Chapter 1 - The Start of it all

Villain City

Chapter 1: The Start of it All

The city never slept.

Neon lights hummed over cracked streets, towering skyscrapers loomed like steel monsters, and in every shadow, whispers of fear echoed. This was no ordinary metropolis—it was a city where villains ruled, and heroes were nothing but forgotten legends.

They called it Gravenloch, but most just called it Villain City.

Beneath a flickering streetlight, a boy stood alone.

His hoodie was torn, his fists bloodied, his eyes burning with something deeper than pain—anger. His name was Ren, a teenager who had grown up knowing nothing but survival. He wasn't strong, not yet, but his resolve was sharper than any blade.

"Why… why is this city like this?" Ren muttered to himself, glaring at the night sky, as if the stars would answer.

Just hours ago, his life had been torn apart. His small apartment, the only place he called home, had been destroyed in an attack. The gang responsible didn't even look back—they were just another set of faceless villains who treated lives like stepping stones.

Ren's chest tightened, but not from fear.

From rage.

Far above, on the rooftop of a skyscraper, a man in a long black coat looked down at the boy. His presence was overwhelming—like a storm gathering before a hurricane. His name was Lord Krow, the shadow who ruled over Villain City.

A cruel smile curved his lips.

"Another soul broken by this city… perfect. This is how it always begins."

The city's villains weren't just criminals—they were chosen, shaped, and twisted by Krow's unseen hand. And tonight, another piece was about to be placed on his dark chessboard.

The sound of footsteps echoed behind Ren. A group of masked enforcers emerged from the shadows, their weapons glinting under the neon glow.

"Hey kid," one sneered. "This is villain territory. You look lost."

Ren clenched his fists. He knew he couldn't win—but he wouldn't run either. Not anymore.

"I'm not lost…" he growled, taking a step forward. "…this is where it starts."

The enforcers laughed. "Starts? Kid, this is where it ends."

They charged.

But before the fight could begin, the ground trembled. A black raven feather drifted down from the sky, landing silently at Ren's feet. The enforcers froze, their mocking grins fading into dread.

Their leader's eyes widened. "T-this… this means he's watching…"

The air grew heavy, suffocating. Ren didn't know why, but the presence he felt made his blood run cold. It wasn't just danger—it was destiny.

From the rooftop, Lord Krow's voice echoed through the night, low and commanding:

"Welcome to Villain City, boy. The game has begun."
