Chapter 8 - Money And Gold

Lucas sighed deeply, then shifted his gaze to James. "No, James, my main focus is not with them. I can't let the sins of Clara affect those who are innocent, but if that's necessary, then I have no choice. But for now, my focus is on Clara."

Some moments later, they arrive at Derick Storm's private mansion. James treated the injuries Lucas sustained from the previous attack. Thereafter, he showed him other things his father had, things that Lucas never expected.

"These are the papers, young master Lucas. Your father owns the Maltino Five Stars Hotel, the jet engine manufacturing company named the Sky Age, the Superno Wine Manufacturing Company, and a lot more. You can see them in the papers."

Lucas was dumbfounded as he stared at the possession his father owned. He didn't know that his father would have so much; the thing James showed him earlier was just a small part of his possessions.

"This is impressive; I didn't know he had many other possessions," Lucas mumbled.

James chuckled softly. "Yes, the companies are his. And secondly, young master Lucas, should I announce the winner of the lottery? So many people who had participated in it are demanding to know who the winner is."

"For now, you shouldn't announce the winner; if you do, Clara might come across the news, and with that, my plans would be ruined," Lucas replied.

"Understood, sir. I will stick to the plans," James bowed his head.

James wanted the winner to be announced because of the ill comments from people tagging the event as a fake.

One month later, after the news had spread, the news of Dericks death spread out, and his son had taken control of all his companies, which he was required to submit to the Golden Hue organization and show off his face as the CEO.

"Sir, it's time," James gently said, opening the car door.

Lucas got into the car, and so they rode to the Golden Hue organization. Billionaire businessmen await in the meeting room. The entire building was surrounded by tight security because the new CEO is arriving.

Though Lucas appears in low-class clothes, they are not too expensive. Though James had requested for him to put on something pricier because he was now the CEO, but Lucas refused.

"---"

Clara had been standing for more than twenty minutes in the waiting room of the Golden Hue organization, her feet tapping on the ground impatiently and her hands crossed across her chest.

The door to the waiting room suddenly opened, and a security guard stepped inside. Clara went straight to him and grabbed his shirt.

"What's your damn problem? I have been waiting here for an hour, and no one wants to attend to me. Did you know who I am? I can make my fiance make you lose your job in just a snap of my fingers, so you better do the right thing and save my time out of here."

The security guard then sighed before speaking. "Ma'am, I explained this to you earlier. The reason for your delay is that we are expecting someone very special, the new CEO, and because of that, the Golden Hue Organization has suspended all the activities for the purpose of focusing on the arrival of the CEO. Maybe after everything, the manager might attend to you."

Clara wasn't alone; she was with her friend Abigail, more like her partner in crime, who always backed her up in all her evil behavior.

Abigail scoffed, chewing on her fingers before speaking. "That's how these security men act; they always see themselves as gods. What will go wrong if we just meet the manager and make him sign the documents? Will that stop him from seeing the CEO or whatever?"

Abigail has a very rude personality, the way she talks and the way she behaves.

"Ma'am, if I'm to follow the direct orders given to us directly from the manager himself, I wouldn't have allowed you to wait in the lobby room for the meeting to be over, but because I respect you for who you are and your financial status, That's why I chose to make you stay rather than chasing you away, so respect yourself, ma'am and stick to the simple orders." The security guard bluntly said.

SMACK!

Clara landed a slap across the man's face. "How dare you talk to me that way, you low-life, wretched fool? If it were outside you saw me, would you have dared to talk to me in such a manna?"

The security didn't flinch at the unexpected slap; he remained silent. Clara pushed him off the road. "I should meet the manager myself; I don't take orders from a lowlife like you."

Clara knows who the manager was, a brown, curly-haired guy called Jordan. In fact, he was her ex-boyfriend back then in college. And even until now she still meets with him and engages in affairs.

Clara walked out of the waiting room. And began making her way to the manager's office. And at that moment, Lucas was coming in from the other door, and so his eyes met Clara's.

She paused. Then she changed her direction and approached Lucas. "What is a person like you doing here?"

Clara's face was filled with a taunting smirk. As she spoke.

Lucas remained silent but later took a deep breath before answering. "I should be asking you that question."

"Hehehe," Clara laughed tauntingly. "Why did you look so bold while talking to me? Who has given you such courage?"

At that moment, other security came forward to drive Clara out of the building because she had harassed one of them.

"Please, ma'am, leave. You are not supposed to be here," one of the security guards gently said, gesturing with his hands to the exit door.

"Get your filthy hands off me," Clara barked.

"I'm not touching you, ma'am, nor did any of us. We are just asking you politely to leave, please."

Clara then shifted her gaze to Lucas. "I'm a business partner in this organization, and even though you want to get someone chased, then it's supposed to be this man over here." Clara pointed her fingers at Lucas.
