Chapter 5 - The Ladder of Cultivation

🌑 Konoha in Turmoil

By dawn, the village was no longer the same.

The Restoration Decree, signed under duress, had not stayed sealed in the tower. Copies spread like wildfire—some through whispers, others through clan channels, and many through Naruto's clones who ensured the truth could not be suppressed again.

The streets trembled with outrage.

"The Fourth's son
 living like a beggar?"

"The Civilian Council sold the Hyƫga out?"

"Danzo filled his arm with Sharingan—like a butcher's trophy—"

The words flew from mouth to mouth, growing louder with every retelling.

The HyĆ«ga household erupted in fury, demanding answers. The Uchiha survivors wept with rage at the proof of Danzo's theft. Even the Senju name was spoken again—Nawaki and Dan no longer remembered as victims of war, but as victims of betrayal.

Shinobi patrols moved uneasily, no longer respected. Civilians sneered at the council members who had strutted in power only yesterday.

For the first time, the mighty village of Konoha looked not strong
 but ashamed.

🌍 The World Reacts

Far beyond Konoha, Naruto's clones delivered scrolls to the other great villages.

Suna

The Kazekage's advisors paled as they read.

Advisor:

"Danzo traded Uzumaki sealing methods in secret
then lured enemies to destroy them. He profited from their slaughter."

The Kazekage slammed his hand against the table.

Kazekage:

"They call us barbarians, yet they butchered their own allies. Konoha's rot runs deeper than the desert's sands."

Iwa

Onoki scowled over the scrolls.

Onoki (growling):

"During the last war, Danzo fed us false intel. He maneuvered us into Uzumaki territory so the villages would converge against them. We were never fighting for victory—we were fighting his war."

His aides bowed their heads.

Onoki (darkly):

"Konoha calls us treacherous. But it was their own shadow who made murderers of us all."

Kumo

The Raikage tore through the papers, his aura blazing.

Raikage (furious):

"So the Hinata abduction wasn't ours alone
it was bait. Their Civilian Council and Danzo orchestrated the scandal."

His hand cracked the wood of his desk.

Raikage:

"They painted us as villains to hide their own greed. The Hyƫga bled for their corruption."

Kiri

The Mizukage's face turned pale.

Mizukage (whispering):

"These records show Danzo encouraged our bloodline purges. He offered bounties for children—our own heirs—experimented upon in his Root labs."

Tears burned her eyes.

Mizukage:

"We slaughtered our future
 because of his whispers."

Taki

The elders of Takigakure sat in horrified silence.

Elder:

"He came here. Promised aid. Instead, he took our Hero Water rituals and let our young shinobi die in the trials. Every drop of blood was a page in his research."

The chamber fell into grim quiet.

Elder (spitting):

"Danzo Shimura. Konoha's parasite."

đŸ”„ The Fall of Uzushiogakure

Among the scrolls Naruto had delivered was one bloodstained contract.

It was the final dagger.

The destruction of Uzushiogakure—the homeland of the Uzumaki—had not been a natural act of war. It had been engineered.

Danzo had traded maps, weaknesses, and the names of Uzumaki seal masters to every major village. Each thought they were acting for their own survival.

But all of them had been manipulated.

His mother's clan had not fallen to fear of their power.

They had fallen to Konoha's betrayal.

🌊 Naruto's Grief

Back in the Library of Heaven's Path, Naruto stood before the glowing scroll, fists trembling.

Naruto (voice breaking):

"Mom's home
 her people
 all of them
 because of him?"

The shelves trembled, resonating with his fury.

Kurama's growl echoed from within.

Kurama:

"You finally see, brat. Wars aren't just blades and blood. They're bargains in the dark. Your mother's clan wasn't defeated—they were sold."

Naruto's nails bit into his palms.

Naruto (through his teeth):

"Then I'll never let the shadows rule again. I'll drag every one of them into the light—even if I have to tear heaven itself apart."

đŸȘ¶ The Ladder of Cultivation

Xavier appeared beside him, robes flowing with golden light. His voice was calm, but carried an ancient weight.

Xavier:

"Knowledge is a storm, Naruto. If you chase it blindly, it will drown you. To master it, you must climb. Not run. Not flail. Climb."

He flicked his wrist, and glowing rings unfolded outward.

Xavier:

"This is the Ladder of Cultivation. The path trodden by those who seek perfection."

Xavier's gaze deepened.

Xavier:

"Each realm splits into stages, each stage into sub-levels. Advancement demands tempering flaws—just as you mend scrolls. Every weakness purged. Every fracture reforged."

Naruto's jaw tightened.

Naruto:

"Then I'll climb. I'll climb until no one can bury the truth again."

⚡ The Heavenly Lightning Tribulation

Xavier raised a hand, and the glowing rings flickered—dark clouds forming above the projection. Bolts of phantom lightning danced across the Library's ceiling.

Xavier (grave):

"But beware, Naruto. At the Saint Realm, the heavens themselves will rise against you. They will test if you are worthy to climb higher. This test is the Heavenly Lightning Tribulation."

Naruto blinked.

Naruto:

"Lightning
 like storms?"

Xavier shook his head.

Xavier:

"Not storms. Judgment. When you reach the Saint Realm, the skies will summon twenty-one bolts of heavenly lightning. Each one carries the wrath of the cosmos. Each one is a question: do you deserve to ascend? Fail to endure them
and your body, chakra, and soul will be erased. Nothing left. Not even ash."

Naruto's stomach twisted, but his eyes burned brighter.

Naruto:

"Twenty-one bolts
and I have to take them all?!"

Xavier:

"One by one. Until either you survive
 or you are destroyed."

Kurama chuckled darkly.

Kurama:

"Heh. I'd like to see the heavens try to kill you, brat. They'll find out you're more stubborn than thunder."

Naruto smirked faintly.

Naruto (defiant):

"Then let the heavens come. I'll shock them back."

Xavier allowed himself a small smile.

Xavier (softly):

"Hold onto that fire. You will need it when the storm comes."

🌟 Closing Reflection

As night fell, Naruto stood atop a Konoha rooftop.

The village below whispered and roared with outrage.

The world beyond trembled with revelation.

The Library above glowed with expanding shelves of golden truth.

And Naruto clenched his fists.

Naruto (quietly):

"Saint Realm. Heavenly Tribulation. Twenty-one bolts. I don't care. I'll climb until I can look the Sage of Six Paths in the eye. And beyond that, I'll climb until even heaven bows."

Lightning cracked faintly above the Library's horizon.

The ladder had only just begun.
