Chapter 133 - Epilogue: New Dawn

Five years later, the morning sun rose over the rebuilt town of Oakhaven, painting the sky in shades of gold and rose. Mara stood on the balcony of the inn she now owned, watching as children chased each other through the cobblestone streets. A tray of warm bread and honey sat beside her—breakfast for the travelers who'd begun to return to the valley now that the mountain was quiet.

The Keystone was gone. No one knew where it had been sealed, not even Kai. On that day in the temple, the artifact had vanished in a flash of light, taking the mountain's heart with it. The cavern had collapsed, burying the Order's forces and all trace of their dark ambitions beneath tons of rock and earth.

Kai emerged from the inn below, wiping flour from his hands—he'd taken up baking, of all things, and his loaves were famous for miles around. He wrapped an arm around Mara's waist and pressed a kiss to her temple. "Lost in thought again?"

"Just remembering," she said, leaning into his side. "Sometimes I wonder if we did the right thing. What if there comes a day when the world needs the keystone's power?"

Kai smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, we have work to do. The harvest is coming in next week, and the mayor says we need to fix the north road before the rains hit."

Mara laughed—a sound that had once been rare but now filled their home with warmth. "You always know how to bring me back to earth."

They stood in silence for a moment, watching the sun climb higher in the sky. In the distance, the mountain loomed—green and peaceful now, its secrets buried deep within its core. There were still mysteries in the world, still shadows lurking in the corners of the map. But for the first time in a long time, there was also hope.

Kai squeezed her hand. "Ready for breakfast?"

"Always," Mara said. "But first—let's check on the beehives. I swear that black and yellow one is planning to take over the garden."
