof of the train. Sister Mingyue felt a huge monster moving on top of the carriage. Before she could figure out countermeasures, the carriage's steel plate was torn apart like paper by giant pincers, and then an exaggeratedly large giant scorpion descended from above.

"This is... a creature enhanced by the T-Virus!" Sister Mingyue found a report from an Umbrella Corporation researcher in the carriage. This report clearly stated that the company had successfully completed experiments using the virus to enhance crustaceans.

Although there had been foreshadowing, facing this monster head-on at this moment, Sister Mingyue still felt it was a bit outrageous. This ultra-large scorpion, currently 3 meters long, was covered in a hard exoskeleton. It was not only huge but also very agile, with a pair of giant pincers that could easily crush rocks and tear steel.

Bang bang bang! She fired several shots consecutively. Most of the bullets bounced off the exoskeleton. White Crane Hermit immediately shouted, "Retreat quickly; your current weapon cannot pose a threat to it!"

Too late! Just as Sister Mingyue was about to escape, a sharp scorpion tail, like a deadly spear, instantly pierced her from behind. She could only lose consciousness with her heart full of unwillingness.
