Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Dumbledore: Now that I'm in Gryffindor, why would I still follow Tom's path?

  Dylan was speechless.

He assumed that since Gryffindor possessed the Sword of Gryffindor and the so-called house heritage,

the other three houses would naturally have their founders' heritage as well.

Therefore, if he could get into Ravenclaw, he would have the opportunity to explore Ravenclaw's heritage.

While the Sword of Gryffindor was useful, it wasn't quite suitable for him, as he wasn't a swordsman.

"Great! Dylan, sorted into a house!"

Dylan walked to the Gryffindor table to applause and sat down next to Neville.

He wasn't surprised that the chubby boy had gotten into Gryffindor.

However, Professor McGonagall, watching him sit down, was somewhat surprised.

After their brief encounter, she had always assumed Dylan would join Ravenclaw. She

hadn't expected him to join Gryffindor.

This, however, made her somewhat happy.

At least he was now her student.

  Meanwhile,

Dumbledore, seated at the front, narrowed his eyes slightly as he watched Dylan approach the Gryffindor table, a smile playing on his lips.

  "Olivander is too cautious."

Two weeks ago, he had received a letter from Ollivander.

He had informed him of what had happened when Dylan was choosing his wand, and had urged him to be cautious,

lest Dylan become the next Tom.

However, the young wizard didn't enter Slytherin or Ravenclaw, but instead became a chivalrous Gryffindor.

Therefore, he felt that Ollivander was being a bit overly sensitive.

A wand, after all, is merely a manifestation of magical power. With the right guidance for the young wizard, Tom's tragedy wouldn't happen again.

"The Sorting Hat shouldn't be able to detect that I've learned the Unforgivable Curses."

Dylan sat down, feeling a little relieved when Dumbledore expressed no doubt.

Occlumency was still a bit difficult for him to master.

Furthermore, Dylan was afraid of overdoing things, as no one else suspected him.

He first performed Occlumency on himself.

Once others became aware of his magic, they'd undoubtedly be curious about what he was trying to hide.

Wouldn't that make him even more suspicious?

"But honestly, these so-called three Unforgivable Curses are just that."

After a full holiday studying them,

his understanding of the three Unforgivable Curses had deepened.

Although others described them as cruel

, the era of the Big Four was characterized by chaos.

  The Church's purges, the witch-hunts...

Which of their magic and methods wasn't cruel?

For Dylan, how could things like the Avada Gobbler and the Imperius Curse be considered Unforgivable?

They wouldn't even rank against the true evil of Dark Magic!

They were just a bunch of rookies!

"But over time, I'm afraid most of the records of those Dark Arts have been lost. Otherwise, how could spells like the Avada Gobbler become Unforgivable Curses?"

Harry and the other freshmen were sorted into their respective houses by the Sorting Hat.

The Sorting Ceremony took place not long after.

Dumbledore waved his hand gently.     A feast of delicious food appeared before everyone.

Neville, already hungry, brightened up as he picked up his knife and fork and began carving the grilled meat.

Dylan also slowly and attentively cut his steak, eating with a somewhat careless air.

"If I'm sorted into Hufflepuff, there should be delicious food every day, right?"

To use an analogy, the Hufflepuff kitchen could be like the food court below the dormitories.

When hungry, you could just go downstairs and grab something to eat.

Even those living in the Hufflepuff dorms didn't need to go downstairs; the kitchen was right outside.   Suddenly, with a

"swish," the ghost Nick slowly floated in.   The ghosts from the house also took their seats.   Dylan didn't notice much, but many of the surrounding young wizards, even some second and third years, flinched.   Nick floated past Dylan and flew straight towards Harry, who was sitting nearby.   Neville seemed to feel like he and Dylan had become close friends, and he began to chatter.   No longer so stiff and shy, they occasionally struck up a conversation while eating.   "You have no idea what my uncle did to see my magical talent!"   Dylan listened quietly, only responding when Neville got excited.   His gaze would occasionally glance at Harry, who sat a few seats away.   Little Harry was still shy at the moment, sitting with Ron, but the young wizards around him showed great interest in him.   Even the ghosts hovering nearby couldn't dampen their eagerness to chat.   "Dylan, you know so many magics! You must be a pure-blooded wizard, right? I didn't expect you to be in Gryffindor,"   Neville said loudly.   Many people turned their attention,   even Harry and Ron.   Hermione raised an eyebrow, sizing Dylan up.   "Pure-blood? No, I come from a Muggle family." Dylan had nothing to hide and readily admitted his origins.   "Huh? A Muggle family? Dylan, you're kidding me, right?" Neville froze, and the toad in his arms squeaked.   "What's so funny about that?" Dylan smiled, unconcerned.   "But... the magic you've used along the way doesn't seem like ordinary magic!" Neville's mouth dropped open.   "Oh, I read a lot of books and textbooks during the holidays, and I taught myself all this magic," Dylan casually explained.   However, his words shocked and devastated the little lions around him.   What kind of young wizard would teach himself magic during the holidays?   Aren't holidays supposed to be for fun?   But there was one girl in the crowd, her eyes sparkling. It was Hermione.   She raised her head, swallowed her scalloped celery, and looked at Dylan, as if she had found a kindred spirit.   But she couldn't help but compare Dylan to herself.   When Dylan remarked about the books he'd bought, especially the first-grade textbooks, and how he'd only read less than half of them during the entire holiday,   she couldn't help but feel a little proud.   She'd already previewed half of the first-year textbook!   Not only that, she'd also bought several reference books outside of the textbook!   But the next moment, Dylan's words startled her.   "Low-level magic isn't difficult to practice. I don't find the textbook difficult to understand, so I plan to just listen to the professor's lecture during class." "   Besides the textbook, I've been studying the 'Advanced Transfiguration Guide,' but some of the questions are too complex. Regarding how to perform live transfiguration safely and stably, I'll have to ask Professor McGonagall after school starts."   Huh?   (End of Chapter)
