Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: TRUTHS THAT SHATTER

The hospital corridors felt heavier than before.

Time moved slowly, almost painfully, as Fiona lay still on the hospital bed. Machines beeped softly beside her, marking every fragile moment of her existence.

Her mother had not left her side.

Fina sat quietly, her hands clasped together, her thoughts restless.

No one spoke much.

Because deep down… they were all afraid of what the truth might be.

News travels fast.

When Jimmy heard that Fiona had been admitted to the hospital, he didn't hesitate. He dropped everything and rushed there immediately.

His mind was filled with questions.

Fear.

Confusion.

"What happened to her?" he kept asking himself.

When he finally arrived, he saw Fina first.

"She's inside," Fina said quietly, pointing toward the room.

Jimmy walked in slowly.

The moment he saw Fiona lying there, weak and unresponsive, something inside him tightened.

"Fiona…" he called softly.

But she did not respond.

Her mother stood beside her, her face tired and filled with pain.

Jimmy looked at her.

"What happened?" he asked.

But she could not answer.

Because they did not know yet.

Not long after, the doctor who had been attending to Fiona stepped out.

"Family members?" he asked.

Fiona's mother and Fina stood immediately.

Jimmy followed closely.

"Please come to my office," the doctor said.

The tone of his voice was serious.

And in that moment… fear became real.

Inside the office, the atmosphere felt cold.

The doctor sat across from them, his expression careful and professional.

Fiona's mother held her hands tightly.

"Doctor… what is wrong with my daughter?" she asked, her voice trembling.

The doctor paused briefly before speaking.

"We have completed our examinations," he said.

There was a short silence.

Then he continued.

"Fiona was physically attacked."

The words felt heavy.

Fina lowered her head immediately, tears forming in her eyes.

Jimmy's face hardened.

The doctor spoke again, more carefully.

"She was sexually assaulted."

Silence filled the room.

For a moment, no one reacted.

As if the words had not fully settled.

Then Fiona's mother gasped softly.

"No…" she whispered.

Her body shook slightly.

"This can't be…"

Fina covered her mouth, tears falling silently.

Jimmy stood still.

Completely still.

His mind struggled to process what he had just heard.

Fiona's mother broke down.

"My daughter…" she cried. "What did she do to deserve this?"

Her voice echoed painfully in the room.

Fina tried to hold her, but she was shaking too.

Jimmy clenched his fists.

Anger.

Confusion.

Helplessness.

All rushed through him at once.

"Who did this?" he asked, his voice low and tense.

The doctor shook his head slightly.

"We don't know yet," he replied.

That answer only made things worse.

Because now, there was no one to blame.

No one to face.

Only pain.

Elsewhere, in a completely different world, Daniel sat in silence.

The party was over.

The noise had faded.

Only fragments of the night remained in his mind.

Blurred.

Incomplete.

But something felt wrong.

Very wrong.

He stood up slowly, running his hand through his hair.

"What happened last night…" he muttered.

His memory was unclear.

But then…

Small flashes returned.

Moments he could not fully piece together.

His expression changed.

His breathing slowed.

"No…" he whispered.

The realization began to hit him.

Not clearly.

Not perfectly.

But enough.

Enough to know something terrible had happened.

Daniel stormed into the room where his friends were gathered.

His presence alone changed the atmosphere instantly.

"What did you do?" he asked sharply.

His voice was controlled…

But dangerous.

His friends exchanged glances.

"What are you talking about?" one of them replied casually.

Daniel stepped closer.

"Don't play games with me," he said coldly. "Last night."

Silence.

Then one of them laughed lightly.

"It was just fun," he said. "Relax."

That was enough.

Daniel's control snapped.

He grabbed him instantly, pushing him back.

"Fun?" he repeated.

His voice was darker now.

"What did you bring to me?"

The room went tense.

"You were drunk," another one said. "You didn't even know what was happening."

Daniel's eyes hardened.

"And that makes it okay?" he asked.

No one answered.

Because they knew…

It wasn't.

The tension exploded.

Daniel threw the first punch.

Anger, frustration, and guilt mixed into one uncontrollable reaction.

"You had no right!" he shouted.

The fight became physical.

Chairs moved.

Voices raised.

But this was not just anger at them.

It was anger at himself.

Because deep down…

He knew he had crossed a line he could never undo.

Back at the hospital, Fiona still lay unconscious.

Her mother sat beside her, crying quietly.

Fina stayed close, offering what little comfort she could.

Jimmy stood near the window, silent.

Everything had changed.

And no one knew what would happen next.

Far away, Daniel stood alone after the fight.

His hands clenched.

His mind restless.

Because for the first time in a long time…

He felt something he could not control.

Guilt.
