Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Young Wizard's Pride Is Terrifying

.

In Professor McGonagall's office, Dylan asked a number of questions that had puzzled him since studying magic.

Professor McGonagall even provided some answers to questions beyond Transfiguration.

[Message]: Your Transfiguration proficiency has increased! Current progress is 35%!

  Dylan glanced at the dashboard.

His proficiency had increased by 0.5%, now reaching 3.5/10, on the verge of reaching level 4.

Dylan had gained considerable experience in Transfiguration spells on inanimate objects.

He could easily and realistically perform Transfiguration spells on inanimate objects, even when not involving living creatures or animagus forms.

Of course, to transform something, he naturally needed to understand it first.

Only by thoroughly understanding the principles and structure of an object could he use Transfiguration spells with ease.

It was impossible for him to transmute anything he said and actually transform it.

Without understanding the structure of an object, even if he could, he could only achieve a "shape" that he had in mind.

For example, if he transformed an apple into an alarm clock, without understanding the mechanics of an alarm clock, he could only create something that looked like an alarm clock, but inside was still an apple.

  After Dylan left,

  Professor McGonagall rubbed her stomach.

"This little wizard has so many questions..."

She stood up to get some food, but even as she walked, she couldn't suppress the smile that graced her lips.

"But I've introduced another student to the world of Transfiguration."

  ...

After leaving Professor McGonagall's office, Dylan headed straight for the Great Hall.

Many of the young wizards were already seated for lunch.

There were less than two hours left before the afternoon classes.

  Plenty of time.

As Dylan entered the Great Hall, he saw two people waving at him.

  They were Harry and Ron.

Nearby, Neville, too embarrassed to raise his hand, stared at him eagerly.

  Dylan walked over.

"Oh my god, Dylan, you're amazing! You added a full ten points to our house in Transfiguration!" Ron's face

lit up with excitement. He glanced at Hermione

, who was eating nearby. "Unlike some people who brag about how great they are, but only get five points."

Hermione glanced at Ron, then at Dylan, then lowered her head to continue eating.

"Tsk!" Ron tilted his head back.

  Dylan: "..."

He shook his head. "Whether it's five or ten points, it's all points added to our house. It's better than nothing, or even nearly losing points."

  Ron stiffened at that.

Hermione, however, could hardly suppress her laughter.

Surprised, she glanced at Dylan, who was already sitting down.

Harry glanced at Ron, who remained silent, then at Dylan, who had already started eating. He

quickly smoothed things over, saying, "Dylan, did you go to Professor McGonagall to ask questions after class?"

  Ron glanced over.

Dylan nodded. "I'm not sure if my judgment on some Transfiguration spells is correct, so I'll go ask."

Harry exclaimed, "Dylan, you're a really fast learner."

Ron held it in for a while, but finally couldn't hold it in any longer and said, "And you have a sharp tongue too!"     Dylan smiled helplessly. "I'm telling the truth. Isn't it a good thing no matter who wins points for our house?"

"We're a team. There's no need to compete. Scores aren't important. Self-awareness and happiness are what matter."

Ron seemed to understand. "How could scores not be important? They're the key to whether we can win the House Cup at the end of the semester!"

Dylan shook his head slightly and said nothing more.

He wasn't his father, and he had to explain to Jackie Chan why spells weren't important, and finding a way to destroy the Lord was.

Ron was still young and didn't understand a lot of things. That was normal.

He didn't need to lecture them right away.

Ron pouted. "It's a shame I can't even make a match move. Neville and Seamus can turn a match into an iron rod!"

He pouted gloomily, stabbing the vegetables in front of him with his fork.

"And that teacher was really mean!"

Dylan knew Ron was still upset about Professor McGonagall scolding him and Harry in front of the whole class that morning.

In fact, from the perspective of an adult who had lived two lives, this was nothing at all.

But for a young wizard with a strong sense of self-esteem and a strong will, this matter was difficult for him to change.

  Ron was still mumbling.

"We didn't mean to be late. I don't know what the hell happened to that damn staircase, it actually sent us to the fourth floor."

"And then that weird guy named Filch also seemed to have gone crazy and kept chasing us."

"Oh my God, you have no idea how hard Harry and I worked to get into the classroom on time!"

Hearing this, Dylan thought for a moment, swallowed a piece of well-cooked beef, and spoke slowly.

"Hey, Ron, I know you're upset about Professor McGonagall's scolding, but I have to say, Professor McGonagall said those things out of consideration for you and Harry."

"What? She's so fierce, and yet she's thinking about us? I think she's just using us to establish her authority! To establish her image as a strict teacher!"

Ron curled his lips. "I bet she does the same thing to students from other houses!"

  Dylan: "..."

  Kids' egos are truly terrifying.

"And the most important thing is, that damn Malfoy actually came to laugh at Harry and me after class!"

  Dylan blinked.

So this was the key point, right?

He had gone straight to Professor McGonagall's office after class, so he hadn't really known about this.

He patiently asked, "Ron, do you know about the Acromantula?"

Harry and Ron, along with Neville, Seamus, and Hermione, all looked over.

  "What is that?" Harry asked.

  "A ferocious, carnivorous magical creature,"

Dylan said. "Acromantulas can eat humans, even feeding on them. It's their natural instinct."

  "How terrifying!" Neville exclaimed.

Dylan nodded. "But that's not the scariest thing. Do you know what the scariest thing is?"

"What?" Harry and Ron asked in unison.

"The scariest thing is that you turned into an Acromantula, but then you forgot you were a wizard. You resisted turning back into a human, and ultimately, in the form of an Acromantula, you became a man-eating monster."

As Dylan finished speaking, the eyes of the young wizards around him widened.

"Of course, this is just an example,"

Ron breathed a sigh of relief, but before he could catch his breath,

"Besides becoming an Acromantula, you could also become a slimy basilisk, an ugly grindylow, a stinking Bolog..."

  Hiss!
