The purple-haired mature woman flew into a rage. The terrifying pressure she had just withdrawn surged upward once again. The entire gloomy tavern erupted with an intense, icy dark-purple glow, and her sharp, frigid voice rang out.
"What did you just say, brat?!"
Under that overwhelming pressure, Luo Yu's body twisted slightly. Yet though he trembled, he refused to bend. His deep black eyes shone with cold arrogance as he stared straight at her furious gaze and enunciated every word clearly:
"This young master—just finds you filthy!"
Boom!
A blood-red gleam appeared in the purple-haired woman's eyes. The black patterns on her snow-white thighs erupted violently as she extended her violet-tinted claws and lunged straight at Luo Yu.
"Heh."
Luo Yu sneered, decisiveness flashing in his eyes. Soul power wrapped around his entire body as he leaped without hesitation into the howling, wind-filled demonic pit, vanishing from the spot.
The purple-haired woman was incredibly fast, reaching the pit's edge in an instant. But thanks to Luo Yu's calculations, she was still a step too late—her grasping hands caught nothing but air.
The man's mockery and disdain seemed to echo in her ears. Gritting her teeth in hatred, she glared at the abyss and was about to jump in after him.
However, just as her body neared the entrance of the pit, an even more terrifying aura suddenly erupted from its edge. A horrifying force appeared out of nowhere, violently hurling her away and smashing her into the ceiling.
The purple-haired woman scrambled up from the ground. Her flawless white body—aside from the black markings and strange fluids—was utterly free of dust. She stared at the pit entrance with loathing and resentment, her gaze seeming to pierce the endless abyss.
"You damned old thing—you really deserve to die. Don't think I don't know what you've been plotting for thousands of years."
"You think I'll obediently follow your arrangements? I refuse to let you get your way."
"Looking for a successor? Heh—keep dreaming!!"
Her venomous shouts echoed through the dilapidated, sinister tavern. After her hysterical outburst, she stared at the demonic pit radiating undead aura and fell into deep thought.
"For thousands of years, this is the first man who's ever rejected me. He'd rather jump into the demonic pit to die than accept my trial? What a pity—anyone without a Void Spirit Body who goes down there is guaranteed to die."
Another wine cup appeared in her hand. Unlike the transparent black liquid sparkling like stars, this cup contained a milky-white liquid filled with an aura of loss and oblivion.
She chuckled playfully and muttered mockingly, "If you hadn't jumped down, you could've pleased me, drunk this Wine of Loss, and left this place alive at the very least. Why refuse such a good deal?"
As for lasting five seconds—she let out a scornful laugh.
She had never believed Luo Yu stood a chance. She had concealed one truth: for thousands of years, under her ultimate techniques, so-called men had never lasted even a single second.
Inside the demonic pit,
Luo Yu felt as if his body were a massive stone plummeting downward at high speed. The space around him wasn't wide—it felt like a pitch-black well.
Looking around, all he could see was darkness, without the faintest trace of light. Ghostly wails and shrieks continuously echoed in his ears, chaotic and unending.
Clack, clack—
As he continued to fall, Luo Yu's teeth chattered uncontrollably. His entire body began to tremble as waves of cold, gloomy wind washed over him, carrying a profound, bone-chilling chill. Even the flow of his blood seemed to slow.
The sinister aura grew heavier and heavier. Amid the ghostly cries, it felt as though something unseen lurked within the darkness.
Luo Yu no longer dared to conserve his soul power. The Great Sun Torchlight Martial Soul instantly possessed him, and surging golden flames burst forth, illuminating his surroundings and bringing a trace of warmth.
Yet under the assault of the cold winds, the golden flames flickered violently, becoming extremely unstable. Their light could only illuminate nearby areas. When Luo Yu finally saw his surroundings, his pupils shrank sharply and his hair stood on end.
In the darkness around him, there seemed to be countless human faces—every single one that of a young girl. But they lacked any vitality. On closer inspection, they were merely lifelike reliefs carved into the edges of the stone walls.
Before Luo Yu could even breathe a sigh of relief, the dark stone walls suddenly seemed to ooze blood, emitting a crimson glow. In an instant, the entire descent passage lit up—though the light was a horrifying blood-red.
Within that crimson glow, shadowy ghost-like figures flickered past, and the winds inside the pit grew even more violent.
Luo Yu frowned. Had it not been for his Ice–Fire Body Tempering and the refinement of his two martial souls, he would have perished long ago in this extreme cold—there was no way he could've held on this long.
"Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh!"
Piercing sounds tore through the air as one illusory black specter after another surged upward from below, shrieking as they rushed toward Luo Yu.

Facing unknown danger, Luo Yu dared not be careless. He instantly unleashed his first soul skill.
A white-jade soul ring etched with dense golden patterns appeared. A massive golden flame spider materialized, charging forward with explosive fiery power to meet the blurry black specters head-on.

Dense, ear-piercing sounds erupted from below Luo Yu. A massive, icy current surged upward, even slowing his falling speed.
Ignoring the bone-deep cold wracking his body, Luo Yu's left eye glowed with golden light as it pierced through the void to probe below. His face instantly changed—countless black shadows were swarming upward in an endless stream.
"Gah—gah!!"
Thousands of shrill screeches rose up, nearly tearing Luo Yu's eardrums apart. Enduring the pain and discomfort, he launched another attack downward.
"Second Soul Skill: True Martial Flame Dragon Break!"
Boom!
A majestic golden dragon formed entirely of blazing flames appeared, radiating overwhelming might. Carried by a scorching heatwave, it dove straight toward the mass of shadows below.
Yet this fearsome golden flame dragon was extinguished the moment it collided with the surging black shadows. It barely had time to let out a sizzling sound before vanishing completely, unable to slow their advance in the slightest.
Luo Yu inwardly cried out in alarm. Even setting aside the bizarre shadows flooding upward, he had no idea how far he still was from the ground. If he couldn't control his descent, he would die just from the fall.
This was the most critical moment he had faced since arriving in the Douluo Continent.
