Over the years, Derick suffered from chronic cancer. It had gotten so severe that they couldn't subdue the fast effect and damage caused by it with drugs.
Plenty of doctors and specialists had tried to resolve the issue, but they couldn't. The doctors predicted that Derick would die in a few months, and that was the reason he had doubled the lottery to 2 billion dollars. But he had never expected that the choice he made was what would reunite him with his lost son.
"What do you mean that we can't save him? If we try, we could have a shot. Please, let's take him to the hospital," Lucas said, with a racing heart.
"His condition is severe, and as you can see, he's already dead," the man said, then gently knelt before Lucas, his head lowered to a bow. "Now that you are the sworn owner of the entire Golden Hue organization, I would like to lay my respect before you, young Master Lucas. I'm James, the family butler, and your father has told me to be sincere and guide you through every single process of the family business. You know you control trillions in your fingertips; your commands are what I will follow."
James wasn't just a butler for the Storm family. He is a highly trained special forces soldier. That had sworn to work with the Strom family and keep its legacy moving. The last request from Derick to James was that he should make sure Lucas reaches his expectations and keep the family business moving.
Lucas stared, confusion written all over his face. The death of Derick shook something within him. He could never believe that his father was the trillionaire Derick Storm.
"---"
A few weeks passed, and after the incident about Amanda's death, Clara had never called Lucas; it was as though she didn't care. As though she had been waiting for all that had happened to happen so she could be free to do whatsoever she wanted.
In the few weeks that had passed, Lucas had already learned a lot about the family business and was now the CEO of the Golden Hue organization.
Lucas was seated in the garden staring at the garage, where different cars lay straight, cars he had never seen in his entire life. Derick has a high collection of cars due to how he loves cars.
James, who is now bound to serve Lucas, was standing beside him. Lucas then shifted his gaze to him. "Why are you standing? Have a seat."
James looked down. "Young Lord Lucas, I'm trained for this, so standing for hours isn't a big deal for me."
Lucas then grinned. "Okay, if you say so, but you shouldn't see me as a god or something. Well, I want to visit my ex-wife's mansion."
"Your ex-wife?" James surprisingly raised a brow.
Though Lucas had told James about all that had happened, how wicked his ex-wife was, which had led to the death of their daughter. James had told Lucas that, with the powers he has, he could crumble her entire career with just a snap of his fingers.
Within a few weeks, Lucas learned that the Golden Hue organization had been the one helping Sophia's business to grow tremendously. Which means Sophia sealed a contract with them, and if the contract is been cut off, she will return to zero.
Though after this revelation, Lucas rejected his offer, stating that he wants to play the long-term game with Clara, where she will see everything crumble slowly. Stating that if everything crumbled at once, it wouldn't be fun.
"Yes, my ex-wife. I would like to go to the mansion, not to go see her but to go retrieve something valuable to me, a picture," Lucas explained.
"Okay, young Lord Lucas, then I had to go with you; your ex might have other plans for you, which is unsavory for you to go there alone."
Lucas sighed. "It's not necessarily James. If you go with me, things might even get worse. All I want to retrieve is just a hard copy photo of my daughter; it's not hard. So stay calm and wait for me."
James nodded. "Okay, young Lord Lucas, then allow me to drop you off."
Lucas and James got into the car, and so they drove towards Clara's mansion.
James didn't get too close to the mansion before Lucas demanded that he stop, stating that he didn't want Clara to see the car they had come with. The product of the car they were in was the limited-edition Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut. One of the most expensive cars ever sold.
It will get Sophia so suspicious. And Lucas doesn't want that to happen; he wants to indulge in the long-term game and make everything fun.
James stopped the car as requested, and Lucas stepped out.
"Sir, are you sure you would like to go there alone?" James reconfirmed. Lucas nodded. Before stepping forward.
He got into the mansion, and to Lucas's greatest surprise, Jessica Clara's mom was there, and a few family members.
All Lucas wanted was to get into the room and retrieve the picture, nothing else. He ignored their presence, and just as he was about to walk upstairs, Jessica's raging voice cut through the air.
"Are you trying to act like we are invincible here? I'm Your fucking mother-in-law, for heaven's sake, how on earth will you behave this rudely to me?"
Just after Jessica said this, Clara could be seen coming from the other side of the room. And the moment she saw Lucas, she flinched, then quickly walked forward.
"What on earth are you doing in my house?" she asked furiously.
"I'm here to take the hard copy photo of Amanda when she was a child, so if you could excuse me," Lucas replied, then continued walking up the stairs.
"How dare you?" Jessica held Lucas by the shirt and then dragged him backwards.
"Clara, imagine how your husband is so disrespectful to you. Did he forget you feed him and clothe him? That's why I have been telling you since before now to divorce him, but you keep bringing up silly excuses," Jessica, Clara's mom, casually said, then crossed her legs, relaxing her hand softly on the sofa like a demigod.
